Caleb Offord into the portal. I'm hoping this means he's deeper on the depth chart than he would like, and therefore we have better CBs than last year

Would love Whitesell back as a AC

He is polar opposite of Mo.
Humble, zero overconfidence, preaches doing things the right way without flash.
Impressed by Day 1 - Let's see what he does now.

Coach Pickering has been very active on X promoting UB, so I think he wants to stay on!
At this point, let's give him the HC job. He has HC experience (in HS) and seems to have the right attitude.

What about Joe Harasymiak out of Rutgers? Young, but has some head coaching experience in the northeast at Maine.
He was a finalist last time. Would not be surprising at all and would be a great get.

I’ll have to eat my words after something wacky happens but I wouldn’t call anyone who loses to Albany by more than 20 a quality opponent.
Albany lost to Marshall by only 4 points. They aren't the Albany of 15 years ago.

I'm hoping that DJ Mangas can invigorate this offense. Besides the 4-5 headed RB tandem and some interesting WR transfers (Harding and Morrow), the rest of the offense needs to significantly improve from last year to make a difference this season. None of the starting OL had an above average grade from PFF last season (60.0+).
On the other hand, this is, by far, the best defense that UB has ever had. All 8 DL on the 2-deep are difference makers. Both LBers, Dolac and Andreesen are studs. The secondary needs to be better, but if Tre Hines plays like he did in the bowl game, there is much less to worry about.

Morrow, McMillan, and Harding replacing Gassett, Quian, and Marshall.
If Curry is healthy and Harrity improves in year 2 with the program, the WR group is better as a whole than ever before.

I give it one more year before they shut it down and replace spring football with Cornhole for good.
XFL was a really good product this year, and a pleasure to bet on.
USFL is now a second rate spring league, becasue XFL got the head start this year and timed the schedule better with the NFL off-season schedule. I do think there is only room for one spring league, and XFL has much better backers.

Committed to Cal State LA (d2) per his instagram. Probably saw a better chance at playing time. On to the next one!
Odd.

I thought a few more guys would have got a shot (and maybe they still will). Specifically Elijah Blades and Quian Williams..
Blades had some baggage, but definitely surprised that Quian and Jahmin Muse didn't get any action. With both XFL and USFL now, I wonder if more guys like them have a chance to prove themselves for next season.
Will be interesting to see the turnover in those leagues each year as a whole new "class" becomes available -

Didn't know where to post this but thought it was relevant to UB and recent conversations on our board regarding NIL collectives and facilities. Woj is absolutely correct. It sucks to admit as a mid-major program but a huge part of recruiting now is paying up and taking a year-to-year approach. Will be interesting to see how we fill out our roster.
As a UB donor, I would 100% much rather invest in facilities, transport, and player experiences (trips, food, equipment, etc.) than NIL.
I know the landscape nationally has changed a bit, but these NIL collectives end up hurting the schools. It is only a short term boost if they can get a better recruit, but the program doesn't have too many long-term benefits. For example, if a donor usually gives $500,000 a year to the basketball program, but is now persuaded to give that $500,000 to the NIL collective, the school eventually runs out of money for itself. The one expiration to this is if the program reaches new heights and gets into a better conference and/or sells exponentially more apparel or tickets. At the mid-major level, the exception isn't likely. Let's put money and resources into the school, into the program and find recruits that want to win basketball games, not get paid enough to drive around in a new sports car.

Are you insinuating that my facts (losing players, losing coaches, losing games) aren't true?

From the outside looking in, I've never seen a more toxic program. Can't keep coaches, can't keep players, can't win much.

He obviously needs to find assistant coaches with willing wives. Might take some time

And, getting a member of the Jay Wright coaching tree is definitely a big plus. Tine will tell. . .
His tree hasn't produced much fruit. With that said, I do think Halcovage is slightly different than the others in the past and is likely in a better situation than other former assistants

Except see what conference those schools are in next year. They’re all gone
Yes, but all the money stays in the conference, so CUSA will be in a good spot moving forward.

If Jay Wright and Jalen Brunson both approve, how can you not be pumped up?

Halcovage. Resume is impressive. Time to support him and get him started on the right foot.

I thought I had fake sources? Pretty lucky guess on Jones I guess.
I found it interesting that he hasn't been officially declined and liked a tweet I was mentioned in.
Never said you had fake sources. Said you had unreliable sources, which I stand behind.

Latest from TBN (nothing new here, simply confirms Rob Jones and Halcovage)
I think I would much rather have Halcovage, but seeing what Jones can do with a real budget might be exciting.
