The blogger wants to spam the board and drum up controversy but the reality is that Reggie is right.

No one cares about the Big 4. That is a made up term by the Buffalo News.

Canisius plays big name schools every year. No one really cares about these games local games. The reason they have a tiny gym is because they don’t have fans. This wasn’t their super bowl and that comment was only meant to make the Bulls sound great.  As if they are like Alabama football or something

i didn’t care for the comment and believe Reggie was being honest

There are many of us in this area who care about the local teams and I guess you have not met us. Canisius and Niagara have always had small gyms and if you look around the country many schools have small gyms. That does not diminish the fact that there are fans for these teams. No problem with Reggie’s comments but anyone who knew the situation of Reggie’s firing knows he is still bitter about that. I still wish him success at Canisius. If you are trying to compare this to the Alabama, the Duke’s and other colleges you are way off base. Our family continues to enjoy good local college basketball. Go Bulls!!!!

Rothstein dropped us out of his rankings altogether. These pollsters are silly. I guess 15 point road wins are bad. It will be interesting to see where we land tomorrow. In theory, we should move up 2 spots, in front of ASU and Wisconsin, but with guys like this voting, I won't hold my breath.

UB has to just keep winning and can only control what they can control. It is great that we are in the discussion for rankings. The majority of these pollsters are not objective about any teams that are not the major conference teams. If we had them in a room and quizzed them about teams they could not give us intelligent rational answers. Go Bulls!!!!

The schools want to sell tickets and hope trying to force a rivalry will do it. They like the inexpensive travel since they are all low budget schools.

Dont confuse schools pushing the Big Four with the Big Four actually being something people care about.

Dont act like you’re not trying to make the Big Four mean something so you’ll get clicks.

The pnly people pushing the Big Four are those that want to get something out of it. It is a contrived and forced concept.  Fans don’t actually care about it.

You are wrong. Our family have been local basketball fans for the years and years. it is not a contrived concept. Yes the culture has changed drastically with TV and all the sports networks. We have been local supporters and it is a fun experience with these local rivalries especially when the teams are competitive and have good exciting players. The gyms at both Canisius and Niagara though small can be exciting places to see competitive basketball. With winning comes more exposure and excitement for the fans both the diehards and the casual fan. Looking for a great conference record and Go Bulls!!!!

UB was the first ranked opponent Canisius has had at Koessler. If it wasn’t their Super Bowl then it was pretty close to it. I have no issue with what either coach said.

Do agree. After the game it is just coach speak and of course you get different answers from winning and losing coaches. But I disagree with Reggie that it is not a big time game. It should be a local rivalry and for the coaches to not promote it is not good for continuing the interest by the passionate and the casual fans alike. Why would you not try and get your team up for a big time rivalry game?? All coaches have different coaching philosophies on how to get their team up for games. As far as Canisius without Reese having a season like last year and if he does not regain his shooting touch they are in deep trouble especiallly with no front line impact player. Go Bulls!!!!

    Q. Jackson has such a quick release.  It stands out when watching his film.  And, of course, he has great athleticism.  He would, seemingly, fit right into Oats' style.

    Being nationally ranked helps..😀

The last I seen was he committed to Florida Gulf Coast. Does anyone have more recent information?? Go Bulls!!!!

Jeez, you all must be very fun at parties.

Best season we have had so far. It is has been incredibly fun to watch and experience. Buzz is all over the nation. It is nice to see more UB gear being worn around. (Stores were having issues with inventory on campus from people buying a lot.)

Excited to see how this plays out and incredibly proud of this team so far. From how they conduct themselves and the selfless attitude.

Definitely seeing more UB gear everywherea and the store at Galleria had limited UB stock left. Also nice to be able too acknowledge UB fans when walking around town. Go Bulls!!!!

It's telling when the women's game to sweep the Big 4 is over at tip off.

Hope this Is the start for better shooting and especially starting the first quarter with energy and passion. Autumn Jones did not play at all. Is she injured or in the doghouse?? UB will need a total team effort against Ohio who is 10-0 and looks like they did a few years back. Go Bulls!!!!!

