Ok add Sy Chatman to this roster, there is one scholarship left, but I think most of minutes for next season are already on the roster.  Trying to figure expectations for upcoming season is difficult.  My view we are 4-6 seed, 9-9 or 10-8 in MAC, composite rank of 135-175, but there is definitely a lot of unknowns.  Given that I will be looking for development of young core over the year building hope of better things in 2023-24. Curious what others think.  I expect the range of expectations to be large.

I feel like the team will be fun to watch, lot of high paced offense. I agree that we are a 10-8 team at best, definitely a development year. I’m intrigued to see What Blocker can do this season. He looked confident in his limited play time and is freakishly athletic. According to verbal commits he’s the only true SG we have on the roster, maybe Foster or Powell could switch to SG as well. I fully expect Caeser to compete for the starting PG position, possibly getting more playing time over Jones. He appears to be a better ball handler and is insanely fast with or without the ball. I know 3 point shooting is a huge concern but I’m more worried about the Center position with only freshman Issac Jack on the roster. With one scholarship left I would like them to grab a transfer center or SF to back up Adams

Any OL help is a good thing. Unfortunately his team last year was a bottom feeder. Hopefully he can help our unit.

A teammate and also a OLman got drafted last season. I don’t think Mo would take him as a transfer if he was playing badly, could be a depth piece. Heard we are going after a Rutgers OL as well

Is Josh 6'7.5" in shoes? He's not an SEC 5. He's really a tweener between three positions, size of a wing, game of a 5.

I have zero confidence that he could hold up in meaningful minutes night to night against Tshiebwe, Jaylin Williams, Bediako, Yohan Traore, etc. Maybe as an energy specialist off the bench.

A transfer like Skogman's to Davidson makes more sense for him, getting major minutes with more eyes on him than in the MAC. I'd guess he gets buried on an SEC roster once the intensity of conference play picks up, but happy to be proven wrong if he indeed ends up at Florida.

There’s only a handful of PFs that are stars under 6’7, Zion Williamson and Charles Barkley to name a couple. The SEC is full of huge big men and I can’t see Mballa flourishing there unless he really ups his game dramatically. I wish him the best though

    Is he an incoming freshman?

Yep, his recruiting just took off early this season. Had an offer from San Jose State and UC Santa Barbara. Played in the Biosteel all Canadian game a month back and had eight points against the best players in Canada, some being 4-5 ️ Players. Fort Erie is also a powerhouse, one of their players might get drafted out of HS. I believe he’s going to be good, like someone said, he gets better every season and develops quickly. Should do fine in the MAC

Hopefully a stud OL or something like that.

I saw that we were after a transfer from Alabama, a safety. And Coach Mo was following a Cuse OL. Hopefully it’s someone who can play this upcoming season

This year is the opposite of last year - we had a trio of stars amongst a large number of returning minutes with high expectations.  The roster for next year is nearly complete, and there is a lot of guess work to be made as to expectations.  Is Adams freshman version or sophomore version, how do the other newcomers Powell, Foster and Jones contribute.  My comps suggest Powell / Foster expectations of 8-10 ppg each - is that low / is high?  What do they get from Blocker / Mading / Williamson / Ceaser.  What is added with last 3 scholarships (1 big seems to be a necessity)   I guess I am looking forward to this fall to find out, hoping for good things at this time! 🙂

Definitely another SF, possibly Amari Tice out of HS. And then a PF and Center, like our chances of grabbing Selebangue from JUCO. Don’t forget that we can always add players late like we did with Mading

Well, Ceaser might be the best player on the team, so I think he'll be ready for at least that. That's what makes the roster that's taking shape so interesting and hopefully so much fun - we really have no idea who will emerge as our top performers. But Ceaser was a top player in one of the best metro hoops scenes in the country and I think he has a chance to blow up (into UB's Ja Morant 🤫). Speaking of Ceaser, he was on IG with fellow DMVer and UNI freshman Zion Russell threatening to dunk on all of Northern Illinois' big men the other day lol.

Also, let's not forget about Curtis Jones when plotting out two PG lineups. He was great down the stretch and I could see him showing major improvement with a summer of college training.

According to ESPN, Caeser is the 50th best pg in HS currently. He’s going to be a stud for us I believe. He’s one of the fastest players in the country as well.

More 3 guard line ups, think ub will be going back to those line ups.

Hopefully means means more ball pressure on the defensive end too

Jim likes the run and gun style of play. Which is exciting for recruits. I’m liking the transfers and commits we are getting so far. Just need to grab a big man or two. Possibly Williamson will play well this year

Wait. Jim wasn’t tweeting as much as some on here expect. How could this happen? 😉

Foley seems to be the only coach who hints at commitments, that’s how I found out about this one

After the spring game, who do you think makes the start in the first game of the season

I liked Snyders mobility, unfortunately they kept calling play dead when they lay a finger on him. Case has a cannon of an arm but I think Snyder will start at Maryland

I would be on board with that. Plus with our pace of play going 8-9 deep would be nice.

We are definitely looking at bigs but there’s probably not a ton of news about it other than Selebangue. Would like to grab him, a lot like Mballa when it comes to rebounding. I also believe Mading could make a big step this year. His shot blocking ability and athleticism is incredible. He’s just a bit raw.

So Bona pays a giant raise to keep their coach, now 4 of their 5 starters are in the portal. Quite an offseason. Sounds like back the ma middle of the pack program.

We aren’t the only ones being gutted, transfer portal rules and the NIL are going to hurt mid majors. On the flip side we will see power school players transfer down for more playing time and JUCO players are always there. It’s a free for all out there

  13. This is a huge get, former mr basketball in Florida I believe. Had a tremendous freshman year at UCF but slowed down his sophomore year. Hopefully a change of scenery will get him back to form. Absolutely a great signing

    Bad news.

Have to think he found himself sliding down the depth chart, especially with Sidney walker and Bessent coming in. I also believe Hartnett will be joining the team this summer. Have to think Mo is going to try to find a portal OL. Was very quick bringing in a TE after Williams left

I hope there's no hard feelings - I think he's proven that he made the right choice. His path has led him to a legitimate NFL career. I sometimes wonder if things would have been different for Anthony Johnson had he made the same choice as KJ.

I don’t think there will be any, it’s not like he transferred after a year at UB, it was a grad transfer. I think most bulls fans enjoyed watching him at Miami and now his time in the NFL

Whitesell has lost any saving grace he thought he had with his ability to keep players. The real roster glue was Segu from what I was hearing. Also has this new recruiting coordinator done one thing since making the jump from JUCO? He scored some pretty bad players so far, the team's best hire was a guy who forged documents to get Mballa in the first place.

The university took that Oats money, funneled it elsewhere, and is now okay with the definition of mediocrity and "20 wins is so hard to get" type of mentality.

The players he scored…on paper and recruiting wise actually seemed decent but didn’t pan out. Especially Brewton who was coastals second leading scorer and was receiving praise from Zion Williamson. I like the two transfers we have so far, Powell really took off recruiting wise after his decommit, heard Wichita State was after him hard as well. And Kanye Jones looks promising, new scenery could be beneficial for him.
however, other MAC teams have been successful in the transfer portal and in hs recruits. At the moment we only have 1 HS commit and haven’t seen any action when it comes to interacting or offering any HS players.
we still have time to build a team but is disappointing seeing other MAC schools grab great players at a higher rate than u
