Yea this firm should take a lot of blame. Unless the AD is even more inept than we think you can’t bring candidates to the table if interest isn’t there. I understand that deals are negotiated on both ends but 0-3 on OFFERS at this level is completely and utterly unacceptable. This whole process is an absolute mess and everyone involved should be on some sort of hot seat.
Didn’t CSA go through a round of layoffs? Thought I saw that somewhere but can’t find it.

I was just told:
Calhoun declined for NIL budget reasons
Cohen declined as he was looking for a longer contract than the original length discussed.
Longer contract seems easily solved. Are we playing hardball unnecessarily?

This guy McCollum seems like a diamond. He must have some recruiting sense, else how do you get guys to play for D2 NW Missouri St?

ESPN has the 3 names we like plus....recently fired Butler coach LaVall Jordan. Meh..
Iona’s a big job but UB’s not?
“Other big positions are still open, including California, Providence, Iona, Temple and Texas Tech.”

Hate to break it to you, but St. John’s is a better job that UB. Pitino chooses them over us every time.
And while he would be successful I’m sure, the culture of our program isn’t a fit.

Respectfully, any coach who comes in and wins will treat us as a stepping stone when millions are put in front of them. Whether they’re from here or not. All Nate Oats talk about Gonzaga of the East was just salesmanship. He took the first big check he was offered. As any of us would.
There comes a time for some when the money is sufficient and they are looking for a place to raise their family.

Thank you to those who reached out. In particular thank you to the influential person on these boards who had the right conversation with the right person at the right time. It seems we are focused in the right places now.

He should never follow for with “he”. The correct usage is for “him” and his staff. It astounds me that so many, who communicate so prominently with the public, are so lax in the proper use of language.
What about himself?

Would love to see your Xs and Os break down on why Mike Anderson is a bad hire
You’ll see it in my other posts. Bottom line we do not need a retiree on his way down. We need a youngster on their way up.

Do you have some sort of "inside info" on this, or is still just speculation? What would the NY Daily News care about UB basketball? Hell, our own local papers and sports radio stations barely care about UB (aside from Rachel Lenzi and Jonah Bronstein).
They care about Anderson, not about UB ball.
-
We have a chance to change their minds but basically today is the last day.

Mike Anderson would be a disaster. A twice fired coach with a $5M parachute from his prior school and close to retirement, this gig is pointless for him and his ties to us superficial. We’ll just further dig the Whitesell hole. We need young and up and coming. Unfortunately the donor class is pushing hard for Anderson, as is the NY Daily News. We don’t hear much from our NYC alums but they are all over this and are tying it to more downstate games, which could be a good thing but not worth an awful coach who will always lose.

The sad thing is Bryan Hodgson should be the new UB Bulls basketball coach but you will get a few UB Donors not from Western New York that whole life is the words of the New York Times propaganda machine that will screw it up for the other UB Donors and UB Bulls fans will be stuck with another Jim Whitesell type of coach again that checks all the political cover boxes for UB because they fear the corrupt New York Times propaganda machine what a joke that is why UB athletics will never be big time nor will Western New York unfortunately the ship sailed long ago which is unfortunate.
It’s a little hard to follow your screed but I believe you’re referring to those promoting Mike Anderson from St John’s. It is the NY Daily News that would push that, not The NY Times, but no matter, I agree with your point, local coaches for a local school.

If the Buffalo Bills left tomorrow a new Buffalo professional football team would replace them and be successful like the St Louis Battlehawks XFL is sold out today.
I like your take. I believe UB made the investment in higher level football (relative to the other SUNYs) as a bet that Bills would leave. With Bills staying I don’t see us increasing sports investment and it would begin with football if it were to happen at all.

There are reasons to dis like or not prefer a potential mike Anderson hire, him being a bad basketball coach isn't one of them
Yes, he is bad. Sorry but good coaches don’t get fired twice for poor performance. He will be a disaster for us.

Eh it’s a fun tag line but they were also at one point coaches on their way up. It’s a cycle but one has a track record of already doing it. I’m not against either but completely ruling someone out for a MAC job for not meeting high major standards is pretty silly. I listed like 5 coaches who followed this path and run a top 100 mid-major. I forgot Ritchie McKay at Liberty, there may be others. It seems like a pretty high hit rate if you have the resources to get one. I think people saw one top 25 season and believe we’re destined for that every year when we don’t have the facilities or resources to do that. Being a consistent top 100 program is not a small accomplishment at the mid-major level.
Thinking specifically about Mike Anderson it applies. He would be a huge mistake. Fired twice and now he makes sense for us? He’s older and is sitting on a $5M parachute from SJU. He comes in and none of us should be surprised when our team is as bad as the schools he just came from.

Of the names mentioned. In no order, we should be hot on Speedy Claxton, Adam Cohen, Hodgson and Dunleavy. Perhaps poke around GMac and Paulus.
Hofstra has a history of their head coaches going to the Big East or other major conferences.

How about Will Brown? Did well at Albany, fired there for refusing a dubious request by the AD, then took the HC job at the Albany Patroons and got them to 29 and 4 this year. He quit the Patroons for unknown reasons and is available.

Also saw someone point out that Alnutt overlapped with Mike Anderson at Missouri who was just fired by St. John’s. AD ties, NY ties, played the fastest pace in the country the past two years. Mediocre results at St. John’s but he outperformed their last 4 coaches which says something. He also had pretty good results at his previous stops (Arkansas, Missouri, UAB)
No, we want coaches on their way up, not on their way down.

I'm no longer able to get to the UB Wifi Login screen. I pull up a browser, and try to navigate to buffalo.edu but it doesn't pull up the login page and tells me it's an unsecure (or maybe unauthorized website). Reset the phone and the WIFI connection several times and no success.
At this point, it's only a few weeks left in the season. But, I like pulling up the detailed stats on my phone when I'm there.
No need to reset your phone because your phone is reacting exactly as it should. UB’s wifi has an expired cert so your phone’s browser see any page it serves up initially as unsecured. When you get to that screen there should be an option for you to continue anyway, or click a link that says advanced, or something like that, and then continue. It’s at that point you may need to login again and click through the unsecured page again before finally getting in.
