Powell just can’t do enough for this team

All the Bulls need is 7 more points.

I've only read a spattering of comments in this thread but here are a few random comments:
- PA Announcements: Nane, and relentless noise? You do realize that everything what comes out of the PA Announcer is entirely scripted (except for the in-game announcements). It is all the promos he needs to read. Never does he add rambling thoughts. Yes, it can be loud. Yes, the DJ might be one rambling but that is not very often (and only added in the past few seasons).
My criticism of the PA dude comes across as ‘ad hominem’. I wish I hadn’t put my beef as such. However, we are done with UB basketball because of noise unrelated to the game, the band, the cheering et al.

Over the past 20+ years I have attended nearly every men’s home game. The atmosphere inside the arena has often been electric. But as I get older (Class of ‘75 alum) I find myself making excuses for not going. Why? Like many in this group, I bristle that UB does not go all-in on the BB program, and I’m often disappointed in the poor showing by students. But in truth it’s also the cumulative effect of smaller things…frequent coinciding events at Center for Arts makes parking difficult, egress from campus is maddening thanks to Campus police, amenities in AA are poor (long lines for rest rooms and refreshments), and lastly, it’s time to dump this repetitive, irritating DJ concept…
My wife and I did not renew our season tickets after the 2019-2020 season. We had been season ticket holders for about 10 years, and rarely missed a men’s game. I sent an email to the powers - that - be explaining our reason for not renewing. It wasn’t Covid, parking, winter weather, a drop off in competitiveness…it was because of the inane, and relentless noise emanating from the guy who handles the PA duties. We’re both 73, and the music that the DJs play is not in our wheelhouse. But the ‘music’ paled in comparison to the main PA dude. Any break in the action - we couldn’t even hear each other talk, because he was shouting into the mic. He drained all the joy out of watching live basketball.

Is there any reason why Blocker can’t get more of Powell’s minutes? Powell takes a lot of shots, including 3s, and his percentages are bad. What am I missing?

At least there seems to be a pretty decent crowd. Good to see the students back supporting their team.

Do agree. Foster seems like he is becoming more comfortable in his play. It is a wonderful thing when we can have great stats in several categories. I did not see the game but was there better overall ball movement where the guys were getting open shots?? But of course better ball movement and open shots mean success when we can make them. Wonder if this is what we will see the rest of the year or can they become a more consistent team on the positive side? Go Bulls!
Ball St began turning the ball over right from the start, and UB was on fire. Foster fed Jack for a couple layups and Jones and Adams hit a couple outside shots. I didn’t see anything different from other games except everything was falling. Some of Ball State’s TOs were unforced. Sparks was a non entity. Their only weapon, Coleman, started cooking later and couldn’t miss. As others have already mentioned, it was great to see the Bulls hit back after the Cardinals cut the lead to 9. This team is fun to watch, and when they are on they’ll match up with anybody in the MAC. Can they be consistent? Let’s see how they follow up at Kent on Friday. The Golden Flashes will be licking their wounds, but I think the Bulls can give them a game.

We could have won this at the foul line.
That’s one of the Bulls’ achilles tendons

Refs doing a remarkable job
-
Have to go on a run and get some stops before the half
-
Do the Bulls have another run in them?

Nice win, Jack making strides. Gonna need him if we are going to have a chance at winning this. These next 3 games gonna be a big tell tale of where we stand in the conference. Miami of Ohio a game we should win but always scary with Mekhi Lairy as he can go off and drop 30+ on you. Brutal stretch second half of the month against Toledo, ball state, Kent state and Akron. Need to have a strong showing these next few..
Watching Kent at Miami. Miami has a guy, Anderson Mirambeaux, who’s 6’8” and is listed at 305 - but looks like possibly 325, and moves like he’s…sub 300. It will be interesting to see how Jack does versus him.

That was a great pass to Adams though, he draws a lot of attention
True. Maybe not a hog, but he seems to hold the ball a lot, or one on one it too much.

Powell’s a hog.
-
UB shooting 60% from everywhere. NIU 33%. Keep it going!
-
The TV crew hasn’t mentioned it, but I think Jack is changing the trajectory of some of the Huskies’ shots.

Passing looks great!
