If I were Hawkins, this would be the best chance for him to start. He can slide into the 5, Allen at 4, Graves at 3, Johnson at 2 and Jordan at 1. Rojas and Grant off the bench first with Noah backing up the guards. I’m not big on both Segu or Williams. They just seem not to have “it”.They just don’t play defense as well. 

Way too early prediction but what are the chances we start next season ranked in the top 25? Hear me out, Oats stays, we get Hawkins to start along with the return of Jordan and Graves. Add Johnson and Allen to the starting lineup. That’s a solid starting 5. Plus Williams and Rojas off the bench. Contenders again. Thoughts?

I don’t know about you guys but I’m rooting for all the other low seeds to lose before the sweet 16 so if we get to the sweet 16, we’ll get more attention nationally. People love the underdog and the media will put us first. Go Bulls

It’s because they play in the MAC. You can’t have a coach making 1million and the other 11 making 500k. Simple as that.

If you check his twitter, for someone who hasn’t committed yet, his retweets are very very Pro- UB. I’d find it shocking if he doesn’t committ to Buffalo because of all these positive signs he shares on social media. But who knows. It’s not official until it’s official. Hoping for the best.

I agree with you. But it won’t sit well with the rest of the league but more importantly, if we are paying P5 money to our staff/program, why not make the move to a better conference? This will push them more to move on from the MAC. Success leads to higher cost to keep it going. Might as well step our conference game up too.

I still don’t think Reggie can manage a game well. His use of time outs and personnel substitutions were always quesionable. What happened with one of his best players Reese? He quit on the team or did Reggie tick him off? Good coaches are expected to keep their team together. Better luck next year Reggie.

I think one obstacle that many people don’t bring up is the MAC conference cap in salary. If we pay him say 1.5 mil, the next highest paid coach is what 700k? That would piss off many other ADs because then all the other coaches in the MAC will use that to raise their salaries eventually. 

Does Hawkins have family in western NY? Legit question. One thing I know if he commits, he’ll be part of the UB basketball fam for life. Go Bulls!

Huge get for Buffalo. Future is bright. Watch us make a run in the tourney and more players wanting us to offer them. I know we got one offer left and hope it goes to a big. Go Bulls!

Off topic a bit but anyone know if UB gets a bigger piece of the revenue dollars if they go deep into the tourney. For example, if they make it to the sweet 16 can they make a profit so that it can be used to elevate the basketball program even more. Maybe use it to pay Oats, better travel etc.

I don’t know if anyone else has thought about it like this but hope we can all just take a moment, take a deep breath and enjoy living in the present. This team is special. Might be the best in UB history who knows. Cherish every minute and enjoy the ride. Lets keep the good times going. 

Any update on the field house? Can we see some pictures of the progress?

I personally think that Oats IS the better coach than Hurley.

Seems like when we are supposed to have a tough game the officiating is horrible and that was the case again tonight. It was just obvious and I don’t want to seem like I’m blaming the officials, to prove that we even won and I’m still bringing it up. That said, did anyone else notice that in the second half Nate relied on the veteran players more than Segu and Williams? Coincidence that we played better? I don’t think so. I hope we maximize the minutes left of the seniors. The freshman will have 3 more years of playing time. Let’s put teams away and play our best players at this time. Go Bulls.

Love these updates. Keep them coming. Hopefully we hear some good news soon with a new commit.

Completely disagree.  One of the keys to the WBB team winning the 2016 MAC Tournament was a freshman, Gabi Bade, stepping up in the semifinals scoring 13 when (2018 All MAC 2nd Team) Stephanie Reid fouled out. 

We don't need to give them 25 minutes each, but they can't sit out the entire game.

Reread what I wrote. I said if they have real foul trouble, then they can play the freshmen. My point is we don’t need to be giving charity mins in the first or second half for the new players. If Jordan has to sit, Carruthers/CJ/Graves can run the point. Harris/Graves/CJ don’t foul out so they can play and work through their shooting woes especially Harris recently who just needs to shoot through it. He just just needs to find a rhythm. Bottom line - the good veteran players need to play now to get ready for tournament time. 

I think oats needs to quit messing around and stick to playing the upper classmen only. Segu and Williams will have 3 years to play more minutes. The games we lost in the MAC they both got more mins. This team is good because of the seniors and guys who played last year Jordan/Graves. They are the ones that won over Arizona and beat WV/Cuse. I honestly dont care about the freshmens development for next year. We should want to win THIS year when we have this historical senior laden team. That said stick to a 7 man rotation going forward only play the freshman at the end of the games or when really in foul trouble.  Just my opinion. 

If we were to ever join a P5 conference, the deal would have to order that we renovate that generic awful track/football Stadium of ours or knock it down to rebuild a new one with more seats closer to the field. 

Unrelated topic but anyone watch the game on Espn3 and notice it’s hard to hear the crowd at all after a momentous dunk or run by UB? I know that it had to be loud in the arena after those dunks tonight but watching the broadcast it seems like they are playing in a library and all you hear is the announcers. Can’t they turn up the mic to get the crowd noise in? Anyone else notice this?
