Agree with the retaining our recruits, disagree with KJ and Mabry being too good for UB. I hope that’s not actually how you feel because that mindset basically means we only deserve 2 star players and don’t have a right to try to be competitive

I’m fine with the hire as long as we keep Quarles who apparently was our offensive mind along with Oats, and run the same tempo of offense. We also need a recruiter. Someone charismatic that can really sell our recent success

Our new focus needs to be recruiting and then a practice facility. Perhaps the lack of a dedicated practice facility could be what’s making this job unappealing

If the UB men’s basketball team wins the MAC tournament again next year, I will get Jim Whitesell’s face tattoo’d on my chest to constantly remind me that I was wrong about this hire I fully believe in his coaching ability, I just have my doubts that we will be able to recruit as aggressively as we did with Hodgson

I just hope it works out. He’s a great coach, but recruiting plays a huge role. I guess I’m just mostly annoyed at having a search firm hired to conduct a national search with multiple big names thrown around just to hire Whitesell. They should’ve just done it from the beginning and maybe we wouldn’t have lost all our recruits. Whoever the recruiter is coming in, they have their hands full

??????? I’m embarrassed that he threw money around for a search firm just to end up hiring someone that’s been on our staff the whole time. I’m embarrassed because I’m almost positive he tried being stingy with how much he was going to pay which is why the P5 coaches turned us down. What is so difficult to understand here? UB has proven itself to be a launchpad for coaches to get eventual P5 head coaching positions that pay 7 figures. Why the hell else would they turn down that chance??

There’s nothing excessive about it, it’s just different from your opinion. I had my doubts about Alnutt, this just proved them. They should’ve hired a new coach from a P5 school with recruiting connections and had Whitesell stay as an assistant. This is just embarrassing in my opinion

All I’m saying is we better hire a damn good recruiter. Whitesell is a good coach, but what we need is someone that can rebuild this shitshow of a recruiting class Pardon my language
