Should help the D, will need to win back the locker room. I’m guessing more than a few teammates didn’t love him quitting on them

If they liked him before, they don't care. It's not like he went to Akron or another Mac school

Most players would understand he was doing what he thought was best for his future

I saw a headline today that the NCAA might revenue share with athletes. Wonder how that would work and if that would “level the playing field”. Doubt it. I’ve said it and I agree with others, once funders realize they aren’t getting bang for their buck they will make deals multi year contracts.

Revenue sharing is coming if the NCAA wants to survive in my opinion

Other options are gonna start to pop up, a major advantage the NCAA has is that it's already set up and already has money/revenue

  3. This got me thinking is there rules about this

What is stopping a collective being a straight work around to paying athletes from the school?

True blue gives away a good amount of t shirts for free, I always just assumed that's what my student fee was for (half a joke)

Could the collective buy/make all the true blue shirt give aways, then sell them to true blue?

Even if you throw away the rest, James Graham played at the mid-major level last year (in his 4th college season) and was significantly worse than Williamson. You invoked the Sabol comparison: Sabol was worse, on a worse team, in a worse conference.

Halcovage hasn't won a recruiting battle to date and Williamson has shown more at the D1 level than anyone that Halcovage has (successfully) recruited to date.

What makes you say halcovage hasn't won a recruiting battle?

I can't find Akron's or Miami's #. Toledo and Western Michigan was near a million.

Do you links for the Toledo number?

Night one of the NFL draft when their corner back was drafted in the first, they mentioned how he had offers to leave Toledo for major money but stayed at Toledo for nothing because he thought it was best for his development

  6. Thought he was starting to turn it around near the end of the season. Had an absolutely brutal start to the season though

Opens up a scholarship, go get a scorer and you'll likely have improved

Not a fan of running only two pg's one being a transfer from Usport and the other a freshman though

Staff is going after what they can get with the hand they have. There is currently no compelling reason to come to UB for basketball. At least Buffalo is close to Canada for some of these guys so you take what you can get and hope their game translates to winning in the MAC.

I think you are under estimating some of the Canadians and freshman UB has coming in

I don't think it's taking what UB can get

I would bet that a few of them had other opportunities as well that just weren't publicized

I like your optimism and tend to agree with your assessment. A go-to scorer that is ready to go and will make those around him better. We will see if we can get a piece like that.

A player that allows the staff to move one of sabol or boldin to the bench and let's all the freshman and sophomores to develop more naturally

Although if the staff feels confident one of the sophomores or freshmen are ready to really take on more responsibility then a PG that you can red shirt wouldn't be a bad idea

I may be misguided - if we are going for Villanova model (48% of FGA from 3), then I think you go for someone with size who can shoot the 3.  Too bad we didn't have some NIL bucks to get Skogman back here!  Add that to Sabol, Boldin and Batchelor, and my vote for most improved Wilson and I think offensively this team will be improved.

The concern I have is they have to improve defensively as well.

That kind of player would be a solid pick up as well

Might be nice to add a freshman point guard as well

They have a lot of possibilities with the last scholarship

I'm more worried about offense just because it's tougher to be good on offense than it is to be good defensively

Defensively you will be fine as long as you put in the effort (and have some semblance of size)

I am pretty sure that as a Canadian he cannot get NIL money.  All foreign students, except possibly Canadians, cannot get NIL money because it is work.  They are only allowed in the country as students.

I'm unfamiliar with visas but aren't there other kinds of visas they could apply for?

What about being able to cross the boarder back into Canada so they could "work" - do you think this could be a loop hole around not having a work visa

I know Zach edey was able to get nil money when Purdue played in early season tournament not in the US two seasons ago

  11. Losing a coach to an A10 school would suck

I saw an interview with Josh schertz and he spoke about how all of the Indiana St fans wanted him fired after the first season

So I looked a bit into his first season Indiana St dropped from a team ranked near 100 to a team ranked 230 in his first season

Didn't drop as far as GH3 and he also recruited really well but some similarities are there

I didnt fully explain.  The list of players are somewhat in line with the player who heard from UB, Ndur, and the kind of player I am thinking they would like to get.  Especially the ones who have shot the 3 with a little success. It does seem like with Ndur they were somewhat in line with replacing Jo's production.

Sorry the chart was not too easy to make out.

Having posted that list, I can almost guarantee who they pick up won't be on it.  I was kind of interested in Batchelor's teammate, especially since I saw him working the 3s into his routine.

Yeah I'm guessing the players that fill out the last two scholarships will be off the radar signings as nearly every other one has been

Wouldn't be opposed to going the Usport route again for a grad big if any are actually interested in playing in the states. I this is a really creative way to get older players without much NIL (also not sure if the actual skill level of Usport, but if you're 23 playing against 18 year olds you will probably be okay either way)

What the 2 time MAC Coach of the year had to say about Adams:

"'I have a tremendous amount of respect for Isaiah's talent level and competitiveness after seeing him play against us for the last two years in conference play,' Kowalczyk said. 'I told our players in our scouting reports that he was a first-team All-MAC caliber player. Isaiah is an extremely versatile player on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. He can guard all five positions, score in the low post and knock down shots from the perimeter.'"

What ubfan.com had to say about Adams:

"I'd like him a lot more if he was an international freshman with no other D1 offers."

That last line made me laugh more than it should have