Why is everyone so quick to say that Tyree NEEDS to go to a bigger school. It could cost him. He is a good QB, especially in the MAC. But for him to go to a school in the SEC, that could be bad for him. I think he's too raw for a school of that magnitude.

Obviously he's doing what he thinks is best, but, is it really the best option? Draft scouts know who he is and if he stayed at UB and has a much better year his senior year, his draft stock is going to look really good. But if he goes to a big school, and does awful, he more than likely ruins his chances at a better contract and better position to go to a team that he'll compete as a backup or even a starter.

All I'm saying is, if Khalil Mack can do it, so can Tyree.

Do agree. Most of the draft experts say he is not close to being aa accomplished quarterback and he did himself no favors in how he played the last few games. So yes it depends on how honest he is being with his own ability. A lot will depend on the kind of coaching he gets. It really is a crapshoot if he goes to a team that has some offensive talent. Only time will tell. Go Bulls!!!!

Not necessarily gone.  According to Coach Leipold he is exploring his options and the two have spoken.

It looks like Jackson is a goner. I think the number of quarterbacks we have on the roster will be positive and should be interesting. The real issue is that Jackson and the entire offensive play calling was terrible in the last three games and also the Army game and the defensive game also was not good. Jackson was not accurate or had any touch on his passes as the year went on. He did not appear to be set in the pocket and did not seem to go thru his progressions. Some of that can beblamed on the coaches. I still think the jury is still out on Leipold’s Coaching philosophy of being too conservative and not playing to win and being afraid to lose. Hope they can find a consistent kicker. Hope for continued success and Go Bulls!!!!

"The Bulls are No. 8 on my ballot. Their resume and game warrants it. This is a better roster than most of the top 25. Stop looking at the name on the front of their jersey."

    Love this guy so much...

Agree this guy makes a lot of sense. But unfortunately the people who make these polls are so biased toward the power conferences that they really don’t want to give the time of the day to the high mid majors. That is why unless something changes drastically either by peer pressure from people that favor teams from other conferences other than the power conferences nothing will change. It is still fun and exciting to see us being talked about by the major midia. The only way to keep in the mix is to “just win baby win”. Go Bulls!!!!!

We should all be upset if UB goes 28-3, loses to Toledo in OT in the championship and doesn't get an at-large but both WVU and Syracuse do (and you know they will).

It is great to have all this speculation about what will happen. Hope we can take one game at a time and continue to enjoy each game on its own merits. I have to admit it is great to have all these grand opinions on what the results will be. Again just a great time to be a supporter of UB basketball. Go Bulls!!!!

Dillard played 19 minutes total and scored 26 points

Bonaventure played 0 minutes total and managed to score 43 points

Real talk I don't think I've ever seen as many air balls as bona threw tonight.  Not even good shots, just something to say they put one up in the air.  At times we would leave their players wide open for a three and they wouldn't even attempt it, electing to move up for the mid range jumper or pass it.

Bona also dressed 10 players, 12 total on the team (scholarship limit for WBB is 15).  With all due respect to the 4 cut sports, I am glad that we put some form of resources towards more than one sport here.

A good bounce back game for UB although it was against a bad Bona team who has shot poorly all year. Dillard steady as usual, Hanna Hall seems to be getting more comfortable and showing more confidence, Hemphill showing more flashes of her ability and athleticism, Onwuka needs to be more in the offensive flow, Wilkins still a long way to being able to help on both ends of the floor, good to see Finess Dickson get point guard playing time but not sure she is going to contribute this year. The one player that I think needs to get more playing time is Adebola Adeyeye the 6’3’ center who played in Hemphill’s absence. She is a good defensive and rebounding player but has a long way to go on the offensive end. Looking forward to the Ohio game in January. Go Bulls!!!!

Nice recap.  With UB's success this year (both men's and women's + football) I haven't paid too much attention to the rest of the Big 4 this year.  Pretty disappointing to see the other schools struggle this season after such good records last year.

If UB stays in the top 25 multiple years, we can build a good college basketball culture in Buffalo.  But this is unrealistic - the rest of the Big 4 needs to be at least around the NIT level.  There's no reason why any Big 4 team should not sell out most home games given the population of the Buffalo metro area and talent of UB/SBU.

