Actual Student Athlete, amazing isn’t it? I believe Fagen is also finalizing his masters. If nothing else they should be role models for the young guys to work hard on the court and the classroom.
Exactly. Most of these guys don’t have the opportunity to go pro. Getting a masters degree via scholarship is a massive opportunity and it’s great seeing some of them take advantage of it

I know whitesell’s MO is coaching bigs, and that’s been reflected in our recruiting abilities.... but with our guard depth you’d think it would be pretty easy to get a talented guard in here. Still plenty of time but I’ll feel much better when it happens

At least now we have depth at PG
Lol! In all seriousness though it doesn’t count as a scholarship for us so it’s not like it’s taking up a roster spot from a guard recruit

Ugh. Love him as a heart and soul guy but dang hopefully this doesn’t turn off Williamson and/or Mading. A lot of bigs not enough wings and guards.
Brock was the least of our concerns last season. Played really well and gave it his all. There will be minutes to go around and I’m sure he’ll be a great mentor for the incoming players

Is Kansas ever going to hire a coach? The longer this goes the more difficult the task it’ll be for whoever accepts the position
-
Fagan coming back would be a good thing. He made the most of his minutes last year and didn’t look out of place at all
-
Great get! Excited to see him play

Could be something could be nothing. If he did switch commitments I’m glad he didn’t announce UB then change his mind a week later. If he does end up at Cincinnati I hope the staff stays on good terms, Hardnett chose them over us then ended up here anyway.

He liked no other coaching announcement but the one of the guy who recruited him and then went P5.
I think he changed his mind. Which he's obviously allowed to do that. The change in coach and change in announcement is too many random occurrences to me.
It does seem a little coincidental, but it could also just be him congratulating a coach that he’s happy for. We don’t even know if he got an offer from them. Also not sure why he’d say it was a venue issue if it were a commitment change, why not just say it’s been postponed until Friday. Not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t just want to assume he changed his mind on us. Coincidence can be deceiving.

Wonder if Kevin has any news on this potential development. Hopefully it was just a venue issue, but I guess we’ll find out tomorrow either way.

Umm ok
Anyone care to explain what in the heck this even means?

Kevin definitely has sources, but probably best to keep things quiet so the players can have their proper commitment announcements without being spoiled.

Thanks. The only thing I read in there is that Texas tech assured Buffalo that they’d help facilitate the process. Maybe I missed it but I don’t see anywhere that it says Mballa came here because he was told he’d get cleared to play right away.

The recruiting coach forged documents from former players and signatures that went unchecked by the coaching staff and put the team on probation? Is that what was missed?
I'd call that irregular recruiting to be able to promise a player they will get cleared, go through any means to get it done, be the selected transfer school because of this and have no other coach realize what is going on.
Is that what happened? Did Mballa come here because they “promise a player they will get cleared”? Or is that a fabrication. I honestly don’t know and am asking. With your ax to grind with the administration however it wouldn’t surprise me that you’re just saying whatever you want to make them look as bad as possible.

This has "big school came calling" written all over it. You don't drop after 5 days unless something else fell into place.
Unless maybe he was pressured into making a quick decision in the first place. GSU offer came in, announced he made a decision, committed within what, a week?

Then how does one know if they should buy tickets in April if it's too soon to ask. Many people won't go to a game in 80 degree weather wearing a mask (or sit through a 3.5 hour game wearing one outdoors either).
This would be for what, one game?

Exactly - none of us know what's going on these guys' heads. Maybe he liked the location, the academic programs, the coaches/teammates, the opportunity to star day 1, etc. Best of luck to him. Hope UB has some other options in the pipeline that they're working on right now.
As someone who applied there back in the day, can confirm Flagstaff is beautiful.

The entire conference is a mess right now besides Ohio and UB in #2
Ohio
____________
Buffalo
______________
Rest of MAC
Is Ohio really that far ahead of UB? We beat them in conference play and finished ahead of them going into the tournament. They got hot at a good time. Preston and vanderplas and good, but so are Mballa and Williams. We did lose Graves tho and I don’t think they graduated anyone so that could tip the scales

if you actually read what I said you would get it better "they are going to be juniors athletically per the free year"
Ohio will get a 2nd and 3rd year to run it back from this year. They can also recruit. Something UB hasn't done under this regime
If you think Preston is spending 2 more years at Ohio well I have a bridge you may be interested in purchasing.
-
Of course they’re returning next season. If you actually read what I said it was they “are going to be seniors”

Juniors. They get that eligibility back.
However, The Year UB was ranked, you've reminded us all many times that they were all seniors and we are still recovering from losing them all. Hows it different?
Lol wtf are you talking about. That’s the whole point. They’ll be rebuilding after this year. Are you so wrapped up in arguing with certain posters that you can’t understand the discussion?

They’ve got to be, at least on paper, head and shoulders above the rest. Of course that’s on paper so point well taken. But his success thus far is reminiscent of Oats’ trajectory. Beware.
Sure, he absolutely could turn into their Oats. But until it happens I’m not putting the crown on them. They were a 5 seed and their best players are going to be seniors.

How many years eligibility? This should quiet some of the doubters
