The assistant coaches said the same as being heard fromBH, promote me or I'm gone. They followed "Boltman" to Ohio State which decimated the team this year. He did this not early like Oats, almost at the end of AAU season. When Brad Stevens left Butler, he called all his players into Hinkle Field House and had notified all past players he coached of a team "family" conference call. My son was on that call. The only people who knew before the team and former players were his wife, Celtics' Danny Ainge, and Butler AD Barry Collier. He told his kids and parents after. CLASS ACT unlike Boltman (Chris Holtman) and Oats.

Don't plan on UB changing conferences. That requires $$$ and the State will not approve. UB is an Academic Institution as are all SUNY schools. The Big East has all private religious schools except Butler that (except this year) adds revenue to the conference from NCAA appearances including some Final Fours. UB's hope is the A-10 and that's a long shot. Does anyone know what UB's MAC buyout is?

Wasn't Turner runner-up to Oats? When was the last time UB hired a former D1 head coach? Not Hurley, Not Reggie, Not Oats, etc... Does it make sense for a HC from a mid to low major to consider upgrading to another 1 bid conference? Hire the top D2 or JUCO coach or a #1 assistant somewhere with local ties. The same reason why UB can't get the top 1 or 2 players locally, i.e.: Taplin, Nwora, etc is the same reason they can't get an experienced D1 HC with a proven track record.

RANDOM THOUGHTS... Oats is busy trying to hold the 'Bama recruits and the PG asking for a transfer. UB needs to develop some consistency. In a 1 bid conference, very difficult. Irony, how many Alabama players currently on the squad were hyped by Reggie? I'm sure he recruited a few. UB can't survive in a power conference. What happened vs TT would be every game. Hero ball doesn't work. Maybe the A-10 will open up. Alumni arena has limitations and the top conferences have major TV contracts requiring viewers. Buffalo is still a small market. I remember Coach Jim from Horizon League Loyola days. He ate Butler's lunch in a Valentine's Day game though Coach Stevens normally prevailed. UB got Hurley because of DW. If UB can't groom from within, it can reach out to assistant coaches with ties to the school i.e.:TB, up and coming D2 coaches i.e.: McDonald, and even semi-retired proven coaches who want 2-3 years, i.e.: Matta, Licklitter.

If Bryan is in the running and he is/was the lead recruiter, I don't understand the "abandon ship" by the recruits.
