  1. It’s possible, although unlikely, that the Big 3 could return next year. And that’s not including BB, who might qualify as a player/coach - if the NCAA adjusts to the dynamics of DI collegiate basketball in an inclusionary fashion. The sky is the limit.

So now we go from me not understanding metrics to you now saying "IT WAS BACK OF THE NAPKIN MATH". After the point was made clear. The 2nd best class in school history is the current 4 seed in the MAC tournament with now a 20% chance to win the MAC (super subjective and that's way too high and you know it). Which is still 7% less than last year.

    Check out Teamrankings.com

FWIW, it ranks UB 97th after their win yesterday. It also claims UB has a 22% chance of winning it all in Cleveland.

  3. One thing I noticed yesterday (aside from everything positive for UB) was when Mballa attempted to bring the ball upcourt after a defensive rebound. He tried to dribble behind his back, and was called for a double dribble. The TV announcers alluded to the fact that in their day, anyone, other than a guard  would have immediately been pulled from the game. Mballa wasn’t. Later in the first half Williams had a reach-in foul called. It was his second foul, and there was about a minute remaining in the first half. Whitesell pulled him, but Williams was apparently whining about it. I didn’t like how that looked.

  4. One thing we can agree on. The woman singing “America the Beautiful” weighs less than 100 pounds. Oh now we’ve got a real heavyweight singing the National Anthem…she must go 115. I’m not going to let it stop me: I will gain 5 pounds no matter who wins.

  5. I hope the Bulls finish the season playing their best, and it would be great to win it all in Cleveland. However, I don’t feel that Buffalo has any edge in talent over some of the top teams, and have grown to believe there are at least 2 better head coaches from that top tier: Groce, and Boals…not necessarily in that order. With respect to raw talent: Segu is fun to watch, has a lot of tools offensively, and is clutch but his size handicaps him defensively. Mballa clearly has regressed this season. Williams is the only Bull who belongs on the all MAC first team. Jack and Skogman have shown flashes of brilliance, and will have to bring their A game down the stretch, for the Bulls to have any chance at dancing. The bench, as someone already wrote, will have to contribute minutes especially in Cleveland, but I don’t expect much in the way of scoring or clutch play.

I was at every home game in that stretch. Religiously went to watch fun and exciting basketball. Not sure where you’re getting that from but there was consistently people standing along the railings 2 rows deep

I just checked attendance per ESPN for all home games at Alumni Arena for the 2018-2019 season. For some reason, I couldn’t get the attendance for the Central Michigan or the Akron games. Here is what I found.

ESPN lists Alumni Arena’s capacity at 6783. Kenpom lists it at 6100, as does UB. Therefore, there were at least 5 SRO games during the 2018-2019 season. Let’s say that there were seven SRO games. That means that 50% of the home games were SRO when the team was a top 25 ranked team. Congratulations.

Let me list the excuses…1) it’s snowing 2) the Sabres are playing 3) bla bla bla…it’s pretty clear the community doesn’t care about this team. Just hope students do when they return.

FWIW: My wife and I had great season tix for 10 years. Went to almost every game. Then COVID hit…we are in our early 70s. We did not renew our season tickets, but not because of the play - and not because of Covid, or fear of slipping on ice while walking from the car to Alumni Arena. The reason we didn’t renew was because of the inane artificial noise during play stoppages. It’s obnoxious, relentless, and loud. It’s so loud that it was we couldn’t hear each other talk - unless the game was in progress. Think about that. It’s not just UB…I get it. I won’t even go to a Bisons game for the same reason. I’d rather bring a lawn chair to a local diamond to watch a ballgame. The marketers are driving people like us away.
