I’ve never donated to ub athletics and I know of others that won’t as well but we could get them on board with a plan.
Then you are part of the problem. What bothers me the most is people who complain about the situation at UB, but have done nothing (donated nothing) to help improve it.
You can donate to UB Athletics and designate the money for anything that you want, other than NIL. You want to set up a NIL group, speak with UB to do it the right way and start raising funds for NIL purposes.

I can’t figure out why we’re not in aac.
Because the additional revenue from the AAC will not come close to covering the additional expenses for the travel.

Only about 50 behind the UConn women.

I've outlined the strategy. We aim to secure a successful coach for $500k, and if necessary, we can engage in fundraising for additional money. However, I suggest prioritizing funding for NIL, directing the funds towards charter flights, buy games, starters, and three reserves initially. We may not necessarily require the department, as we can theoretically determine the terms for the funds raised. In the first year, our target is $4.4 million, with the goal of reducing it to $3 million to maintain a steady flow. Can we get 440 people to donate $10k each?
Money for NIL is for NIL. Travel and buy games are expenses for the school. Schools cannot pay NIL money.
As to your question at the end the answer is, no. I think that other for years when a donation has been made for a major infrastructure project has been made, athletics has not received $4,000,000.00+ in donations in total, let alone for basketball alone.

I have more issues with college coaches brand new unproven with fat money long term contracts over paying the players some NIL money.
What does a coach's salary have to do with NIL? Schools do not pay NIL money.

Just got an email from Athletics. The Spring Game is April 27th. That is what you get for working and trying to listen to an online call.

I think the coach said that it is tentative for April 20th.

Thanks for the information. I wonder if transportation by air was used by the UB teams under Coach Jack when thy had their great teams. Great to have the financial support from donors, alumni and the fans.
They flew for certain games with Coach Jack.

I believe Miami of Ohio is the longest trip by far. Wonder where the funds came from to fly. At any rate a good sign when Coach Burke can use that as a recruiting tool. Go Bulls!!!!
Northern is the longest and Ball State is the second longest trip.

In my 20+ years on this site, BrooklynBull has never shown any negative or positive bias towards active UB personel so from my perspective your claims are completely unwarranted. The only thing he is guilty of is telling bad jokes about how the secret to winning is scoring more points than the other team.
For those looking for an edge on betting the Super Bowl Sunday, the team that scores the most points at the end of the game is 57-0.

Regardless of who wined and dined you, or your allowance for wining and dining others (where does that money come from?) the point is that you cannot possibly be objective on the subject of Mark Alnutt's employment since you are indebted to the man.
I am reminded of Mike Harrington, who used to fairly report on the Buffalo Bisons for the Buffalo News (including their financial misdeeds). But then as soon as he was inducted into the team's Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame, he went straight up Bob Rich's ass.
Did not pass go. Did not collect $200. Straight on up there.
The money for me wining and dining others comes from my hard work.
I have not made one comment on here about the continuation of Mark Alnutt as AD. Nor have I commented on whether any coach should keep their job. It is not that I am indebted to any of them for anything. It is out of respect for them as people who have families and the relationships that I have because I have met and know them.
I have never asked for the Athletic Department to hire or fire any coach or administrator. That is not my role. I am a donor and have been one for over 40 years and hopefully will be for another 40 years. What I get is what any donor can get. Jealous? Then go https://ubbulls.com/sports/blue-white-fund and donate.
Now please go back to your Rapids thread, I think they just got a turnover and are on a fast break for a layup that you have yet to post about.

Based on that almost of all youth and high school are pros. I would love to see the P/l of a lot of college teams. The ruling would make hs and youth kids pros. I would love to see the P/L of img football or oak hill or mont. Academy basketball
The decision has nothing to do with professional or amateur status of the students. It just makes them employees. That creates many issues outside of the right to be in a union.
UB Law School is working on a blog post on the decision. Should be up by next week at the latest.

