UB is bad, but I think that they have improved from the start of the season at least. This game would be a lot closer if Chatman was having an average game and Sullinger wasn’t sinking 40 footers.
Pretty spot on. Was going to post almost the exact observation.

Unfortunately agreed, but if he goes on to have a long NBA career I think he'd be deserving. Local kid too.
We're staring down a serious drought in honor-worthy numbers post glory years if things don't change.
I agree.
I always imagined our first modern era NBA player would certainly be someone who was outstanding with us or someone from the glory years but oddly enough "Nate" as good as he was didn't move the needle here as much. Like youd say for Khalil Mack.
That being said, Im still amazed how well hes played in the regular season NBA games that hes already played in. If it turns into something bigger in his career he definitely will need recognition for that alone. Because its not like he played 4 games here then went onto Duke then the NBA. He played his career here and put up points and for the most part grew year after year.

Turner Battle speech was great. Can't believe how time flies. Feels like just yesterday I was watching the crowd record smashing NIU home game in 2004. There can never be another crowd like that (because of the bench side bleachers being gone)
I dont even care if they win this one but Im glad they put up a very nice first half leading into the speech!

We held up our end of the MAC-SB challenge today, rest of the conference dragging us down.

Halcovage improves to 1-4 against teams with other first year HCs
As long as EMU and WMU are missing their leading scorer we might be able to backdoor 5 wins
Could sneak one out against NIU as well. Lets get crazy.

Throw the ball into the backcourt and dribble??
I couldn't believe that play. It took him 2 seconds just to get it the the 23 ft area. Terrible. An even worse shot attempt.

Wow great win! Defintely thought once we let them take the lead under min left we would fold. But they fought back all OT long. Huge 4 pt play.
-
The record matchup in the mac belt showdown certainly could help us to a "2nd" win
So far we certainly look game enough

I don't hate hate it but I don't have any other opinion about it at this point. Not much to go on here.
I think I was just ready for something new. Anything really.

After that bad second half for the Bulls, I found the Rio GV G League game also on ESPN+ (still in progress) and Williams currently with 12 pts 9 boards.
Looks pretty good overall. I think he'll get back into the NBA again.
Amazingly after last year Houston is 18-17 and in 8th in the West this year so might be slightly tougher to get back up. Almost wish he stayed with Portland this year as they are awful again.
EDIT: And of course as soon as I say that hes out of the game with an ankle injury.

1-0 in the "new season" !

Lastly I'll add I have a weird excitement for the Niagara game. And it has nothing to do with the local rivalry that used to be somewhat fun.
Mostly because it's a 3-9 team, our last chance to get an OOC win on the record in 2023.
We've been pretty much playing either very good or solid teams the entire schedule.
It's a must win game even though this year isn't about the Ws, but it's just an early season benchmark. If they are improving as it seems, it would be great to see them really show out.

I will say to start this game I enjoyed the approach. They worked hard on defense with good intensity and on offense every player has the greenlight to shoot a three within 5 seconds.
Seemed fun for a bit but after a while they missed so many of those 3s so badly, Im shocked we went 7-37 from 3. Felt like 2-50 honestly.
That being said why not try something.
Truth is the end of the game showed they need a bit more balance in the approach. Let the skill guys get the bucket in between the 3 pt attempts.
I don't hate the idea of us trying to become a run and gun team but you gotta make the shots look better.
I figured sabol would be the most up for this style but he was the most hesitant during the early barrage and seemed to always pass it off.
All that being said you can see GH experimenting still with different styles but if the effort and hustle remain at this level for the remainder of the season they'll win some games for sure.

With tonight's loss, Buffalo drops to 1-10 on the season, matching their worst record through 11 games since returning to Division 1 under Dan Bazzani in 1991-92.
Great one of those pointless ESPN type stats the media loves to put out for no reason. Literally service no purpose but thanks.
They also won 4-5 games total in the early Battle Reggie startup days before they quickly turned it around with generally the same roster (granted the battle injury was depressing that season). It's all relative. Has nothing to do with this team.

As for D3 SUNY schools, the only one in the immediate area unless you jump a bit further to say Fredonia is Buff St. Theyve had moments of glory but all of those are pieces of ancient history. I'll never forget they beat Lance and UW-WW 7-6 about a decade ago for one of his rare losses.
I always kinda rooted for them to do more but probably never happening. Always had a soft spot for that campus. The old school vibe, the "art district" and hoyt lake. But also the basketball arena and hockey rink, for being D3, are very solid.
Id sadly argue I like both of those facilities better than Niagaras aesthetics wise.

That isn’t possible in Western New York to aspire to be Connecticut Huskies nor would I want to. Because as a Western New Yorker I already feel more sports superior than anything in Connecticut it’s like Alabama same deal. Some NCAA college championships don’t matter they still have to call those horrible places home no thank you. Why would Buffalo/Western New York want to aspire to be that? As a Buffalo Bulls fan and Buffalonian no. I have no interest in supporting a UB Bulls low rent Division I hockey team with less than 2,000 UB fans at potentially Northtowns Center nor do I have the time to follow that it’s a horrible idea started by Bucky Gleason who was a hockey writer for the Buffalo News. I already root for the a low rent NHL hockey team the Buffalo Sabres that are a complete embarrassment for the last 13 years and counting they should probably be contracted if we are telling it like it is. Which I realize is hard for people to tell it like it is with some common sense behind it today.
I personally completely ignore not one but two Canisius and Niagara low rent Division I hockey teams twenty minutes from my home. I am a Canisius alum and could careless and wish Canisius would drop hockey to pool it’s limited resources for basketball like St Bonaventure Bonnies do who don’t have hockey which is smart. UB and UB athletics should stay away from the money pit that is college hockey it’s not worth the added cost. Few care in Western New York about college hockey in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo
P.S. Eastern Michigan is removing there track so I think I read UB football will be one of two other football schools in FBS. It’s time to remove the track from UB Stadium UB should focus on that forget about college hockey it’s expensive and would eat into limited resources UB athletics already has in my opinion.
Just about everything you said hockey related is just an absolutely terrible take. You must simply hate the sport of hockey. I'm not even sure where to begin. NU and Canisius have had their competitive years in D1 hockey. One even being in the tournament recently. Granted their ceilings can never be high.
UB would have a much higher ceiling. Think Penn St. I kinda wish pegula had plugged similar resources at UB because Penn St D1 hockey instantly became a contender behind his money. Again he went there so kind of a non starter other than the fact he owns the two higher pro teams here.
As for the Sabres they literally missed the playoffs by mere pts last year with a lot of upside players. Granted they haven't exactly seized that momentum this year so far (for some reason they can only beat the top teams in the league). However they are finally on a decent trajectory for once since the Ruff days.
To outright say they should contract is an embarrassing take for a so called buffalonian. Yikes. But keep on staying positive as always lol

81-66. A lot to like in that game.
-
Confidence is growing with Sabol.
I liked the JMU announce crew honestly. Did a lot of good work on UB, Buffalo and GH3 with his recruits.
-
JMU 9/9 fg stretch now. Even despite that its only 19 pts thanks to some heating up from Chatman
-
48-38 12:55 left still hanging in there
Edit: Quick 5 for JMU

Although we'll see what the second half has in store.
Short bench, No adams etc might show up even more in the 2nd half.
If they can at the very least just keep up on the D end that will be nice.