Also agree. The rest of the Big 4 are on a downward slide. The Canisius, Niagara and Bona women are really bad with no big time players or impact players. The men’s teams also show what happens when they lose their big time players and can’t hit on enough impact players to have continued success. UB next year will be very interesting when they lose their big time impact players. Are the players Nate has coming in going to be able to continue the success??Nate’s track record shows that it will hopefully continue. Go Bulls!!!!

Agreed UB85. I thought the exact same thing and planned on posting that today, but you beat me to it (great minds think alike). Some people on here are just beyond silly when they choose to kick this basketball team after yesterday's game. They've played a very challenging schedule, many of those games being on the road, including a lengthy trip overseas. Sadly, many don't understand what it's like to compete at this level and live in some fantasy land where every game the other team is just out there to let us win. The other teams are trying to win too! The other teams are good too, even those who some people put down as "automatic wins". Teams don't go undefeated ever for a reason...it's nearly impossible to do! You could take the best 5 players in the NCAA, put them on the same team for a 35 game season, and they would be extremely hard pressed to win every single game. It's physically and mentally draining to play multiple games per week, including travel. Let's not forget, these guys aren't pros, they're in school also and have that, along with family, friends, etc.

This team is great. Enjoy it.

Enjoy the players. There are 5 seniors who all are outstanding UB basketball players.

Enjoy the coaches, they are completely top notch and we are very fortunate to have them here.

Enjoy the ride! This team is the best we've ever had here. Relish every opportunity to watch them compete (and they compete DARN hard every possession).

Looking forward to blowing out our old coach (no ill will towards him ever, but definitely looking forward to the 25 point drubbing that his squad is going to get laid on them in their house) next weekend. Go Bulls!

Agree 100%. We have been enjoying he ride for years especially when both the men and women won the MAC in Cleveland!! Our family was there and celebrated on the floor with players and fans. As far as Canisius hope to see Perkins do some damage against their front line. Go Bulls!!!!

We all would assume that Syracuse and West Virginia were good.

It changes things when Syracuse and West Virginia are not good and San Francisco is the big win on the team’s resume.

Syracuse iss currently 10th in the ACC and would be third of forth in the MAC. Hard to convince people that’s a good win after Old Dominion beat them at the Dome too.

WVU has losses to Western Kentucky and Rhode Island among others.  They will likely get ten more losses in Conference.

These aren’t wins to hang your hat on.

Wow!! Any win is a good win and winning breeds confidence and creates excitement for us fans. What will you say if Syracuse and WV turn their seasons around and are in the mix in their conferences. I would rather be talking about our success and wins than losing. I agree we need to really enjoy this ride and support our teams in every way possible. Go Bulls!!!!!

Yes, Howard was a magician. But I can’t get past the fact that we did not sign another big, physical player to spell Perkins when his game is off. Bertram is not, and looks to never be, that guy.

I think Nate and Bryan tried to get some more front line help for Perkins but it just did not work out. Next year they have a couple JUCO’s in Rojas and Allen to name two that should help our front court. Go Bulls!!!!

A decent amount of that was schools that brought their kids to the game (Stanford's coach's alma mater seems to have brought the entire school).  However I'm not discounting the public turnout.  I think that was the first time I saw people in the 300's for a women's game.  We also got the last of the shirt giveaways 20+ minutes before tip.

FLJ is building a heck of a WBB culture here in Buffalo.  I'm excited to see it grow.

I agree that Coach Jack is trying to build positive vibes with this team which kid totally different than the last four years. But she will need to hit on some big time prospects for this momentum to keep going. Winning breeds excitement and confidence. This team is hurting for consistent players who can score other than Dillard. Wilkins and Jones were never full time starters and shooters. After Dillard leaves there are no players close to replacing her. Hanna Hall does not show the consistency to become the point guard even remotely close to  Reid from last year. No other point guard is even playing in games. After Hemphill and Morrison there is no strong front court player with any strength and scoring ability. UB being picked to win the MAC east was based on what they have done the last few years. The one positive is UB continues to play with defensive tenacity so that should keep them in some MAC games. Dillard has not been shooting well the last few games because she has no other player to take some of the pressure off of her. Keeping the faith and hoping the coaching staff come up with some other offensive strategies with the team they have. Go Bulls!!!!

