She must be very confident in her recruiting. Bringing over 3 MAC players (maybe a 4th depending on Fair’s decision). At least they know her style and can help at practice. We will see how it goes on the court. I’m sure Wooley will be fine.

Glad to see UB 2.0 competing in orange next year. Mcevans,  woolley, Wilson. Who's next?

Something tells me he wasn't the kinda Blue Collar guy Nate was used to working with...

Big time Talent for sure, but no Wes or CJ,  at least not from what I saw.

Good for him. While I am greatly opposed to the transfer portal, he owes Ohio nothing, as he was there for 5 years, playing 4 of them. If it wasn't for the crazy freebie year, he'd be done, so if he wants to go elsewhere for one, all the best for him. He was always a thorn in our side!

Perkins will be a grad transfer...solid player. Guard with great size, streaky shooter but should provide some stability at the 2/3 during the transition year. At the very least, we will have very experienced guard play with Camp, Young and now Perkins.

Gotta start somewhere. Lots more pieces to go.

I'm not giving up on this upcoming season. It's not like the MAC is a juggernaut conference. If we get the right players in place and they can get in some good work in during the OOC schedule, they could gel into a good MAC team, get to the tournament and figure out how to win 3 games. I like her passion and I think her team will play hard and scrap. That's what you need in the tournament. I'll reserve judgement until I see her roster, if she can bring one of the Portal Players back to the fold.

Here is my dream scenario - Fair returns for her senior season to become the greatest WBB player of all time and Lexi McNabb honors her commitment and comes in as the Georgia Wooley 2.0.

Likely, No; Impossible; Not Yet  🤣

Keep dreaming on that last point.

We shall see. Just like with the men, it's wait and see as to what the roster will look like before assessing. I'm always hopeful. As she said in her speech, it won't look like it did before. I enjoyed what I was watching before, however.

With the number of players in the portal, we will get some decent talent. The real hard yards will come in getting whomever comes in the gel into a team.

That's a big part of the problem. It's starting from scratch, new players, new system, new everything. Not that others aren't immune to this problem as well, but it really is brutal, as both teams will be doing this (not a new system on the men's side, but nearly all new personnel)

I like the young core and current team build, just need to finish it. The 5 of jones/ceasar/blocker/mading/Williamson

Thats a good base, just wish they got more experience this past season

Honestly, does it matter if they improve? If they improve, and lead the team to 20 wins, they'll all be in the portal next year anyhow. If they don't,  or don't play as much as they desire, they'll portal also. I honestly have no idea how to rate anyone's success anymore. Previously,  I lauded keeping the roster intact, relatively no portal departures, and solid record overall (Yes, no championship, early mac exits. I am aware). Now, not only does the team graduate it's core, players (may) exit also. Same for nearly everyone in the ncaa. It seems like a fools errand to try to predict future success beyond 1 season.

The portal has grown from 1050 last week to 1188 now. Practically every school is in there, but especially our tier of school.

    "1 - go to Cleveland" - that'd be nice.

"2 - show potential of the core" - I think "core" is gone in the ncaa. Just my 2 cents.

  8. We have no idea what this team, or any team will look like in the fall. There's only a few rosters in the country that is set for next year and sadly most teams at our level have a good number in the portal/graduated. As limited as our roster already was going to be, others have caught up to us with their big players portal bound. While I'm certainly not dancing over where we are currently with the men's roster, it's an incomplete grade for me right now. The women's team is worse off currently. Other mac teams are mostly in the same jam. It's ridiculous up and down.

I heard that Murray State lost nearly every good player from this years #7 seed team.  They all bolted for the portal right after elimination in part due to a coaching change.

In this environment of college athletics, Coach's have to re-recruit their players every offseason.  It's nuts.

Well, we don't have a coach and players have already left. Can't re recruit people who are already gone.

If we really look closely at the portal which we really do not have the time or total interest there are teams all over the country that the portal has depleted them or that have their top players on a team that are probably gone.We just see it from our UB standpoint. Look at some of the MAC teams and even some of the MAAC teams that will lose their top players.

Many, yes, but between graduation of the big 3 and maceo, skogman (portal), summer, fair, ade, christie, woolley, wilson. It's gotta be 90%+ of total scoring gone. That's a LOT to replace. Yes, ohio loses their big guns too, so maybe everyone is just losing 75% of scoring every year, who knows. Ours just seems to be a much higher amount, on both sides of the ball.

I think you have both made your point. Let’s move on and hope interviews are taking place and we bring in a solid coach who can go out and fill our now depleted roster and at least field a competitive team next year. Go Bulls!!

Let's hope. I'd wager that UB has the most depleted pair of teams in the NCAA (combined). I know there are several teams with people in the portal (LSU men's being a major one), but between the men and women, they each have what, 1 starter left combined? Camp is the last player standing as of now. Add a rehabbing McEvans as #2, a currently in the portal Skogman, and a team without a coach.

Even though they underperformed, I'd rather have Boals gone than Groce.

Like it matters anyway. If they bring someone good in, they'll just leave next year anyhow. Boals seems to do better bringing them in, crazy Groce seems to get more out of those he brings in.

If someone moves for a lateral position you can assume they either weren’t happy with minutes, or didn’t like the coach/culture/setup of team. What else can there be?

I mean, this guy played 28 minutes per game on a team that made the NCAA tournament. It just doesn't make sense to me as to why someone would play 4 years at a school, that they helped bring to the tournament, just to leave to go to the MVC. He played 4 years total already, so realistically he doesn't owe the school anything since he should legitimately be completed with his time (but we're in freebie 5 year Covid non-sense time), but still, it seems like just a change for sake of change.

Edit - in doing more research, he's from Missouri originally, so maybe he's just going home, which in a free 5th year seems like a rational and positive move.

  14. Trimble from Akron listed as moving on to Missouri State.  Are most of these guys just transferring to transfer? That doesn't seem like a step up in any way, for someone who has received solid minutes at Akron. I'll just never understand this nonsense. Maybe it's closer to home...I don't know much about him.

Recently followed Whitesell, Fitzpatrick, and the MBB account.

I'm hoping that means what I think it means.  Averaged 3.8 SPG two years ago, and 2.4 SPG this year.  Since Jordan and Caruthers have left we've been missing guards who get into opposing ballhandlers

We need a bunch. Let's start here and keep going.
