Sorry. Ahead of myself more than I’m ahead of your feed.

1-0 in the MAC - just like everybody predicted!
Happy for the whole team to get the W.

Right. Since we're paying two coaches right now, which one would we all rather have on our sideline at the moment earning that paycheck? For me the answer is Whitesell 100%.
Yeah of course. Would I rather be paying one head coach to do a middling job rather than two head coaches to do a very poor job? Hindsight is great. Doesn’t mean I disagree with the decision to move on from a dead end, just means it was either too soon or made by somebody who shouldn’t have been trusted with that decision.

It absolutely makes firing Whitesell a bad move if this was the plan for what followed. The firing doesn't happen in a vacuum, it was a decision of Whitesell vs the feasible alternatives. They appear to have massively overestimated the quality of the feasible alternatives.
To the extent that the AD fired without viable alternatives I absolutely agree with you. Either the plan fell through or he had no plan at all. Now we are paying two head coaches, one which isn’t on our staff and another which doesn’t seem capable.

And to think, UB is paying this staff so much more than Whitesell’s staff to be this bad. 😬
This doesn’t make firing Whitesell a bad decision, it just suggests a bad hire was made.

It’s time to accept if you haven’t already that this team may be the absolute worst in D1 basketball. Recruiting seems non-existent. Not sure what Halcovage is doing right, if he’s doing anything at all.
We absolutely need to address Alnutt before we even consider looking at the current MBB coaching staff.

Preface by saying this is purely a hypothetical at this point: if this team goes winless*, do they fire GH3 after 1 season? How can you not?
* I'm not counting a win over D-2 Roberts Wesleyan
Not a chance. No way this university will pay 3 head coaches concurrently

Don’t know that I’ve ever watched a D1 team this bad week after week. On the same level as the teams Chicago State fielded for many years.

No surprise here, but TBN has confirmed via ADMA that Coach Mo will return in 2024.
Good. Hopefully by the time Mo's contract is reconsidered it won't be ADMA picking the next HC.

Looks like they saved me some time tonight. God bless those who stick around.

I can’t be the only person feeling very discouraged by the failure to land targets? By all means I know they haven’t played a game but seeing them losing recruiting battles against lesser mid-majors is disheartening.

Or run a draw and…call a timeout on third and long?

Gonna be hard to close out if our two best players and highest volume shooters can’t hit an open shot. Hope they can get hot soon.

If nothing else I’m thankful that the TBT lets me watch Caruthers play again. I don’t care if he’s not our best ever player, I’ve never enjoyed watching a player more.

I preferred the different tones inside the arc in the last design but prefer the bigger central logo in the new design. Glad they didn't change it too significantly - good change overall

Have to imagine Utah State has the inside track given Sprinkle was his coach at Montana State. I would be impressed if the staff ended up winning this recruiting battle.

Stock Up: George Halcovage - bought a hat
Stock Down: Danny White - referenced New York State (undetermined if he also bought a hat)

I appreciate that Jack waited to assess where he fits with the new staff before making his decision. I wish him the best of luck and hope he finds success.

22 years sitting behind Boeheim and winning one championship got Hopkins the Washington gig (and his success is admittedly up for debate). I’ll take 14 years under Jay Wright over 22 years under Boeheim any day.

Glad absolutely nothing else is happening in the news so that this hire gets the coverage it deserves.

Especially considering how we got here I’m relieved that I like this hire .

I’m just asking but what would we have thought of Nate Oats if he was an outside candidate?
I think if it was the equivalent situation (ie presumptive next in line and lead recruiter for a MAC squad that just went to its first NCAA tournament) then I think you could have sold that to fans. I admittedly can’t think of a comparable assistant in the MAC I’d be excited about being involved with right now.

Supremely embarrassing.

Hearing news that other schools are hiring coaches without word of 3+ coaches rejecting them first is triggering to me and I would ask that you cease and desist.

Assistant Coach Calvin Cage leaves for Hampton

Nothing short of embarrassing to lose an Assistant coaching at his alma mater to a much smaller program. What a train wreck.
