Per Barttorvik.com here is what I see in terms of SR PF/C available similar to Malachi Ndur who UB has contacted.

    image.thumb.png.8f54d3ff07227dba24023d300dfd3cc0.png

You can see that Malachi Ndur stats are similar to Smith's although he played fewer minutes.  Here is a chart of all available PF/C by PRPG! and prior team rank:

    image.png.f813970246ff3d4382d49773cf3d2cce.png

The 'purple' dot is Ndur and 'aqua' dots are seniors.  This I hope gives some perspective as to level we are targeting vs what is available.

So roughly similar target as jo smith, interesting

I've never been a big graph guy ha just the basic chart of numbers I can see (I can't see the chart to shared that well but appreciate it greatly)

With the last two scholarships I'd love to see at least one upper class big, and the more I think about it an upper class guard

Wouldn't mind having the ability to slot sabol/boldin/Wilson/McVeigh into a more proper position on the team and let them develop more naturally

I would be on board with that. a redshirt PG would be nice for down the road.

Yeah would be nice to keep a couple rostered for the following season

UB does have a PG already commit for 2025 though

  3. One of the things I wanted to see when GH3 was hired was to build up a Canadian pipe line

Hoping it's just the beginning of bringing in some of the better talent Canada has to offer

Reading about NIL in regards to non us citizens, a school like buffalo who is on the boarder will have the opportunity to get foreign players NIL easier than some other schools. (Apparently there is a loop hole on if it takes place on us soil or not. At least in regards to Zach Eady, who did all his NIL work while the team was in one of the early season tournaments)

    Leading scorer was a Senior.

    2nd leading scorer - De’Shayne Montgomery, 6’4” freshman guard, 13.2 ppg and 41.2% from 3.

best rebounder was 4.5 RPG and several guys around 4rpg.

Their best player is actually getting looks from power five schools, believe it's the leading scorer who is in the portal as a grad transfer

Anyone care to chime in on what brand of basketball we will be playing next year? The net loss on paper is significant and we were already horrendous.

    Winning basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Chatman and Adams had A LOT on their plates

I think a lot of their issues this season was because they had to do nearly everything. Take some off their plate and think they would have been good. They just needed help

Really the issue I think fans are saying when they say the team will be better without them is, UB will now have a team all playing the same style/same mind set. Last season you had guys trying to play play a more pro style and some playing a more college style

Lots of off season to go but as it currently stands my opinion is that we are looking at another three win team

Get another point guard and my thoughts will change but until we have more than one point guard UB is in for another long year in my opinion

Hurley is 51 years old. The farthest he’s been from Jersey City is where he is now. He’s not going anywhere. Oates just assured Bama that he’s staying put. Billy Donovan?

Billy Donavon has to be the top choice if they can't get Hurley but how long would they wait for Donavon? NBA season goes a bit longer and the bulls should be in the play in game

Looks like Hurley is Kentucky’s plan A. Not sure what his buyout is, but it’s likely significant. Oats could be plan B

Danny Hurley seems like a perfect fit at UConn, doesn't come across like a Kentucky coach in my opinion

Oates on the other hand to me screams Kentucky

  9. Interesting wording on that post "wny native Bryan hodgson"

Did a local school beat Arkansas st out for a recruit recently? Or is there a bigger prospect they want or are looking at in the coming year and want their name around with the connection?

Probably nothing but just wording but found it interesting

How do you figure that Lance Leipold’s wife was from the Midwest and wanted to get back closer to home.

Nate Oats didn’t get $7 million a year his first season with Alabama. Second if UB wants to be a big boy school they need a heck of a lot more money than what UB currently offers coaches. UB football got lucky Pete Lembo took $720,000 a season he showed mercy on UB. Pete Lembo with his coaching experience is worth $1 million plus. UB doesn’t understand value they overpay fools like Mark Altnutt, Maurice Linquist and George Halcovage III. Then when they have someone they blink and basically sell the coach. That is telling like it is about UB athletics.

St Bonaventure Bonnies Mark Schmidt isn’t going anywhere at $1.8 million a season. Keep telling yourself that UB is on the right path low balling head coaches? For a state flagship school UB is very cheap when UB can’t afford a real basketball coach. I think UB basketball is losing 20 plus games again with George Halcovage III next season regardless who he brings in because he can’t coach. Again I hope I am wrong in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

It's actually mind boggling to me that mid major schools when they find a top coach at the mid major level they don't shell the money to keep them

The money is usually not that crazy in basketball and the way teams get rewarded with money/units from making a tournament appearance the contract will pay for itself

Hearing some rumors Toledo is chasing Adams and offering him a bag. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

He would fit in well there

Hope he doesn't go there though because I want to actually have another interested/rootable team next year to go along with UB

Yeah we'll see who needs a slow 6'6 PF whose only production came when the roster got thin enough that literally anyone had to take the shots and get the rebounds. Sorry for the snark, I just never thought he was up for this level of play.

Thus marks the end of Whitesell's players on the roster. Five of seven of GH3's initial class remain, with five newcomers incoming. Three spots are currently open. If we can find veterans at the spots we all see as needing help, I'll be pretty interested in the upcoming season.

I liked him at the end of the season when they used him in post up spots and some pick n rolls

If they find 3 quality pieces to fill out the roster, the team will definitely be very intriguing

    What’s the path forward?

It's sad but time. The staff had to rebuild an entire roster from top to bottom and without nil doing that in one off season is near impossible

I see a team that can last being built rather than a group of guys at a gym playing pick up coming together. Which is what we saw ever since oats left

Realistically the first recruiting class GH3 had provided a base - very useful players on a good Mac team but not likely the main pieces. High floor low ceiling type of players. His second class on paper looks to be higher potential a lot more size length and athleticism again continuing the build a base of a team. Hopefully hit on a main piece

His third class will be very telling because that's when you absolutely have to bring in legit talent to supplement the base or to put your team over the top

Canisius board has a post with "word on campus" is Tahj Staveskie and Xzavier Long "both looking to follow Cage to UB". I always liked Tahj's game and he could/would really push Fulcher for the PG spot we need. Long rebounds well and could/would be a nice replacement for Graham, though unsure if he would just overlap with Batchelor.

Interesting, would be solid pick ups

Staveskie was preseason all MAAC not sure what happened this season, although canisius seemed like as much of a disaster season as UB did. Think I saw they finished with only 7 scholarship players
