"Prior to the internship, Williams served as an Operations Intern with the Alabama men's basketball team, assisting the Director of Scouting and Analytics with summer camps, official visits, and other day-to-day operations within the program, while also assisting the Director of Athletics Communications in social media management."
Take that Oats. Payback!

While I would have liked it, barring an official announcement I don't know that this would be the forum to name names.
True.
By liked I mean the entire staff was there he brought them up on stage and introduced them. I know i'm asking for a lot on this one.
-
Random thoughts.
A little short.
I would of liked him to say more on a new staff.
I think he said in the nicest way he could. He doesn't want those portal players back.
I liked it.
Not reading between some lines but
I also hope Neptune has a very very very good run at Nova.

11 could be retired three times now!
To add to this. Williams is in a very very long line of Jerseys that should be retired.
1. Battle
2. Massinburg
3. Javaon McCrea
4. Perkins
Off the top of my head.

That wouldn't do well here.
I didnt say it would be a high up assistant.

What they are saying about George Halvovage III:
"George is one of the best coaches we've ever had at Villanova. He has recruited, developed, and mentored our players with passion. George is a great leader and basketball mind. We'll miss him and Lizzy. The University at Buffalo is getting a creative, committed Head Basketball Coach. " Jay Wright (CBS / Former Villanova MBB Head Coach)
"George and I both came to Villanova in 2008 and we have grown up together in this business. As a coach he is an outstanding tactician and superb recruiter whose efforts were instrumental in this program's success. On a personal level, he is a great friend, a brother, who will be an amazing head coach at the University of Buffalo. We are thrilled for George and Lizzy as they begin this new chapter of their lives." Kyle Neptune (Head Coach Villanova Men's Basketball)
"Coach G is a great leader and basketball mind. He is more than prepared to lead UB Basketball and represent New York! At Villanova he had constant dialogue with his players and was always focused on doing what it took to help me become the best player I could possibly be every single day. I have great confidence that he will thrive as the Head Coach at UB!" Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks / Villanova MBB Alum)
"I have had the opportunity to watch Coach George Halcovage the past 10 years and I have no doubt he will do an incredible job at The University at Buffalo. George had a hand in every aspect of the Villanova Basketball program as an assistant coach to Jay Wright. He is a tremendous floor coach and tactician with a network of contacts that will help UB build an elite program in the MAC. George possesses the ability to communicate and connect with players while understanding that the role of a head coach is not only to win games but help build a bridge for players to cross after graduation. I look forward to following his and UB's success." Seth Greenberg (ESPN / Former Head Coach Virginia Tech)
SourceWe were not getting this type of press from any other candidate.

I think we need to devote @Jeseph and the need for him to walk his dog more to its own thread.

$100k is a lot of money for the athletic department... It takes a lot of effort to raise that much money for the program.
I still highly doubt we just complete cut ties and paid out that extra 100k.
He is probably still on payroll until Monday, with that being his last official day with the university.
I also doubt CSA is gonna get paid unless we actually use one of their recommendations.

Gotta give sparks credit he stuck it out an extra year in the Mac he didn't need and tried the mid major approach
Or is this the start of the haves and have nots in regards to NIL
I think NIL is getting to much attention. Not every athlete ad a P5 is getting NIL money. Even then not every one is getting significant money. Even in the P5 schools the money isn't the same. I think there is room for us to complete.
Were not going to be able to get Arch Manning and his $3 mil+ in NIL. But then again we were never going to get him anyway. But the 7th or 8th guy off the bench at Duke who NIL might be a couple thousand. We can compete with by offering more money and more playing time.

SUNY is a whole different animal compared to most of those other institutions listed.
This is the understatement of the thread.
You could tell me we must pay our coach the same as SUNY Cantons's coach. To make things fair across the system.
Or that this must be an internal hire in the SUNY system, and we need to go find another SUNY basketball coach and have them "internally" transfer.
Come to think of it. If we were to go poach another SUNY coach. Would we have to pay a buyout to the school? Its all SUNY money after all?

Unfortunately it comes down to this. UB is a top academic and research institution. Administration wants to prioritize that and they always will. If we pour money into athletics we risk our academic reputation just to be good at sports, just look at the other big name schools. When someone looks at Alabama, they think football, when someone looks at UB, they should think academics. We ride this fine line of reputation vs party, and in the end I’d rather have the former. I’d love to boast a great sports team, and I hate seeing the incompetence we have, but it’s not the end of the world.
Explain
- UNC
- Texas
- Ohio State
- Pitt
- Purdue
- Michigan
- Michigan State
- Maryland
- Clemson
- UF
- Virgina
- UCLA
- Georgia
I could go on. However there are plenty of on par or much much better schools for academics, that also have athletics at a vastly superior level then us. All these schools people also think about that is a really good school.

I think the White Duke connection had a lot do with that.
