  1. I think Mading could possibly get some minutes at the SF position. He’d be a mismatch due to his size and has the speed and athleticism to score the ball. From his HS videos it also seems that he has a pretty decent long range shot. Hopefully our younger core gets playing time against Daemon

  2. I don’t mind playing an exhibition game before heading to Michigan, let’s the team try plays out and also let’s some of the new guys get playing time. Even though they’re a d2 opponent, winning the game gives them confidence heading to the next game. I’m not a fan of playing Fisher or point park, I’d rather see them play a good MAAC school like Iona or Siena. Overall it is a tough schedule but I’d like to see more quality home games

Kid has a 40" vert and shot 57% from 3 on a top 10 HS team and he had no D1 offers, that's wild.

Reminds me of James Reese in that he's a good athlete/shooter but doesn't appear to do much off the dribble.

It's good to get in as his first offer, I'd imagine he piles them up in JUCO

His team was stacked, sometimes players get under recruited when your playing with some 4-5 star guys

I totally get where everyone is coming from... But I also think a lot of this is our terrible offensive line.. By far the worst line we've had in five years.. Look at how bad Marks has regressed.

They’re very young and inexperienced. They don’t look all that bad for having new faces

I'm certainly not expecting any sort of movement midseason - I meant more along the lines of evaluating for next year.  Coach Mo gets a multi-year leash to implement a system, his staff, his recruits.  But if the offense doesn't pick it up over the next 7 games, the offensive coaching staff should potentially be on the table.  We should expect better than 4 straight 3-and-outs in crunch time, in a 1-score game against an evenly-matched opponent.

I meant to say a few years not a year. 💯 agree with your statement. Once he gets his recruits in here that fit his system I believe we will be fine. Trying to implement a new system with players that are not his recruits in such a little timetable is tough. Just have to play and adjust game to game

This is where I'm at.  Huge regression on offense this season, and I really don't think Vantrease is the problem.  He has done what they've asked him to do all season to date.  I know they lost very important pieces on offense, and you have to expect a step back.  But it's really bad right now.  Maybe Matt Myers is the answer, I don't know, I'm not at practice all week like the coaches are.  But I'm already starting to wonder whether Shane Montgomery is the right guy at the OC position.

Head coaches and OCs I’d give a year. Hopefully they can implement there system with the right guys. I am concerned though that the offense seems too predictable, have to open up the playbook more.

Curtis will be key. We really missed having a backup or second point guard last season. Someone who can spell Segu and/or be used on the court at the same time. Just look to our tbt team and the teams under Oats…and you’ll find use of multiple PGs.

Honestly I see Mading getting playing time at SF. He’s extremely athletic, a great shot blocker and would create a nightmare matchup with some of the league’s smaller SF’s. I can see him being a factor off the bench

Let our guard down? No way, we got spanked all over the field. We have a lot of work to do to be consistently competitive. Clearly we have the fire power any given game, but our consistency is about as bad as i can remember.

Maybe not the best wording, we were great in the second quarter and seemed to mail it in after halftime. When marks fumbled the team just lost all confidence. They can’t handle adversity. ODU never gave up even through all their dropped passes and penalties. They reared back and hit us with a Tyson punch. We couldn’t recover from it, thankfully they missed the extra point. We have a lot to learn
