  1. The offense consists of someone getting the ball and trying to take on the entire KSU team while the rest of the Bulls watch.  No ball movement.  It's slow, and uninspired.  Polar opposite of how this team normally plays.  On defense they're letting guys absolutely blow by them.  No focus, no effort.

Watching the halftime junk. Oats yelling during practice, “That’s a problem! We are a step slow!” Exhibit A (I hate to say it) is Jeremy Harris. Relaxed isn’t getting it done, so how about stepping it up a bit cause you’ve got nothing to lose. That Harris nonchalant pass that Walker stole and scored on is inexcusable for a senior.

Harris always strikes me as a lazy player that relies on his smooth shot, except his smooth shot has been off more than on this year in most games.  Apparently he often wins the hard hat so he IS doing hustle stuff, so maybe he's just one of those guys whose body language looks like crap but he's actually going hard?

Ok this game was garbage, a horrible loss. I’m ready to move on.

Gotta use it against Kent. I’d have to imagine the team is even more pissed about this loss than we are. Go into that dump of  gym and THROTTLE the flashes.

I work with colleges and universities.  Whenever I talk to a co-worker who has contact with Kent State I tell them that we used to say, Can't Read, Can't Write, Kent State.  They always unanimously agree.

NC State lost to 8-9 (1-4) Wake Forest and dropped 4 spots.

I agreed that UB SHOULDN'T fall far, however I think you're giving far too much credit to the media voters thinking they aren't that biased in favor of power conferences.  To Seth Davis in NYC who probably only watches the big games on national TV,  NC State already has more leway because of conference and brand, and they lost to an ACC team, and his opinion, a bad ACC team is worlds better then an "ok" MAC team.  The blue bloods and power conference teams can absorb losses more easily than an upstart mid-major.  I think that's just the reality.  If UB were in the Big Ten and lost to Illinois or something...sure, maybe they only drop 5 or 6 spots.  However...sadly...they're not, and to the media voters, that really does matter.

Hopefully it doesn't turn away the locals, who love jumping on and off bandwagons. If they can bounce back with a win on Friday against a tough opponent, the place should be packed against BSU. This is a critical stretch of games, with 5 out of 7 on the road (including tonight). This team is the best team in the league and needs to get back to playing a full 40 minutes, not just a few incredible stretches. We're no longer in 1st place in the MAC, so that should take a tiny amount of pressure off the team, although it could bring more onto them, considering their ranking. One game at a time and Friday's is a huge pendulum swinger for the rest of the season.

Honestly, I don't think it will.  The game was on ESPN+ so no one watched it.  It will get 5 seconds on the 11 o'clock news and that's it.

Lol I didn’t say that you weren’t a fan. Just curious why you’re suddenly here tonight to argue with everyone 🤷🏻‍♂️

We all process loss in different ways Jeseph.  I like to be able to vent with other fans and then move on.  Also, I didn't pick a fight with anyone.  Derek basically called me negative and I laughed and agreed.  I only disagreed respectfully with one poster who I felt was blaming the refs too much.  Said poster did not take my respectful disagreement well and brought up a metaphorical comment about the way the team was playing being akin to the way Lance Leipold (who I dislike) coaches because he or she apparently did not understand it.

Kinda funny coming from the guy that blamed it on Lance Leipold just 18 minutes before this.

?? What?  I said it was like Leipold was coaching the team based on the way they were playing.  Do you actually think I blamed this basketball loss on the football coach?

The silver lining here is that our loss is hidden in a sea of losses this week in the top 25.  Here’s what we’ve already had so far this week.

    10 VT lost by 21

    13 UM lost by 13

    24 ISU lost by 4

    16 AUB lost by 3

    22 MSU lost by 21

    14 TTU lost by 13

    20 MISS down by 28

I hope so.  All of those schools lost to teams better than NIU and come from bigger conferences where the voters are going to much more lenient.  Hell, Duke lost to unranked syracuse at home and fell a grand total of one spot.

Pretty much spot on. MAC season is tough regardless. Gotta always be on. I think we were all hoping for zero bumps but it happened. Ive been wanting this team to get back to playing the machine they were. Killer instinct.

Of course, we all knew there would be a loss or two at best...but...this one is rough.  Would have hurt less against a program that had some cache this year.  This loss won't age well.

Matt whenever I see you post about UB sports you'd almost have me convinced this is the least fun sports year in UB history! Expectations got to you!

Really though how they react to this over the next 6-8 games is key to how the mood of this season will go. I always hate the wake up call loss cliche but these guys were getting a bit on the cocky side recently. But if they get back at it now Im not upset. In the major realm of being ranked and at large bids... They are teetering. Not one more loss really. Maybe the title game max.

Haha, just being honest.  Listen, this season has been, and I'm confident will continue to be amazing.  But like coach Oats told the team before Syracuse...there are no moral victorys anymore.  All the stuff I said is true.  Their play has been trending downward since Toledo and Miami and a game like this was coming based on that.  They weren't ready to play and it showed.

Also, We can complain about a single game effort and result without chucking out the rest of the season, which I'm doing. I'm not sitting here saying their a bad team or anything, but there is no defending that effort, no matter how blue your glasses are.

Lastly, I hate that football team, so I really didn't enjoy the season.  They have the personality of their coach.  Read: NONE and couldn't handle even a bit of pressure in the worst conference in college football.

I know we didn’t shoot well but the refs controlled the tempo of this game by calling all those fouls. I’m not saying they weren’t evenly distributed fouls for both teams but these whistle happy refs kill our style of play and allows NIU to get a shot at the upset. We need to get out of the MAC.

If your style of play is killed by the refs evenly calling a tight game...then you don't have a sustainable or good style of play.  Sure, UB likes to play faster, but the talent on this team is more than enough to overcome that.  They solidly beat Syracuse who slowed things down with the zone.  They can, and should win games like that, especially in the MAC and especially against NIU.  The UB Bulls shit the bed in this game.  There was no ball movement on offense and everyone was chucking up terrible shots and praying.  They had no hustle or focus on defense, and they turned the ball over like a Reggie coached team.  This loss is 100% on the players in blue and no one else.

  13. Also, I don't think the officials were bad at all.  I don't like how tight and ticky-tack they called the game, but they were consistent and even with no glaring bad calls.  I would have preferred them letting more go, but the calls they called were generally speaking, legit, though maybe weak, fouls.

  14. THey were asking for this.  THey have't looked like the team they're supposed to be since Toledo/Miami.  Each game there have been more errors, more turnovers, worse rebounding, less effort.  THey got to the MAC and won a couple big and decided to just coast.  I love Oats but they simply haven't been ready to play most MAC games this year.  Halftime adjustments have been enough to get them turned out and winning, but the writing was on the wall for this.
