Jay Wright's had 12 assistants go on to become D1 head coaches. The most successful of the bunch is probably Pat Chambers whose resume is highlighted by 9 years at Penn State before getting fired with 0 tournament appearances. I think being from the Jay Wright coaching tree means very little at this point

So you're telling me statistically Jay wrights assistants are due to win a tournament game

    Lol 😂😂😂

I have some bad news for you if this is what you want...

If they are gonna go hard into NIL, I'm for it 100%

Just think with how precious the resources UB always seems to have it might be better suited to look forward to the next thing coming

    Hopefully they do both!

  3. Hot take: UB shouldn't try to overly catch up in regards to NIL (need to get something going though) because NIL and mid major basketball is more like a bubble that will fizzle out

They NEED to be ready for profit sharing and the potential to have student athletes as "employees". They should throw more resources into this to be able to hit the ground running. Which in my opinion will be a much bigger advantage than NIL is and ever will be

Sad but true. Almost spot on IMO.

GHIII went from Bapson College as a player $$$$$ to Nova’s staff $$$$$$$. No doubt he’s faced some adversity like anyone, but he’s had a silver spoon. Time to determine if we have a dog. The entire deck is stacked against him now.

Transfer portal makes it way easier to build than years b4, but NIL is certainly a barrier right now. It’s going to be a very interesting off season.

I like this post, it's a fair critique and good questions to bring up.

GH3 show UB you can put your nose to the ground and work

I always tend to be a bit more optimistic on things....his time at UB has shown me he is willing to put the work in, just got to see the results

Hot take: He could have taken an easy way out moving on from the entire previous roster. We one hundred percent would have been worse but we would have seen the "improvements" a lot earlier (organization/teamwork/ball movement/communication)

My dark horse is BGSU, but at some point Toledo does have to break through.  Just looked at one predicted bracket and they had Toledo as a 15 seed.

What a down year, a 15 seed! The Mac had been trending up for a while now too

My prediction is Ohio wins, they seem to be peaking at the right time, but it is hard going against Akron's senior laden team.

    That's my thoughts as well

But could be a year a team no one expects like central Michigan or Toledo

Toledo won tonight and Akron lost so Toledo takes the 1 seed.  Will this be the Rockets’ year to represent the MAC at the Big Dance?  I’m betting on no. Akron still feels like the favorite.

Kent could be dangerous as the 8 seed, though they lost handily to Toledo tonight.

Not sure how much more MBB MACtion I can take this season.  But I’ll be rooting for BB and her Bulls to make some noise on the WBB side. 🤘

The Mac is usually one of the better conference tournaments, but this year every team seems like trash

Beyond zero chance Jo comes back

Bigs get paid in the portal, jo smith about to get paid

I believe I read or heard his family is at every home game because they are just across the boarder but I could be thinking of someone else. Could keep him here. He also generally looks happy to be here

Curious what makes you think this. The next two months are going to be incredibly active for transfers. And we have two HS commits that seems as good as what JW was signing.

I don't want to get ahead of myself on the negativity before anything actually happens. The coming off-season does not have to follow the course of this season. The staff certainly knows it will be in trouble if it does, so I expect quite an effort here.

I think there will be a ton activity fairly quickly too once the season ends

I am in agreement with the one announcer, Buffalo is almost good enough to be an ok team. We do some good things but then it goes to crap, missed dunk, missed wide open 3, bad turnover. Etc. It feels like we are better but can’t string together enough good.

Having a second PG especially one that had previous d1 experience would have made a major impact

Not a coincidence that once fulcher really settled in that UB started to look more organized and like an actual D1 team ha

This actually made me LOL. You are out of your mind. So what's your line for the WMU team (#301) we just lost to by 19 against November UB? 50? Too bad we didn't make all this improvement earlier or we'd be contending for a final four!! JMU only beat us by 15, Bonaventure only beat us by 15, Butler only beat us by 13. This current UB team has to be a lock for at least a Sweet 16 then if we'd win by 30

I truly can't believe the flip this board has done where I was on the optimistic side of posters during the Whitesell years and now people are taking moral victories (that are based on??) from a string of double-digit losses to 3rd and 4th tier MAC teams

Did you just not read the second part of my message?

The part that it is concerning that a very average Kent team handled this UB team? Even with the improvement?

People that don't see improvement, I don't what to say

Is the improvement good enough likely not but it's still there

  12. The UB basketball team from say February 1st until today would beat the November team by 30+

And that's saying something considering UB was handled pretty easily last night against a very average Kent st team

the last month or so was the first time I saw actual improvement, the improvement is there

the question is in my opinion is it where it should be

  13. UMass joining has to be a good thing for UB right?

Either it signals an expanding MAC that includes more schools like UB or the top of the MAC or maybe it gives UB a partner to join another current conference more east coast based or one that doesn't even exist yet

Personally feel UB should be in a conference more east coast/atlantic based, heck even our recruiting seems to be headed that direction in recent years
