He also pays for almost the entire budget for the non-revenue sports with all of the home games.

I thought their high tuition costs would pay for it and anything basketball makes would go back into basketball or Boehiem’s salary.

Bringing this to the last page.

This roster is really easy to get excited for!

Here’s what I realistically think the starting 5 will look like...

    1) Davonta Jordan

    2) Antwain Johnson

    3) Jayvon Graves

    4) David Nickleberry

    5) LaQuill Hardnett

Bench - 6th man would be Jeenathan Williams then Segu then Skogman/Brock.

Thoughts? I’ll hang up and listen.

I just want to fill this last spot with a solid forward like John or Hardnett so that I can stop checking ubfan every 30 minutes for an update. I don’t ask for a lot, just a 3 or maybe even 4 star center in the summer signing period. Work with me here

I hear ya. Can we get a solid 3 or 4 star center or PF as the last recruit so we can stop checking this every day. There’s gotta be some gem out there or even JUCO player ready to commit.

I'll be there, it's tomorrow morning at 10AM. I'll have his quotes and ask him a few questions

Ask him if he can get St. Johns to play UB in the Garden (since he used to coach at St. Johns) and for us to get a return game at alumni. We should play them and Cuse every year. Just ask about scheduling at a high level overall in non-conference.

It will be tomorrow. Or perhaps, in keeping with the modus operandi, ten days from tomorrow. Either way it will be all the news that’s fit to print.

Can’t wait to hear from Whitsell on his plans and status of recruits/current players. Gotta give us something tomorrow to make us feel good about next season.

  6. Never understood the fascination with Reggie or Battle for that matter coaching wise. Reggie can’t manage a game. Calls time outs at the most strange times and his rotation/ substitutions are questionable. He always reminded me of a ref who blew the whistle too much and made the game about him. The players should dictate the outcome not the side show refs or coaches for that matter.

The thing that I don't understand is why is Hodgson liking tweets of his commitment to Alabama? Has he officially resigned as a coach at UB? Isn't he trying to become the head coach at UB? I'm sorry, but that's more shady-ness. If you want to go with your boy, its fine, then quit at UB and just go away, don't pretend that you want to coach here. Additionally if he is still coaching at UB, his recent actions are a major conflict of interest and breach of contract.

What’s your point? So UB fires him? He’ll be really hurting when he goes to Alabama. There’s no shady-ness. UB needs to step up and doing something. They need to make a decision and I have no idea why it’s taking this long. I hope this AD even prepared ahead of time for the possibility of Oats leaving and he did.

Is it just me or does this Hawkins thing really seem shady? From what I read here anyway, Hodgson is trying to hold UB hostage via an 18 year old kid. I mean, he's not Lebron. Yes, we should want him, but I'm more concerned about the shady-ness of someone who is supposedly currently employed by UB. I completely don't understand how contracts work in this business. Additionally, if I'm in charge and I'm approached in this manner by a current employee who is looking for advancement, trying to strong-arm me isn't the way I'd like to be moved into a decision. Personally, I don't work that way, and I don't think UB should either.

It’s called negotiating. Hodgson has leverage because he has nothing to lose. Oats has a job for him at Alabama. All of you people on here who are hurt by his actions don’t understand negotiation. Hodgson will be fine either way, UB on the other hand can lose if they don’t hire him.

  9. I’m not thrilled about Rob Lanier. Didn’t he fail at Siena? That’s basically like failing at Canisius or Niagara. He’s also job hopped around and interviews often. What if he starts looking again after only a year? Also, I could care less if he’s from Buffalo. I rather hire someone with deep aau or juco recruiting ties and Hodgson is that guy. Hodgson is still hungry while I think Rob has been collecting good salaries as Associate coach around many schools. Get someone younger, hungry and that will focus on building off this last 5 years.

I’m not looking for a fight here but what makes you think Hawkins has “it”? That you’re so ready to put him in the starting lineup. Is it bc he’s 6’10? Bc he’s a 4 star rated as opposed to the 3/3.5 that Jeenathan was? He hasn’t stepped foot on a college court and he’s in the starting 5...gotta earn that. Plus have you seen his body...it needs work. Perkins didn’t become chiseled right away...just like it’s going to take him a little bit.

I agree this is his best chance to start sooner than later but I don’t think he comes in and starts right away.

I hear you but...What dues does he have to pay? We have no seniors at the 4 or 5 next year. Who is the entrenched starter he has to sit behind? There’s a whole new front court available. And you can’t teach height and his tapes show athleticism on offense AND defense. Worse case scenario he is a young Ikena Smart and in that case, he still helps us as a starter. Jeenathan had seniors ahead of him and frankly, I don’t think he’s that good.
