  1. I think we won't fall past 19. Buffalo is getting some love from the national press and they won't turn too hard on their new darlings. Plus Kent State was a good bounce back win.
  2. I'll be a little more optimistic and say 19. Kent was a good win and NIU was buzzer beater.
  3. The shooting is killing is. Same way we lost Tuesday. Missing free throws and layups.
  4. They have to make shots. They've been terrible shooting lately.
  5. Sure the refs were awful but the Bulls shooting was atrocious. Make one more bucket or a couple of free throws and that's a W. You can't shoot that way and expect to win.
  6. 13 Maryland and 10 VA Tech lost Monday and 9 Kansas was nearly upset at home by Iowa State. The problem is losing to other ranked teams won't make then fall much if at all.
  7. No idea. I wanted to sit in the clubs (a deal @ $20) Never saw anything designated for one school or another. Bought them online through Ticketmaster or Tickets.com.
  8. But how many fans bought tickets away from the school? For example, I wasn't even aware UB had an allotment of tickets and I went right to the arena and bought mine.
  9. The B1G might be a tad ambitious. Sure we fit right in academically, but athletically? That's a big leap budget-wise. I think Mark Alnutt has his eye on the AAC, the conference Memphis belongs to. I asked him at the Women's Sweet 16 (as well as Allan Greene at the BC game a while back.) It's two things: budget and when the conferences will re-align next. Allnut said he thinks things will start to shake up in a year or two. AAC teams will move up, creating room for new members. His big concern is budget, especially travel in a conference footprint that covers half the USA.
  10. Not really, at least at Alumni. At UB Stadium they have Red Osier beef on weck and Johnsonville brats which are good. But Alumni fare is your basic pretzel/nachos/hot dog menu. At least they are selling beer now.
  11. The article makes clear that Oats would rather stay and that a lot depends on if the school shows support. (Namely a student rec center or dedicated practice facility.) But there is no question Oats will be highly sought after.
  12. Somebody (ADMA?) got caught flatfooted here, although the Bulls were expected to be good this year. How hard would it be to crank out some T's in a hurry? The athletic Department needs to be looking to maximize revenue every way possible. Does anyone know what the concession situation is at Alumni these days? Do they have satellite stands set up so the 6K in attendance can get grub? Hate to admit it I've only been in town for one UB game and that was at Koessler High School Gymnasium.
  13. Couple things. One, Bona isn't ranked. We are. Two, I don't know why Bona plays in Rochester. Maybe it's a recruiting thing? But They have no connection to the city. Buffalo wears the city's name on their jersey. (Oh how we fought over that!) I'm not saying move every game to KBC. But how about all the games during school breaks, plus a few marquee opponents? Watching the crowd on TV my guess is most of the non-student fans look like older alums who are getting their school spirit rekindled. And that's great. But we also need area kids to get invested. They are your future fans. Mom and dad can't afford $300+ to take the family to a Sabres game, but they can do a UB game for under $80. Also, we need to get Bulls swag into the Wegman's stores and Walmarts.
  14. And that can happen. The Sabres and Bills tickets are out of the reach of many typical WNYers. That's where UB comes in. High quality play at family friendly prices. I really believe that's a niche to be exploited.
  15. And as far as the Pegulas are concerned, don't overlook the fact that they are looking at the future of the KBC, including a possible new arena. Having another strong tenant might be something they would want
  16. This was what I was basically going to say. But on top of this, if we want to be able to afford to keep Nate Oats around, we need more revenue. If you only have games at Alumni and you are selling out, then your revenue from attendance is capped. There is a void for basketball in WNY. The Bulls can fill it. If we can somehow build a consistent contender why can't Buffalo become like Syracuse? We love what we have but we also have to grow to keep it going.
  17. The idea is getting 10K non-student fans at a minimum. ADMA should be looking for ways to maximize every nickel of potential revenue while the Bulls are this hot. Selling beer was a great move. I hope they are also setting up more concession stands. Hard to feed 6K with just one and you're just leaving money laying there if you don't have concessions all over Alumni. Same for team swag. They should have stuff to buy all over the arena and all over town. $$$$$$!!!!!
  18. Power program bias. It will be what blocks UB from the Top 10. There will need to be an utter collapse of teams above us to reach 10 or higher.
