You can't expect minds to change overnight. Trust me, even though interest level is not comparable to the Bills or Sabres yet, UB is enjoying it's highest awareness ever in WNY right now. TV ratings for UB games are good. Fans watch games in bars like 716. It's gotta build some more. I hope the school can give Nate Oats another bump in contract and get more locals to buy tickets and/or make contributions to the B&W Fund.

This is something that I'm starting to come to terms with. We've all been along for the ride for years - the average fan hasn't. As much as we want instant sellouts, we're still building in the minds of many new fans.

I think we're going to enjoy one of those best years we've had in terms of public support/attendance and buzz. The AD(epartment) is doing it's job, winning, raising profile and maintaining academic standards. We're going to become hard to ignore soon.

Do you still feel this way?

SIU is a HUGE home game.  The Bulls could actually be in at-large contention this year.

For the most part, yes. Winning 3 of 4 to end the (calendar) year would certainly put us in contention but the MAC has some weak teams so I fear a couple losses would still hurt our chances.

I also think the idea of being an at-large would be really cool but would always rather win the conference and have a loss + at-large be a worst-case fallback.

The more I think about the home and home non conference deal the more I like it & hope we continue scheduling the same way.

Absolutely agree with this. I've loved the schedule so far. Tough road trips, a tournament, a few marquee opponents. One thing is for sure - we'll be battle tested by the time MAC play begins.

I also agree that this is not a game to be taken lightly (and i don't think it will be). I'm really hoping the public shows up big for this one. We'll be ranked 17th or better, playing an 8-3 or 7-4 team with a little history. Let's keep winning at home and start winning over the fans that are waiting to be had!
