What about Joe Harasymiak out of Rutgers? Young, but has some head coaching experience in the northeast at Maine.

He was a finalist last time. Would not be surprising at all and would be a great get.

  2. I'm hoping that DJ Mangas can invigorate this offense. Besides the 4-5 headed RB tandem and some interesting WR transfers (Harding and Morrow), the rest of the offense needs to significantly improve from last year to make a difference this season. None of the starting OL had an above average grade from PFF last season (60.0+).

On the other hand, this is, by far, the best defense that UB has ever had. All 8 DL on the 2-deep are difference makers. Both LBers, Dolac and Andreesen are studs. The secondary needs to be better, but if Tre Hines plays like he did in the bowl game, there is much less to worry about.

I guess we’ll see about that. I counted a hundred maybe fans in the seats at a recent game and I think it was their Super Bowl game too. Plus who would gamble on this level of football?

I give it one more year before they shut it down and replace spring football with Cornhole for good.

XFL was a really good product this year, and a pleasure to bet on.

USFL is now a second rate spring league, becasue XFL got the head start this year and timed the schedule better with the NFL off-season schedule. I do think there is only room for one spring league, and XFL has much better backers.

I thought a few more guys would have got a shot (and maybe they still will).  Specifically Elijah Blades and Quian Williams..

Blades had some baggage, but definitely surprised that Quian and Jahmin Muse didn't get any action. With both XFL and USFL now, I wonder if more guys like them have a chance to prove themselves for next season.

Will be interesting to see the turnover in those leagues each year as a whole new "class" becomes available

Didn't know where to post this but thought it was relevant to UB and recent conversations on our board regarding NIL collectives and facilities. Woj is absolutely correct. It sucks to admit as a mid-major program but a huge part of recruiting now is paying up and taking a year-to-year approach. Will be interesting to see how we fill out our roster.

As a UB donor, I would 100% much rather invest in facilities, transport, and player experiences (trips, food, equipment, etc.) than NIL.

I know the landscape nationally has changed a bit, but these NIL collectives end up hurting the schools. It is only a short term boost if they can get a better recruit, but the program doesn't have too many long-term benefits. For example, if a donor usually gives $500,000 a year to the basketball program, but is now persuaded to give that $500,000 to the NIL collective, the school eventually runs out of money for itself. The one expiration to this is if the program reaches new heights and gets into a better conference and/or sells exponentially more apparel or tickets.

At the mid-major level, the exception isn't likely. Let's put money and resources into the school, into the program and find recruits that want to win basketball games, not get paid enough to drive around in a new sports car.

I thought I had fake sources? Pretty lucky guess on Jones I guess.

I found it interesting that he hasn't been officially declined and liked a tweet I was mentioned in.

Never said you had fake sources. Said you had unreliable sources, which I stand behind.
