And what about going to school?

You go to college in order to get prepared for getting a job. That was part of my point. I still don't understand how changing schools year after year allows for "students" to accrue credits, as certainly some classes don't transfer, especially after yearly school changes.

I didn't know his nickname was Boogie!  Anyway returning to Ball St.

Seriously, how dumb has this system gotten? Guys leave, go elsewhere, then return. How many guys are in their 3rd+ school in 3-4 years? It's become pick up ball at the park. I can almost get behind a transfer for a variety of reasons. But this is just dumb at this point. I mean, I see it in local high school players too. Stan Weir was at 4 schools in 4 years (many years ago), Bradberry was at 4-5 schools in his career. When people are being taught that they should move around constantly, how are they being prepared to get a job and stay there for a period of time, or are they just going to work for a year and then leave then too?

Any situation is better than what we're facing this upcoming year with an entire team of question marks.

Who doesn't have question marks? 1700 players in the portal plus graduating players equals over a 50% average new roster turnover.

The whole new landscape of yearly free-agency in college sports makes me less interested and less enthusiastic overall.  Why should I care so much about my school's team when the players playing for it clearly don't?

You read my mind on this one.

She's a finance major and both programs are AACSB accredited. Might need to retake a class or two, but much of the senior year of the finance program at UB is a bunch of electives IIRC.

Undoubtedly, all of the other transfers Country wide are in a similar boat.

I can't be too hard on her.  We don't know if she had the option of staying.  Just like some of the football players that transferred, it may have been suggested to her that she'd be better off somewhere else.

It's fine, I'm not mad at any of them, it's just a ridiculous system that is the downfall of the system as it was. The big boys are happy, and those making the big bucks are happy as well, and that's really all that matters.

How are you going to be hard on a college kid about transferring to a new school. In the end they’re kids and just looking out for themselves. There’s some stat i saw that something like 35% of non student athletes transfer to a new school before finishing their degree. Are you going to complain about that? Some kids literally just might not like a school or are trying to find the right fit.

That's fine. Doesn't mean I have to be interested in the process. It's a new team every year from this point forward, not just for us, but for most teams. It's disinteresting to me. So these new guys that are all coming in, that people are excited about will be here for how long, 1 season? How many will be gone next year? Based on this past year, it's likely that most will be gone next year. Again, not just here. Heck, Schmidt is a genius. Sold Bona on his great team, got mega bucks, and now has no team. Could've put anyone in that coaching position and had the same (lack of) team.

And good on her for doing so. Most of that team is going pro in something other than basketball. Get a good education if you’re on scholarship.

Not quite sure how that works, leaving after 3 years and completing a major at a new place, but good on her and all of the thousands of "student-athletes".

Waited until the last minute. I would say I’m shocked, but I’m not an idiot. Let’s go Coach Burke. If we dance this year, I’ll be a very happy man!

Glad to see that 5 UB players are now in orange, along with nearly the whole staff. So ridiculous. Enjoy.

I think this is so awesome. They have really thought this out, involved the other sports, honorary coaches, Football Alumni. Very clever and a way to rally the whole school around something to make it an event. Well done to those that got this pulled together.

Agreed, looks like it will get a lot more internal people involved, which may bring in some of their families and more butts in the seats. Looking like a decent weather day as well.

I would be shocked in the made the Dance. ACC had 8 teams this year (the previous year too I believe). It’s a tough conference. Can they crack that top 8 group? The regular season will be a gauntlet and it’s a mainly new team. Time will tell.

It's not really a new team, 4 UB players, including stars know the system. I'm sure they'll be able to take other strong talent, added to what they took from us, and be solid.

Canisius lost Harried to Binghamton. Is that a step up, side step or something else?

For most, it's just change for the purpose of change. 30% of the D1 players changing schools, plus the graduating seniors equals close to 50% new rosters countrywide.

110%.  Diversity is important to college life; the Director’s Cup agrees with you.

Are they better, or worse than Binghamton’s tennis program?    Collectively their men and women went 1 & 43 this year… including 0-4 against UB.

I don't know anything about Binghamton's tennis program, but I do know that Bona's track & field team is very limited.  They don't even compete in short sprints or field events, basically just using their XC kids. Canisius and Niagara do similarly, although Canisius has a much better squad than those two.

But back to UB women's hoops. Any word on McNabb? No news is good news, right?
