UB has more than enough money to make us a strong G5 team. They just choose not to. They’re building a $100 million engineering facility. I’m not saying they shouldn’t, but athletics can’t even get a damn scoreboard, and the return on athletics investment is better. Oh well

With $20,000,000.00 from one donor towards the construction.  It should be 100% funded by the state, since it is for academics.  Everything takes private money.

MAC coach is one who keeps the team successful but stays put, Groce

Groce did not stay put.  He was at Ohio and went to Illinois after a run to the Sweet 16.  He had less success at Illinois and then was out. a  He is now at Akron.  He may stay now because he likes the less pressure in the MAC than in the Big Ten.  I think Coach Jack would agree with that perspective.

The New York Rangers have a clause in their MSG lease they have to play all there home games at MSG.

That is part of the property tax abatement that Madison Square Garden has had for years.  It was what MSG got from the city to not move to New Jersey in the early 1980s.  If the Rangers play a home game anywhere else they will lose the abatement.  Also not sure that they really have a lease since they are owned by the Garden.

Assuming the goal of the conferences is to get the best 2 teams in the Championship game every year (for TV).  Iowa was a terrible opponent for Michigan and OSU rematch or PSU would have much greater interest.  This is all about entertainment.

And with the 12 team playoff coming both Michigan and Ohio State games would be almost meaningless, outside of their fan bases.   Tghat would have been true of every Power 5 championship game this year except the ACC.

Do agree. We have no true center/power forward on this team. Johnson and Craig are way over weight with no quickness or jumping ability. Davis does show a lot of potential with her size and quickness but is only a freshman. Ogden does show positives both inside and out but is only one player. One other player is Oakland a foreign player with size but very thin who will not be able to bang with the other players in the MAC. Will be interesting to see how this coaching staff can navigate with this  roster.

I assume Oakland was an autocorrect for Ojala.  If you think she is not capable of bang with others in the MAC, I suggest you look at the career of Kourntey Brown.  They have very similar builds.  Brown was a two time MAC defensive player of the year and the conference player of the year as well as an honorable mention All-American.

  6. Hopefully they will split the years when we play them at home and on the road.  For the last few years we have had to make two trips to that area every other season.

I am against a lack of divisions and the Big 10 is the best example.  The last two years Michigan and Ohio State would have played each other in back to back weeks.  Last it could have knocked both out the playoff.

The expanded playoff starting next year will also lessen the importance of the championship games he Power 4 Conferences.

Looks like Mangas is out as OC, not sure who decided. Not that he was great in any way, but the coaching carousel on this staff is very disruptive and disturbing. Let’s see when is next, hopefully someone with some level of experience as an OC somewhere.

    Source.

Saw it on Buffalo News website. https://buffalonews.com/sports/college/football/dj-mangas-buffalo-football-offensive-coordinator-ub-bulls-lsu/article_58f8e01a-9056-11ee-aa2d-1bc6910c158d.html

As a possibility, Jimbo Fisher has nothing to do.

Only someone with close ties (BrooklynBull) would know, but "Donors" cannot really be happy with the downward trend of the athletic department over the past 3-4 years.

There are some things that I learn about afterwards in generalities, like the basketball coach search was not the chaos that it appeared to some here, that are not public.  The "leaks" were from outside of UB.  There was only one exception to this when I received a phone call saying that someone was leaving UB.  It may have been when Warde Manuel left for UConn, but I am not sure, if that was the one heads up I ever got.

I have no knowledge of the hiring process and what goes into the hiring of a coach.  I am sure that it is not much different at UB than at any other school.  As soon as there is an opening people will reach to the school or have their agents do it for them.  The school will reach out to people to see if they have interest.  Interviews are eventually set up, an agreement reached in principle and then an announcement.

If I was ever on search committee (I have never been asked), people would know I was on it because of a press release that would list my name.  That is all that I would ever say.  Even if there was not a non-disclosure agreement signed to be on a search committee, nothing would ever be earned from me about how the search went.

The only thing I "knew" about before it was made public was the selection of Mark Alnutt as Athletic Director.  I was able to learn from sources within UB, outside of Athletics, some information in general terms about the finalists.  With a little surfing the night before (more accurately in the early morning hours on the day of of the announcement) I was able to figure out who I believed the new AD would be.  What gave me the confidence to post it was that he had just been followed on Twitter by Nate Oats.

As a donor, winning is nice.  But to me what is more important are athletes leaving UB with a useful degree and being able to do something productive when their athletic career ends.  I have said this many times if I have a choice between 13-0 plus whatever happens after winning the MAC Championship and being known as a mill that does not care about athletes and just brings them in as rent-a-body to win or being 0-12 with a high APR and graduating athletes with useful degrees, I will take 0-12 every single year.

Cole Snyder isn’t going to be in the NFL he doesn’t have the athletic ability or arm strength to play in the NFL.

