I like this, but I’ll take Toledo in the semis. Kent vs Toledo final, and I think Toledo will get it done.

Looks like I’m already wrong. Toledo with a nice win on the road. They are hot. They’ll be tough to beat

    My predicted seedings are

    1. Toledo
    2. Kent
    3. Akron
    4. Ball St
    5. Ohio
    6. Buffalo
    7. NIU
    8. CMU

I think Akron is our Thanos this year, sorry to say, but maybe @UBinMD has it right - it was all a ploy!  Thanos was defeated in the end, right?

    I’m thinking:

    1. Kent St

    2. Toledo

    3. Akron

    4. Ball St

    5. Ohio

    6. Buffalo

    7. N Illinois

    8. Miami OH

    Semis

    Ohio v Kent St

    Akron v Toledo

    Championship

    Akron v Kent St

    Champion

    Akron

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I’m never right! Haha

  3. We just look like a young inexperienced team that needs time to gel. Definitely have some talent on the team. Seem to have a pretty good ceiling. But I’m guessing it’s going to be a very volatile year. Need to be better situationally down the stretch and work on breaking the press. But regardless, I enjoy the intensity they play with. Even if it’s not a great year in the win department, I’ll enjoy watching them this year! Which is more than I can say for the last two years!

  4. From watching the highlight, if he’s an elite athlete, theirs a tier above elite. Because he isn’t close to Jordan. Jordan is far more explosive and better at moving laterally than Powell. As long as he is gritty though, that’s a very good grab. I’m excited to see him play

  5. I agree, we are absolutely on a decline from a talent standpoint. But hopefully this incoming group plays with more cohesion than the outbound group. And that I’m really excited to see. Even if they’re less talented I’ll enjoy watching them more. Just wasn’t fun to watch iso ball. Our offense was consistently too stagnant, zero movement. I don’t know if that’s on coaching or the individual players. I’m sure it’s a little bit of both. I guess we’ll be able to see next year whose really to blame if Whitesell is still coaching the team. If that doesn’t change, I thinks it’s apparent whose at fault

  6. Really unfortunate season. This team had all the talent in the world but never seemed to play with cohesion. Odd being that many of them had been together for years. Really disappointing. I really don’t want to see this program digress, we had such a nice run. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t continue to build upon it. I guess that’s the life of a mid major. You have your runs and eventually those runs fade away

  7. I attended the game yesterday. I can attest. Absolutely zero energy in Alumni. It was rather sad. In fact, I feel bad for the players. What recruit would want to come play for a school whose home fans don’t cheer for them? Us fans had a far worse performance than the players did.

The bench was loud and in the game which was great to see. Defensively, they played hard and had active hands. We won most of the 50-50 plays.

Offensively, we still seem to have no cohesion. The ball just doesn’t move. There’s no motion to the offense. I believe that’s on the coaching staff. And the free throw shooting is atrocious. That’ll bite us in the butt down the stretch in the Mac Tourney. The players need to take some pride in getting free points.

I also think the offensive is far better when we are playing through Stogman in the post. He just makes great decisions with the ball in his hands. Great court vision, passes out on double teams.

But all in all, that’s 4 in a row! Wins against Toledo and Ohio, which I believe this team has the talent to do, and we’re looked at as the favorites again in the MAC!

    Go Bulls!! 🤘🏽

  8. I don’t know if it’s me being overly optimistic but I don’t dislike the group that we have returning next year. Jones is a pure PG, Blocker is an athletic freak and Perry is good defensively. They could play a similar role as to what Jordan and Caruthers did, early in their careers. Offensively, we’re going to have to run through Skogman. He has good posts moves, makes timely passes on double teams, and can stretch the floor. Hardnett is good defensively and efficient offensively when he’s healthy. Mading, while young and raw, is a unicorn. Williamson has the freshman Perkins build. I think offensively we may struggle. Don’t seem to have any shooters. But we, hopefully, can target Juco’s and transfers to fill that need. But most importantly, being that there are no “super stars” as somebody pointed out above, this group could grow as a team and play fun, selfless basketball. I think that is our biggest killer offensively this year. The ball sticks too much. The team seems to play selfishly
