Schmidt has been a godsend for Bona. He brought them out of the depths or corruption, restored the pride in Bona basketball, has developed great big men and has made Bona a good team year in and year out.

I agree that Schmidt has been a godsend for Bona. He seems to always find good players and has been able to develop some players into very good players. I believe Nate is following the same script along with his coaching staff. When talking about the old AUD and the doubleheader’s boy does that being back memories back when we did not have social media etc. Bona, the Griffs and Niagara and now UB can write their own story and can become the talk of WNY. Hoping more pure basketball fans join us for the ride. Go Bulls!!!!

I definitely recommend this and is what I do when I get back to UB for games. Park at Furnas lot, grab food in the Union or the Commons on your walk over. Much easier leaving at the end of games and can quickly hop on the 990 to head back to Rochester.

Happy to see some are giving other alternatives to parking and I agree the concessions have to be improved.  Long lines and prices. I am hoping someone on the UB staff see they have to make changes. The basketball side has improved now it is time for the concessions and parking to change. Go Bulls!!!!

Williams and Reese aren't even on the same level as hype. Reese came in as an athletic guard who had a bunch of neat highlights on Twitter and YouTube, but obviously fell behind a deep squad of guards, which btw, he's  tearing it up in JC now.

Williams has already shown some good flashes and is definitely miles ahead of Reese at this point in 8 games, some guys just take more time to transition to college, that doesn't mean he won't be good.

For people to worry about a freshman not playing as expected through the first 8 games of his college career is absurd. He is going to develop and he is going to be a good player. Same thing here applies to Segu.

Not trying to put a big downer on his potential. Hope that he lives up to his hype. Following basketball for many years I have seen many players that were highly touted that never made it at the next level. On the other side is players that come in that are not on anyone’s radar by the experts who think they know everything that turn into good D1 players. Again I have not lost faith in any player and believe this coaching staff can succeed in developing these players. Looking forward to Sat’s game and another win. Go Bulls!!!!

Great observations as always. Bulls looked disinterested in playing in the first half. Frowns on their faces coming out of the locker room to start the second half suggests they got blistered by the coach. Postgame interview revealed that the team was going to focus on allowing LeMoyne to score "one point a minute". Bulls certainly came through on that. I concur on the CJ comment - I barely noticed him one the court, yet he had a triple double. Conversely, it was difficult to miss how completely ineffective Bertram is anywhere on the court. The it was announced that Bertram was headed to UB, I watched some film of him online. My reaction then was "meh" and, sadly, it still is - slow footwork and slow to react. Fortunately, the rest of the bench is looking a bit deeper with each game. LeMoyne came in with attitude and more size that I expected. Obviously every team this season will have their date with ranked UB circled, with exclamation points, on their calendar.

Agree great analysis. Not surprised it took a half for the team to get going after the Belfast trip. The report on LeMoyne was they could shoot and they did that in the first half. The key was UB played with great defensive intensity in the 2nd half. LeMoyne’s #13Zay Jennings lit us up from the 3’s in the first half. Dontay was put on him in the 2nd half and he barely had any room to breathe. The rest of the team followed his lead. So much for CJ not playing to rest his knee sprain!! A little concerned about Williams with really no improvement seen in his overall play. Have to believe in the coaches that they will coach him up and he will become the player he has been touted to be. Go Bulls!!!!

It would be fool hardy to take any team lightly as the first half of the lemoyne game showed. Bona is a much better team with Stockard. Combine that with the reilly center, the natural desire to take it to a highly regarded opponent and an improved Bona team the game has danger written all over it. Having played the game I know how important the mental part of the game is. I do believe our guys will be ready to go. Will have to play with top level defensive intensity, limit turnovers and rebound. If we do we should be good.

I do agree. I think Nate has the players in the right mental state on all fronts. Do agree Bona is playing better with Stockard back and with some of their new players learning how to play together. As long as we put in a solid 40 minutes we should win. The big thing is to limit how the Bona fans and the students get into the game. Go Bulls!!!!

Johnson will start. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about him. When Hodgson was interviewed last week he more or less said Johnson was the Massinburg replacement and Cadwell was the Harris replacement. I think the stretch 4 position will be a tough battle between Jackson and Cadwell.

