I really expect the update to be that he was released. He must have really impressed them even as a project and often injured. Best of luck!

Finally some good PR

I know Blue Collar U is not officially part of UB but what an opportunity lost. UB is so not ready for a bigger conference.

We can’t fault or complain about coach Halcovage for building a roster. As @Tee4three said, finding glue guys/program guys. Coach has the luxury of time to build. I get we all want instant results and flashy signees. But let’s not forget what got us into the mess…trying to put bandaids on compound fractures. Meaning, trying to find the plug and play portal hit and not roster building.
Bandaids on compound fractures….I am going to steal that one

I have a feeling this staff intends on having a full roster.
I am going to walk the dog, how knows maybe some news when I get back. Maybe that does not work for all of us…

Jack to the portal. I didn’t want to rain on the Jack love but it felt like he wasn’t going to be a fit if Halcovage runs his offense like Nova. They’re similar to McCollum’s offenses in that they value skill and shooting over size. Best of luck to him
As long as he does not end up in the MAC.

I will take losing coaches to bigger programs all day vs firing coaches for underachieving. The trick may be (if what we saw in this search was true), are we attractive enough to an up and comer again and again who will need to succeed with limited resources or face termination. I want the coach who is not afraid of that challenge but finding that coach may be messy.

My guess is that you will call for him to be fired 1-3 games into the season, like every other UB coach.
I will take the under.

I heard people are saying that this has been in the works for weeks and the leaks were all untrue
Thank you, was that so hard?
now will you respect me in the morning?

Ok I know they have to say nice things but I AM READY FOR A NEW ERA!
You expect nice things but seems like more than needed. Also interesting these was all ready as soon as it was announced. Is someone working damage control? Would love to know the true timeline.
if nothing else tell me this has been in the works for weeks and the leaks were all untrue…lie to me if you have to.- 2

Our dogs will always be there for us….

Giving how well this has been going, maybe we are better off not getting their 1st-15th choices, maybe we will get the right person by accident….
assuming we ever get a coach, remember the process was not their fault and he starts with a clean slate (unless it ends up being some who turned us die. To start….)

On behalf of the UB board trolls association, I would like to apologize for UB Horns. He does not represent our group.

Well if the MBB coach’s salary is tied to the WBB coach’s salary then it is official winning games plays no part in the decision making. If it comes out that that is true (and not frustrate fan talk) I am so done with the school and athletic programs.
-
This is the kind of optics that make me consider just checking out. Was never a big BB anyway but there had been success so I got pulled in. I can understand down years when players do not turn out to be what you expect but this is really making the school/program look like a joke. This is on MA, seems like he was going after the right type of coach but you cannot get publicly rejected like this. If Coach K turns you down, no big surprise but you have to understand you were not going to get him so why try….
I know I am all over the place with this now but maybe it come down to if heads do not roll and this is okay with the powers that be why bother as a fan. It started off so well, 9-9 in the MAC in not good enough we need to make a change. Well getting publicly turned down repeatedly is not good enough…
one name I have not heard put out the, the one everyone loves, Christian Laettner. Don’t care either way just thought he came up once before. Just realized that is the 2nd Duke reference not intentional and not a Duke guy either

I may have zero knowledge of what the plan was but I am assuming this was not it when they let JW go just weeks before saving 100k

The silence is deafening.
Man I am glad I did not know about JW getting fired for 10 days. Glad that 9-9 in MAC play will get you fired now a days. Really, there was talent it just underperformed for the last 4 years. The names we are hearing seem to be good. The big fear is we will get someone from left field that is no where near as impressive on paper as the names we have seen.
I am fine if the silly blue color shirts go away, I just want to see the hustle come back, too often the D looked disinterested….
ready to turn the page, just want to see who’s name is o. The next page…

I live in Maryville, MO, home of Northwest Missouri State University. I see the questions, so I thought I'd give a little insight on what you will see offensively if Ben becomes your next coach. They don't play fast, but they play efficient. NWMSU has led or been near the top of all levels of college basketball in offensive efficiency the last several years... points per possession. You will see a lot of player and ball movement, ball screens, and some isolations when there are mismatches. NWMSU's scoring has typically come from getting to the basket and/or making 3s... you don't see a lot of mid range shots taken. They will take the break off of a turnover or a long rebound if it's there, but they don't really attempt to push the ball off of made baskets. You will probably never see a guy come down the court and immediately pull up off the dribble, but that doesn't mean his teams are always trying to run clock... they'll take an early shot if it's a good shot. He doesn't want players turning down shots or penetration when its available. I've always been kind of a push the ball guy... play fast, but NW plays with some of the prettiest unselfish ball movement that makes it just as fun to watch. He's had exceptional point guards that can score and control the pace during his time in Maryville, so that will probably be a key for him to make happen wherever he lands. On the defensive end, his teams always guard hard... the intensity and intelligence that his teams play defense with is exceptional. We hate to lose him, but it is inevitable that we will... you're getting a good one if he ends up as your coach.
Thank you for your input, we will see what happens.

Gee, I did not check the board or read any news about UB for a couple of weeks….I missed a lot…

Hey, it is down to one every two mins!

Averaging a turnover a min is not good right?

Jackson Paradis - freshman RB is now in the transfer portal. The RB room got full quick, can’t blame him.
Jason McCarthy - RS freshman LB is also in the portal. Doesn’t look like he saw the field at all. Not sure he was even on the 2022 roster.
Was kind of expecting Paradis, with all the injuries he did not get a look.
Congrats Justin Marshall, Desmond Bessent & James Patterson!

Must have been all that Russian collusion that got him to sue the NFL.
