lowering the field at UB Stadium to improve the horrendous sight lines.
This is an engineering and architectural nightmare according to architects. If you lower the field you will have to build a "bathtub" to keep water out on one end. The other end has massive rock, which will be a pain to move. The bathtubs are always a potential leak and flood, which is why they are avoid in construction, if at all possible.
The better move and less expensive move is to build a steel structure, the way south end zone stands are constructed out from the 200 tier and build over the existing stadium and out over the track, once it is moved. The field does not have to be lowered, which will tons of money. This method would allow a much faster turnover than lowering the field.

It's good that they're doing upgrades to the stadium. It was bad.
This why they are fixing it up. https://worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-relays/bahamas24/news/news/world-athletics-relays-bahamas-24-is-set-for-may-4-5-2024-in-nassau

It's the bottom of the bowl barrel, isn't it?
It is the first of all the bowl games. Except for the support staffs, who have to deal with customs and passports it is one of the great bowl games. Having been to Toronto, Boise, Mobile, The Bahamas and Montgomery, a few days in the Atlantis, beats any other place UB has gone for a bowl game.

A regular season conference champion that loses its tournament will no longer get an automatic bid. They will take the top two NET ranked teams from the Power 5 plus the Big East for the first 12 teams in the NIT, regardless of records. They all will at least one game in the NIT. They will then pick 20 more teams to fill the field.
The rules involve using the NBA/FIBA width for the lane and a different time out structure.
-
UB will enter the game in second place in the east by themselves. The three way tie with Ohio and Miami will be broken tomorrow (CBS Sports Network 3:30 EDT) as they play each other, making one 4-1 and the other 3-2 in conference. UB will be in the middle at 3-1.

The game has been moved from the Bahamas to Charlotte, NC for this year. The stadium in the Bahamas is undergoing renovations.
This can impact the entire bowl season for the MAC. Normally the division winners are not even considered for the Bahamas Bowl because of the logistics of getting all of the equipment to the Bahamas. This move could put a division winner in the mix for the game.

They play for the conference championship
Yes
No
They play in the conference championship game
Like I said, stupid. Playing back to back weeks would take the luster off the real Army - Navy game.
Almost as dumb as the Big 10 getting rid of divisions and having the top two teams play in the Conference Championship game. Do you think Michigan and Ohio State would have wanted to play each other on back to back weeks last year? Instead of both in the games, a sweep by one school would have kept the other out of the playoff, a split and possibly neither would have made the playoff.

Speaking of football and Thanksgiving UB football could learn a thing or two from Harvard Cup. Stop playing on Friday after Thanksgiving. Play Thursday morning on Thanksgiving Day
You do realize that UB has no say in scheduling and that here is no way they would play the final regular season game at home every year. They also would have to go through major hoops to put a game on local TV as the conference controls with ESPN the TV rights.

So the Little Three gets an automatic bid to the NCAA? Not even Philadelphia's Big Five gets an automatic bid. No automatic bid, no NCAA basketball money and Canisus and Niagara could end up like St. Francis (NY), without an athletic department.

This is just stupid.
Based upon the early discussions of this move (which has been rumored for weeks already) the Army-Navy game will never be a conference game. It will remain being played the week after conference championship games. What if Army - Navy is the championship game? Do they play back to back weeks? Which game is cancelled? What if one team is in the conference championship game? They have to play back to back weeks with the other school getting a full two weeks rest before the game. The generals and admirals will just love that when their academy loses.
Army was in a conference once before for football only. It was Conference USA. How did that work out for them? What makes them think that it will work this time?

Basketball always seems to get more engagement than football. I wonder if it is because there is no NBA team in Buffalo. But yes I agree, I love the activity.
What the Braves left Buffalo? When did that happen?

As if the concern was ever "not having a coach, staff and players" and not the appearance, timing, and quality of the search, and the resulting quality of the roster, etc.
Save the snark, it wasn't a smooth process even if most of us are happy with the result (before any actual results).
People on here were were acting as if there would never be a coach or a team.
Internally, it was a lot smother that it appeared on this board. Most of the stuff floated did not come from UB.

For everyone concerned that a new coach has yet to be named, based on discussions with people in college sports UB will have a coach and staff plus a roster for when practice begins in the fall.
With the exhibition game tomorrow, it appears we have a coach, staff and players. Use this as a reminder that the next time no coach has been hired in five days, to just relax, everything will be ok by the start of the next season.

I trust no lines when it comes to these guys. They are all over the place game-to-game and even quarter-to-quarter. Not loving the dual QB angle we plan to run. Maybe it works, but I have seen a lot of teams try that and it's not usually a great success. I suppose it can't get any worse.

I know the UB Development Division had their best year ever last year, but I don’t think they are as focused on NIL or athletic collectives
Athletics Departments at any school cannot raise NIL money.

Kickoff slightly after 15:30 on ESPN+. Should be the last streamed game of the year. After this all games are midweek MACtion games.

I'm coming into town for the Bills/Giants so I will be at this game. I haven't yet bought tickets. Did anyone know if and where they sell at the door? Is it more expensive if I buy at the door?
Price is the same in advance or at the gate. Tickets can be bought at the gate on the south end of the stadium, away from the scoreboard.

Game is at 3:30 on ESPN+. Last home game on a Saturday.
UB had its first ever win at the D-IA level against Bowling Green in 2000. That led Bowling Green to fire their coach and hire Urban Meyer as their head coach. The rest is history.

It's a free for all at this point.
There are actual periods, when you can actually put your name in it. I think this statement is that he is going to put his name in the portal. One period starts the Monday after all of the conference championship games. There is another period after the spring practice season.
Not sure how long the periods are, but as simple Google search should turn up the actual open periods for the portal.

I have no idea. I just know what architects have told me about the issues with trying to lower the field and building out and above the existing stadium.