Good for him. A lot of people enjoy perks from work.
although, that picture shows a lot of “ncaa wastes a lot money” in my opinion. I do welcome private equity to college athletics.
The NCAA does not pay for the luncheon. It is paid for by the sponsors of the game. Private equity in college athletics will be the end of college athletics except for possibly a dozen schools. The rest all lose money, which private equity does not like.

I do not remember. Total cost to UB for me at the Dollar General Bowl, $0.00. I paid for my airfare, rental car and hotel. Same in Toronto, Boise, the Bahamas and Montgomery.

Makes sense. At the risk of asking a really dumb question, when you say "College games are to be played on Saturday, unless...."...is that enshrined in league by-laws, for example, or simply tradition. If the latter, I'm surprised there hasn't been more dallying with alternatives....
In the end, I just wish they played a few more Friday night games too.
It is sort of buried in the anti-trust exemption given to the NFL to allow its television deals. The NFL cannot play on Fridays or Saturdays until after, what is now the Army-Navy game. It was put into the law to protect college and high school football from being destroyed by the NFL on television in the late 1960s. The new NFL Black Friday game is played right on the edge of the protected time slots for college and high school time slots.

Anyone know why FCS teams don't play on other than Saturday night (Week 0/1...and Nichols-Southeast Louisiana excepted). As you may know, I have been at all the FBS stadiums and started poking at FCS stadiums two or three years ago. If they only play on Saturdays, I am neither rich enough, nor likely to live long enough to get to every FCS stadium as well.
Dar and I will be at the UB opener on the 29th of August. Then we will head to either Morehead State or Dayton for an FCS game. I sure wish there were a few Friday night games.
Anyone know why they only (generally) play Saturdays? Just curious....
I believe it has to do with television. College games are to be played on Saturday, unless "moved" for television.

If we wanted to add hockey, I think Murchies would donate for it. I can't imagine Warde, White, Greene, or Alnutt would look into it.
The Pegula donation to start hockey at Penn State was $88,000,000.00. That was 14 years ago. I do not know how much the Murchie family is worth, but that may be beyond their ability.

In a case involving Dartmouth the NLRB said yes. The decision does not impact UB, as UB is not subject to the National Labor Relations Act.

Currently has Arkansas State at 162 in KenPom as compared to 349 for GHIII and the Bulls. Bulls finished last year at 211 while Arkansas State finished at 287. Hodgson’s recruiting appears not to have missed a beat either.

ADMA severed all ties to the greatest era in Bulls basketball history! Hodgson is a local kid from Jamestown who is a die hard Bills fan. His story of rising through adversity of the foster care system is amazing.
Would you hire back a person to your company who when they left, while still your employee, was seen promoting a competitor? That is what Hogdson did. I would not rehire that person.

Why would we fire Alnutt? This makes zero sense. Obviously, Alnutt doesn't let the donors do whatever they want, otherwise we would have hockey or at least do the study to support the cost of adding hockey at Buffalo. Neither happened.
Hockey was looked into years ago. It was too expensive and there would need to be either the addition of women's sport(s) or dropping of existing men's sport(s). The cost has not gone down since the last time it was looked at.

Playing at the Flickinger Center downtown (or a more intimate venue that size) would make a lot more sense.
That will really help get the students come to games, moving them downtown.
Why not just reinstall the six or seven rows roll up bleachers in Clark Hall and play there again. It would make it easier for the public to go to games, as there are many people who live walking distance from the Main Street Campus.

One of the things I heard some donors with much deeper pockets than me grumbling about when Oats was here is that Tripathi won’t allow any coach to make more than him. No idea if there’s truth to that, but the money is there without cutting academic salaries. The President just won’t invest in our programs to be more than middling.
There have been coaches with higher base wages than Tripathi.

We would be going from the best academic institution in the MAC, to probably best in the AAC. Rice is an AAU school, and the only school that would be close to UB in academics. The rest of the full members (not counting Army and Navy) are no different than the bulk of the MAC.