  18. An exciting game against a very very good Stanford team but a loss  nevertheless.  The positives: UB played a great game on the defensive side with relentless defense causing 19 turnovers and held their own on the rebounding side even though Stanford’s frontline was 6’3, 6’3 and 6’4. A nice crowd of 3400 that was into the game. The minuses: Shooting woes continue shooting 27% from the field, 20% from the 3 point line and 64% from the free throw line. With no other big scorer other than Dillard it will be tough to beat any team even in the MAC. Dillard needs to play the entire game and only shor 2-10 from the 3 point line and did seem to run out of gas in the last 5 minutes of the game. Other than than Hemphill and Morrison there are no other players on the front court. Wilkins a woeful 1-8 and 1-6 from 3 point line. Other than Alanna Smith with 30 points and the inside presence of Nadia Fingall the rest of the Stanford players were kept in check. But a loss is a loss and unless UB starts to hit more shots it is going to be a tough season. Keeping the faith Kane continue to support the team. Go Bulls!!!!

  19. A good road win against a not so good Dartmouth team. Glad to see Hemphill back and having a very good game with 24 points and a key 14 rebounds. Wilkins back also but a disappointing 1-10 from field and 0-8 from 3 point line. Still not shooting the 3 ball good 3-20 at 15%and 62% from the free throw line. Another solid outing from Onwuka with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Dillard again over 20 points. No good point guard play again. Where would we be without Dillard??? I think we would be like Canisius and Niagara!!! Will be interesting to see how they compete against some of the better MAC teams. Looking forward to seeing Stanford on Friday at noon and how Dillard and Hemphill measure up against Stanford. Keeping the faith on better play when MAC play begins. Go Bulls!!!!

IIRC we’ve only worn the black away jerseys. I happen to really like them but do we not have a blue jersey?? At this point at 11-0 idk if we should change anything if we’re feeling superstitious but I really love an all blue..

Our whole family really likes the blue jerseys but we are thinking about buying some black ones too. There were many blue jerseys at the Syracuse game which was a sight to behold. Hope to see a lot of blue at the Canisius game. Go Bulls!!!!

One thing Oats has praised them both on is I guess they are both huge gym rats and are always in the gym. Williams and Segu are both so raw but have a ton of athletic ability that the sky is the limit for them. I have a feeling over time, they could be real special players.

I think we can give both Segu and Williams some time. They do seem to have the right work ethic. We seen them both after the SIU game shooting. Some players take a little longer to get acclimated to D1 play. Go Bulls!!!!

saw this article on Winthrop scheduling and thought people would like it.

The reason midmajors wont play each other and play nonD1 games is because they like to offset a paycheck game at a major program with a cheap win at home.

Get a six figure check for a major game and then pay a non-D1 team $2k to come in for a win.

Not worth it to fly to another midmajor game as it is expensive and you lose s home game.

Just a great and very informative article about Winthrop and the problems all mid majors have had in scheduling games. The worst part is what the NCAA has done in a round about way is make it harder for mid majors to schedule games. The power 5/7 conferences and the NCAA big wigs have only their millions of dollars in mind and really could care less about the mid majors. All college basketball fans need to know the truth about what the NCAA power brokers are doing. The worst part of this whole mess is the majority of the media know what is going on and care less because that is where the bread is buttered. I will continue to support our mid majors and UB. Go Bulls!!!!

Even with Jeremy struggling shooting the ball, he contributes in so many other ways like defense, rebounding, assists, moving the ball on offense.

Even with his offensive struggles, we are fine.

I don't get why people are saying the team isn't finding their stride on offense when the stats say otherwise.

Stats are great to look at after a game or two but what really counts is “10-0”. What most of fans see is what is right in front of them. With Harris’s successful season last year and some of his struggles this year it stands out. Do agree our overall team chemistry is very good and  and with our maturity we will be fine. Any clue of how many are going to the Syracuse game?? I see it is on ESPN2!! Go Bulls!!!!
