  1. When streaming ESPN3 the stream is constant without any freezes in the stream.  An ESPN+ game the stream will freeze for a few seconds and the pick up right where it was.  As a result for the NIU I got to the point where I was about 4 minutes behind what was actually happening, when i started off live.  I had to end the stream and go back on to get to the live action.  This occurs in multiple locations so WiFi is not the issue.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Sam Pellom - Many consider him the greatest basketball player at UB.

Jim Horne - Scored 1857 points, averaged 24.9 points (pre 3 point shot), Harlem Globetrotter.  Doing the math, in 1950s they played a lot less games.

If you are going to mention Horne with the Globetrotters, you should also mention Pellom with the Washington Generals (before the Hawks and Bucks).

Apparently lavish practice facilities — with amenities rivaling a 5-star hotel — are essential components of recruiting these days. I would think that sustained winning, NCAA appearances, and great coaching would be far more important. But hey I haven’t been 18 years old in a long time.

I don't think that's accurate.  Seems like what is wanted is a dedicated facility that can be used at all times by the players.  I don't think that's too unreasonable.

That is absolutely true.  That is why instead of renovating hte old training facility in the stadium to be a locker room/ lounge for the coaches it was turned into a fueling station lounge for the players.

Danny White said that when you are recruiting and you have prospective student athlete on campus you have one opportunity to wow them.  So the facilities they see can be key to a decision, as well as uniform combinations now.

When White made his comment to me I did not really believe that what he was said was true.  However, thinking back to when I looked at UB as a senior in high school I was sold on the  concept of Ellicott, dorms, class rooms and eating facilities all in a self contained building(s).  Fortunately, when I was assigned a dorm it was Goodyear Hall, which has a much better living design than either Ellicott or Governors.

So yes, bells and whistles sell.

Does anyone know of alumni who in the past have made big donations to the sports dept? Or is that a pipedream?

Besides Tunney Murchie and the nearly $8,000,000.00 he has donated towards the Edward Wright Practice Facility (f/k/a The Triple Gym),. the football offices and the fieldhouse as well as Burt Rubin's $1,500,000.00 in his will., define "big".

White and Rushing were backup players who received minimal time t best at their original schools, not all-league selections. I'd never question your allegiance BB, as you're all-in on UB always. I simply don't believe that we should be "happy" and "rooting on" players who leave us after we've invested and developed them as players, students and men. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the constant bouncing around of players all over the place, including high schools, which has become more frequent recently. It is what it is. Maybe our coaching staff will find a transfer/replacement for him who's even better. I'm just not going to root for him to have success elsewhere. I'm going to root for the UB players.

I have not weighed in on way or the other on the issue.  I agree that the movement going on is becoming ridiculous.  My point was that if Mcbulls wanted "compensation" to be paid by Miami to UB for Osborn to be mandated by the NCAA.  It would have to work the other way as well when UB gets a graduate transfer from another school.

Miami and other P5 schools further have no cause to pause when recruiting away a ready made graduate transfer from their G5 brethren. The NCAA, in order to maintain some semblance of a level playing field, needs to address the situation. Some form of compensatory transfer of scholarship(s) from the recipient institution to the donor, so to speak, seems most fair. Miami wants a polished 5th year starter from Buffalo? Two scholarships transferred to Buffalo in exchange. If we are to serve as a farm system to the schools we are expected to compete against we ought to have the benefit of casting a wider net up front. In this manner, player movement remains free but a cost is extracted from the bigger institutions almost always on the receiving end of top talent from the Buffalo's of the world.

Just out of curiosity what would UB have had to give to Notre Dame (White) and Wisconsin (Rushing) last season?

I got an idea. This is long overdue. They should promote a Buffalo Braves night and it will be centered around finally putting up banners of players jerseys and divison championships. Keybank center has no banners from Buffalo’s pro basketball team. What a way to honor them, plus showcase Buffalo’s current best basketball team UB.

The banners from all of their division championships are already hanging.  They never won one.

Let's say UB is still unbeaten in MAC play late in the season. There have been several sellouts at Alumni already. ADMA needs to raise revenue for another Oats extension after the season. Would it make sense to play a game or two at Key Bank Center in hopes of getting 8-10 even 12K attendance? More fans, more revenue, maybe an indication to Nate Oats that Buffalo basketball can reach the next level of community support and be worth sticking around for?

More expenses.  UB is not going top get the Crossroads Marine Midland Arena HSBC Arena First Niagara Arena Key Bank Arena for free.  What is the deal on concessions? What about parking (if the arena has its own parking facility)?

That's pretty sweet looking! Unfortunately, he's not playing due to injury. Great season by him and I wish that they were still playing this weekend.

It must be Januayritis, as I believe he has skipped the Pro Bowl every year.

I had to coach against Matt Myers at two different schools during his high school career, once as an 8th grader (at which time he may have already been the best qb in buffalo) and then as a senior.  He is without a doubt one of the best QB prospects I've seen in a long time.  I'm really looking forward to watching him at UB.  Good arm, savy kid, and I've seen him just truck a number of players while running his RPO packages....I really think he is going to be something special

He was also a student at Joe Licata's football clinics.

Ahhh yes, CBSSN - the network that refuses to stream so nobody under the age of 50 can watch. I can't wait to go to an empty New England bar at 9pm to ask if they'll turn on a MAC basketball game.

Actually the game was streamed.  It was available through the CBS Sports app.  It works like ESPN3.  You need a cable or satellite provider to be able to stream it.

Now if only Spectrum would consider some future game but I know it comes down to $$$. Go Bulls!!!!!

I really do not think that Spectrum would be able to televise a game without buying the rights from ESPN or CBS., and why would they pay for at least a CBS Sports Network Game when it is already on their system.  With the move to ESPN+ they are also unlikely to give a game away.

Also Spectrum would  take away a game from everyone who has Directv or Dish Network, reducing the amount of people who could watch the game from where it is streaming.