Hope these JUCO players are as good as advertised. It looks like Williams has a long  way to go and is not showing any improvement in his shooting ability. Segu looks like he is progressing better. Only hope Williams does not turn out like Reese did. Reese came in highly touted and never improved at all. Go Bulls!!!!

Yea last night really hurt and still stings pretty bad. Going to take a little bit to get over it. It’s easy to be cynical about the team because of it. But not caring about a bowl game is ridiculous.

Did we all think this was the year we would win the MAC? Absolutely. But we’ve still never won a bowl game in program history. That’s a major milestone that UB has to get over ASAP. If we want to take this program to the next level that’s soooo important. With the best record in UB History and their first ever bowl game victory I think the Macc will sting a lot less. Still lots to play for and still a season to be proud of.

We lost the games that really mattered but when was the last time we said UB even took care of all the games they should have won in the regular season?

We NEED to continue success into next year. The fieldhouse will be built and it should help recruiting but we all want consistent winning. I would say next year is almost more important. To have another winning bowl season would be huge for this program.

Tough tough tough to lose that game how it went last night...but lots to look forward to. First things first, let’s beat the hell outta whoever we play in a bowl game and end this year on a high note. 11-3 sounds pretty good to me

Yes a tough, tough loss. I agree it has been a record setting year in many aspects. Even with a winning team there should be accountability. In many games this year after UB has taken a big lead in the first half the team has gone into both offensive and defensive shells. They stopped trying to push the ball down the field and they became very conservative across the board. That is on the coaches. If they play anywhere close to that against Troy they will get blown out like the Ohio game and like the second half against N. Illinois. Hope for a good bowl game to end the season on a positive note. Go Bulls!!!!

  8. Congrats to the women for another win. Albeit a very uneven game. Except for Dillard, Morrison and Onwuka not sure how they will compete against the better quality teams in the upcoming games and once they get into the MAC.  A long way to go as far as point guard play and 3 point shooting. Still troublesome with Jones and Hamilton on 3 point shooting. Does anyone have any information on the Wilkins injury a few games ago? Hope Hemphill is still coming back in mid December. Will be going to the Canisius game tomorrow night. Hope to see  some support for our team at Canisius. Go Bulls!!!!!

  9. Congrats to the team for two good wins against two decent teams. How are they doing it!!! One word - Dillard!!! They are getting out rebounded in almost every game and not shooting very consistent except for Dillard. One positive is over 79% from the free throw line. Both Wilkins and one of the Dickson point guards are injured I believe. Without Hemphill until end of December the only positive is that some of the younger players are getting some game experience. Both senior Autumn Jones and Marissa Hamilton are still struggling big time shooting 21% from the field and 15% from the three point line for Jones and 15% from the field and 9% from the three point line for Hamilton.. Do not understand why these players should be allowed to take the number of shot they are taking. Do agree with coach Jack that more fans should come out to see Dillard play. She is an unbelievable player and this is her last year. Keeping the faith that improvement will come with the rest of the team. Go Bulls!!!!

Thanks Joseph and BullBoy I do agree. No matter who they are playing our family will be there. This is an exciting time for UB sports and we should appreciate these players who be gone next year. Already getting our group together for our March Cleveland trip. Go Bulls!!!!

Lemoyne is a better than a lot of bottom D1 teams.  Massey ratings has them ranked higher than the likes of Norfolk State, Monmouth, and Binghamton.

Would we expect people not to show up for those teams?  Either people are going to just show up because Buffalo is ranked and winning, or we need to start scheduling home games that matter.

This will be the test.  If winning alone will draw fans then expect a sell out.

Lemoyne being a D11 team not even sure it counts in the standings?? There was an excellent piece in the early part of the season about teams like UB when they become successful having a hard time scheduling home games against better D1 teams. They talked to many coaches including Nate about scheduling teams and the reasons behind it. Wonder if anyone can come up with the article. You would think with all the  conferences thru out the country UB should be able to find competitive teams. At any rate here’s  hoping because of UB’s success more people show up to see this team in spite of who they are playing. Go Bulls!!!!

No coincidence you showed after Bonas won one, finally. Good to see Stockard back. He is a helluva player and as Bonas' awful play before last night shows he is an irreplaceable part of the team. Nothing worse than losing games your senior year because of injury. I checked the Griffs' score in the second half and it seemed as though they wouldn't get out the 30s. Are the Griffs that bad or did they just have an off night?

