I’m curious, are these twitter reports?   Because I don’t see any (not one) P5 offer for anyone in this class.  In general I like the portal, but it’s wrecking havoc on my (already poor) ability to compare classes across the conference.

I follow a bunch of the UB recruiting pages who retweet recruiting news. It’s been a few of the 23 class and from the previous 22 class. Linguist stated that he had a couple guys get last minute offers from bigger schools. Also I tend to do some digging on recruits twitter pages just to see what they’re like as players

And some kids, not all, reward that effort. Many times you will lose to the P5 poachers (ala Rino to ND), but that kid had no offers as an undersized LS and then people look because Mo has a reputation as a good evaluator. Also, when many of these guys first hit 247 they had no stars, but almost every one ended up as a 3-star, so you are dead on that he sees things others don’t. I really hope it translates on the field because if it does, we could be a tough team to beat.

I’m confident in this season, Mo came in very late last year with players who were not his recruits and tried to implement a play style that didn’t fit the mold of some guys. From what I know from my insider on the team is that he is letting some guys know that they should either look elsewhere or will not see the field much. He’s adding players who fit his mold and somewhat pushing players out. Now he’s got his guys here and those who stayed either fit his build or have trust in his abilities. Sure there has been some questionable play calling at times but that happens with every coach in football, look at Daboll this season or fraziers decisions against the chiefs. I can admit that I was hard on him last season and I probably got a bit carried away. This season more than the last one should be the real evaluation period for Mo, not just for this fan page but for people like Allnut. A little off topic because it’s not football but look at whitesell, he’s been the head coach for a few seasons now and the majority of the team is his recruits. We can be more critical of him now because what we see on the court is a reflection of his implemented play calling and talent of players he brought in

  3. I’ve been critical of coach Mo but I can’t be mad at his recruiting efforts and efforts to make the team the way he wants it to be. It’s great to have the best recruiting class in the Mac, amazing accomplishment. But what I find most impressive is his ability to find recruits early. Many times I see reports of players getting their first d1 offer from UB then next week they get an ACC or SEC offer. It’s great that he can see the potential and talent of players before others

I was wondering if that was the case with the total number of entries. I’m curious about McDuffie. His choice or the staff? I would assume they want him back but maybe not. He’s the main one I’m interested in hearing about

From what I know he’s testing the waters to see what kind of interest he gets. Hopefully he doesn’t transfer out

  5. I have an insider on the team who told me that the coaching staff has openly told some players that they should look elsewhere. Some have left as grad transfers as well. I was also told that spring ball will be harder than ever before, coaching staff is hoping to weed out the weak players… expect more to look elsewhere after spring ball

It's the "look at me" times. Everyone loves to showcase themselves in any way possible. "Final 10", then "Final 5", committed,  re-opening commitment,  new final 5. Maybe 1% of these guys in the portal and many of the seniors/Jucos actually look at the schools. It's only aboit the sport, and if everything isn't perfect, they'll just leave the next year. If it's too perfect,  then they'll be "too good" for the school and leave as well. It's quickly becoming big news if a guy stays 4-5 years to completion. 5 years from now, those guys will be the unicorns if the current system still is the same.

Sometimes it could be other reasons, but you are spot on in many cases. Who knows what’s going on in Porters life outside of football, maybe something is going on at home and he decided not to transfer to a school far away. Or he could just be looking for a spot where he will be WR1, his decommit came right after Marshall’s commitment. Anyway the staff seems to be recruiting really well out of the portal, we’ll just have to see who’s here during spring ball

  7. As a student at UB I try to make every home game. On occasion the school tries to promote games, usually games against rivals or talented opponents. It’s still pretty disheartening to see the lack of student support recently, I think some students just don’t care because they’re not a top 25 team like a few seasons ago. Another reason for the lack of students at the moment is because it’s winter break. Hopefully when the spring semester starts we see a rise in overall student bodies at the games.

I don’t like Notre Dame, but I’m happy to take their players! I guess losing our recruiting coordinator didn’t hurt too bad.

Linguist has a ton of connections. I wonder who he’s going to replace Cauthen with. Excited to see this team build

I would like to see McDuffie pull out of the portal, but if not, we find the next Bull. Our WR and TE corp has dramatically improved as well. Plus Laborn and Gassett some nice PT this season, so they should be able to contribute more. Question will be QB. Is it Myers, Plummer and Snyder?

I’m guessing it’s going to be Snyder. He appears to be a better version of Myers, mobile and able to throw.

I’ll take the win, but gotta stop having these horrific shooting performances. Jeenathan 3-14 is just unnaceptable and not the first time for him. Good teams will not let us back so easily.

Bad shooting happens to every team from time to time. The problem is it seems like it happens to UB way too often. I’m not even sure if you can blame coaching on that, especially if they’re running plays and getting open shots. Have no clue why this happens so often with us

That is a fantastic yards per catch average.

Even if he only did half as well next year, I would take it.  😀

He had a decent season the year before. He’s insanely fast, possibly a “Wilson” prototype receiver. Nice deep threat
