NCAA already announced no restrictions on transferring unless a court overturns it. But anyone that transfers until that happens won’t be punished. So it’s open season.

Doesn’t guarantee it. But I’ll bet the teams in the Final Four or heck most teams in the second weekend have a strong NIL program.

I could be wrong, but I believe Watson still has a year of eligibility left? Played 19-20 at Cincinnati, 21-22 at USC Upstate, redshirted last year at UB. Based on recent interviews, I had the impression that she’s coming back for one more go around.
She has another year. After they beat Toledo she said in the press conference she’d be back next year (which we’ll see if that’s the case).

Kind of pathetic there are sub .500 teams playing.

Can we lock this thread unless it actually pertains to us? Feel free to go to their board if you want to oogle over BH. He’s not our coach. Time we move on.

They have something. I was approached about donating to formally get it off the ground so sounds like it could be any time publicly. I’d say contact BWF for now.

Anyone familiar with their roster? Anyone of value Cage can swoop in on?
-
With Reggie out at Canisius, wonder if they have anyone we can snag?
-
With only Chatman out of eligibility only a matter of time before we see some portaling.

Are their any postgame interviews with UB that we can pick up??
Looks like some stuff posted here.

Yea. It was a playful question not meant to be taken seriously. Obviously success of any kind is better than 2 wins. I don’t count the win over a high school team.
It was 3 - CMU, Georgia Southern, and EMU. Get it straight! 😂

Watched some of his highlights, he’s insanely dominant at his level. Looks easy for him. When playing against competition at a higher level he still looks very comfortable, especially playing for Britain’s u-18 team. He’s arguably one of Englands top prospects. We will have to see how it translates to American college ball but he reminds me of a taller Mballa, has a ton of size
Best of all, as of right now, NIL rules are very funky for internationals, so not as easily swayed to leave.

Does everyone think we will be magically good next year?
NIL - $0
And yet oddly there’s plenty of teams better than us, including in our own conference, doing it with $0 too. Nobody asking for top 25 ranking. Just competitive again.

Assuming UB is still around 28,000 undergrads, that would be $65,520,000. That well exceeds our published Athletics budget for the year. In 2021-22, we expended $39.5 Million with revenues of $40.1 Million. It likely increased last year and this year at least incrementally. UB in Fall 2023 was $265.75 per semester or $531.50 = ~$14.9 Million. Raise it to $1,500/Year and you would end at $42 Million, excluding anything you receive from ticket sales, bowl payouts, pay games for MBB/Football, merchandise, etc. Certainly something that could be considered. JMU was at $58 Million for the Athletic Department Budget (highest in the Sunbelt on Day 1 of joining the conference).
The powers that be there feel athletics is important and enhances the school's profile. UB, as of now, does not have that same commitment.
Last I heard total enrollment was over 31,000. Not sure of the split.

Maybe I’m just old. But to scream the sky is falling in regards to transfers when you hit a bump in the road doesn’t seem like reality. There’s plenty of examples now of guys hitting the portal and not finding a home. To cry like a little baby and say that nobody is going to come back is frankly pathetic. Maybe it ends up that way, but let’s not put the cart before the horse. Again, same could have happened last year when Becky lost her entire coaching staff and the entire recruiting class asked out of their NLI, but we ended up 4th. Not saying it’ll happen that way, but holy crap some of you guys are soft.

There is a really good chance at 80% of the roster being new next season. The turnover of players will be real and again we will be looking at another historic losing season. Wishing for the best but the future does not look bright.
You know this for a fact or you’re just talking out of your butt? Such doom and gloom before we have any real info at all.

Imagine if our MBB were as well coached and determined defensively as this Ball State WBB team.

I looked it up and both Amhersts are named after the same guy, Jeffrey Amherst, Commander in Chief for the British. But, his history is one that doesn’t hold up well for honoring. Who’s got something?

Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby is the reason EMU is eliminating their track around the field.

you would think there would be some level of coordination with arguably one the most accomplished Atheltes to come out of UB for this?
Who’s to say there wasn’t? He likely knew of this well before the official announcement. Devils advocate for the athletic dept here, KM has done little to nothing for UB. I’m unaware of any monetary gifts like so many MAC players have done, despite him being at one point the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. Not sure what his deal is but from the outside it looks like he could give a crap about anything going on in Buffalo.

Toledo stacks conference wins years after year under Coach TK and they are always frauds. Never win anything. Gonna be the same story this year. Woof.
Agreed. I wasn’t impressed. Free throws 27-30 for Toledo vs 11-11 for UB. Difference in the game right there. Despite us playing just ok.

Or they could not do it at all and people could be still bitching about it in 5 years.
Exactly. Past is the past. Let’s move forward and give ourselves a shot.

Honestly shocked the staff couldn’t find a single player to transfer down with all their connections.

Fired after just 2 years at SMU. Won 10 games last year and 20 this year. Lost to Indiana State in first round of NIT.