The Griffs lost Crumpton and Planincic their two big men and rebounders and they have no front court strength at all in both rebounding and scoring. Reese is having a very bad year as for as scoring. So if Molson and Reese are not scoring they are in big trouble..

Also two things pointed out to me by my wife concerning CJ during the Marist game.

    1. After a whistle he grabbed the broom and swept up the lane.

    2. At half time, when the teams came out to warm-up, he noticed that the ball rack wasn't out there so he went and got it. Removed two balls and rolled them to Marist and then two more to his teammates.

    He does it all!

Do agree. Our family has had a chance to meet and talk to CJ  and he is a very polite kid.  He does have a down to earth demeanor and does not come across as being full of himself. Just a joy to watch him play and see this team compete. Go Bulls!!!!

  14. Another very good win!! Looking forward to seeing the replay tomorrow. Another strong shooting game - 50% from the field, 42% from 3 point line and 75% from the free throw line. 43 rebounds and 20 assists which means they are not being selfish with the ball. Good to see Harris had a better shooting game with 21 points. Good to see Williams, Segu and Fagan are getting minutes which can help once we get into conference play. Hope Cj’s knee is okay. Heard he tweeked  it during th game. Go Bulls!!!!

  15. Do agree 100%. She is the real deal. I hope more fans come to see this team and can only hope more UB True Blue and other students come out for their games. It is still very disappointing to see very few students for the games. In fact there are very few comments on UB fan.com. This team the last few years has been a very successful and exciting team. Hope to see more interest in the upcoming games. Go Bulls!!!!

  16. Have to agree UB85 about Nate Oats.As they continue to win I am sure there will be more interviews both locally and nationally which in turn will have more WNY folks seeing what a great down to earth guy he is. Our family first met him at the kids camps UB holds. He gave us the time and talked to us like he was really interested in what our opinions were. I hope he will be here for many years. Go Bulls!!!!

  18. A nice crowd for the first game despite UB football being on ESPN2. A very uneven game against a very mediocre Niagara team. Without Dillard who knows what the outcome could of been. Dillard only scored eight points in the first half and only up by six points. Hanna Hall showed more smarts but theDicksons players looked lost. With Hemphill out until  mid December there is no defensive, rebounding presence. It is going to be very interesting to see how these players can mesh together especially when they play against better competition.  Keeping the positive vibes. Go Bulls!!!!

Announced attendance at 4,500+. That’s pretty darn good without students on campus and playing a middling MAAC team. The community is starting to buy in. Good to see.

Agree it does seem like the community is starting to buy in. It is amazing what a top 25 ranking can do when the talk heats up from the local and national media. They are beating good teams and not letting up against weaker teams which is a sign of a team buying in and listening to the coaches. The one concern is the struggles of Harris and the uneven play of Williams who was highly touted. I guess we have to give both players some time to adjust their games. What did the training staff do with CJ?? Supposedly he had a Grade 1 knee sprain!! At any rate our good fortune that he was able to play. Hope to have success in Belfast with some more team bonding. Go Bulls!!!!

  20. Also to all my bulls’fans Friends. Thankful to all the wonderful people on UB fan.com. Although we might disagree, the passion and interest we continue to show for our UB sports teams has been a breath of fresh air.Our family have been college sports fans and alumni for 30-40 years and have experienced the ups and downs. We are truly on a high with success and increased attention. Let’s keep it going and even though I might not of met all you fans in person I know who you are. Go Bulls!!!!

  21. A good win without Cj and Harris only scoring 11 points. Hope he get his act together starting against Marist. Good to see playing time for Segu, Williams and Fagan. I am out of town and did not see the game so was CJ on the bench and how did he look? Was he hobbling around or is it minor I hope?? Go Bulls!!!!

Are you referring to the ability of Reid and Oursler at their position or overall? This program has never had a player with the pure scoring ability and variety of ways to score as Dillard.

I am referring to the positions that Reid and Oursler play. Did not mean to not mention Dillard. She has been everything and more than we could have imagined. Without Dillard not sure where any of the scoring would come from. Another player that we should enjoy seeing every chance we get. Agree with your assessment of Dillard wholeheartedly. Go Bulls!!!!!