Have you seen Zach Wilson play? (Did you call for everyone at the Bills to be fired when he beat the Bills in a relief appearance?.) If Wilson an go in the first round, Snyder could make a practice squad.

Could NIL be ruled unconstitutional because of the disparity in compensation? Title IX.

No, because the Constitution does not govern Title IX.

Title IX is a statutory scheme that covers among other entities educational institutions that receive federal money.  If a school gave out NIL money, they would most likely be required to do so with the proportions required by Title IX.  A private entity that does not receive federal funding is not subject to Title IX.  That means that Dunkin', that is currently running ads with a number of women athletes, can spend in any proportion they want to spend and Title IX would not be an issue.

Since we know you are connected, can you elaborate a bit on this point...to the extent you can.  When you say "I know", that seems to me more than just a typical "I think" masquerading as actual knowledge.

It was the look of the track, it makes the stadium not look like "college football".

Where UB athletics screwed up isn’t completely there fault is they never saw the business changing. They figured give the UB Bulls coaches and players the best opportunity with UB facilities wise which on paper makes sense equal more wins than Buffalo fans will show up. The problem is today you need Buffalo fans interested to raise NIL. Unfortunately UB and Buffalo doesn’t have enough fans engaged and interested enough to go to the UB Bulls football games. Obviously now ignoring the Buffalo/UB fans complaints about UB Stadium amenities and the track is coming back to haunt UB football now when it comes to NIL. Because attendance sucks so bad now because Buffalo fans refuse to support UB football at outdated UB stadium hurts NIL. If you had a Buffalo community engaged in going to UB Bulls football games like Buffalo does the Buffalo Bisons at Sahlen’s Field or like St Bonaventure Bonnies at Reilly Center NIL wouldn’t be so tough. Buffalo likes Sahlen’s Field, Olean likes Reilly Center. Buffalo doesn’t like UB Stadium it’s a problem.

UB and UB athletics continues to ignore the Buffalo fans when it comes to UB Stadium and it will haunt this program with NIL until it’s upgraded with new video board is a must and removing the track is a must. If money is that tight I would move the football field when it is time to re carpet UB Stadium to the home side of UB Stadium and close the other side completely until UB can afford to completely remove the track. I would remove the end zone bleachers and just make it a tailgate end zone let them barbecue and bring there own food and booze in the end zone we need actual Buffalo football fans going to these UB Bulls football games. I would call it UB Bulls Rock Pile seating $10 you can tailgate the whole entire game with your own food and drinks. That is how the Buffalo Bills built a Buffalo fan base in the 1960’s you were allowed to bring your own food and booze into War Memorial Stadium. Tailgating happened at than new Rich Stadium out of protest because the Buffalo Bills lobbied the county of Erie to not allow Bills fans to bring their own food and booze anymore like at War Memorial Stadium. Buffalo Bills fans didn’t like it hence eating in the parking lots before you entered the then new Rich Stadium.

UB Bulls football is desperate now they need Western New York football fans to go to these games let them tailgate in the empty end zone take down the ridiculous medal bleachers that no one really uses. I think UB Bulls football could be the second hottest ticket in town behind the Buffalo Bills if UB and UB athletics isn’t so stubborn. Let the Buffalo fans tailgate anything goes and Buffalo fans will take UB Bulls football team to their heart than NIL opportunities. But UB if they aren’t going to spend the money on UB Stadium they need to relax the rules at UB Stadium when it comes to food and drinks let them bring a keg I don’t care as long as they buy a $10 ticket and become engaged with UB Bulls football win and lose attending games in person. UB and UB athletics can’t have it both ways either fix UB Stadium or anything goes at UB Stadium because what UB athletics are doing now clearly isn’t working drawing Buffalo fans our attendance is back to when UB football was FCS at UB Stadium in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

I am calling BS on the stadium as why people are not going to UB games.  I have decided against going to see any game because of the facility it was going to be played in.  I have never gone to a facility and said that I am not going to see another game because of the quality of the facility.  For all the people on this and other message boards or spying platforms (Discord for those of you scoring at home, or even if you are alone) claiming that the stadium has issues, I do not remember one person saying they were giving up going to games because of the facility, and yes I have gone to basketball and hockey games as well as concerts in the Aud.

For those who complain about soccer lines on the field, have you seen a Patriots' home game recently?  Soccer lines do not seem to be an issue for people in Foxborough.

Also, how many people beyond these boards are complaining about the stadium?  At most, and this is being very generous, there are maybe 15-20 people here who complain about the stadium.  As for removing the track, I know it has hurt UB for conference realignment in the past, but look at other stadiums that used to have tracks.  YOu can still see the make out of ht the track inside of them.  For four schools, take a look at Ohio State, Maryland, Wisconsin and James Madison.  If you look at the picture of the James Madison's facility in another thread, you can still make out the track.
