Coach Stutzman - Wrestling

Recommended Posts

No idea what prompted this, but Coach Stutzman has been relieved of his duties. Not sure what ADMA is thinking with this one, but I wish Coach Stutz the best. He was all class and bringing in a really good recruiting class. I'm sure he will find a job quickly, but of all UB athletics problems, wrestling wasn't one of them.

Probably not going to find anybody more passionate to lead UB wrestling than Stutzman, especially with him being an alum. Headscratcher for me.

I am really curious as to what goes on in the brain of our AD. I’m very hopefully for Lembo, he actually feels like a Buffalo guy. I just don’t understand why you create a problem with a program where there isn’t one. Had a solid season, every single starter was coming back and we had a top recruiting class coming in. Does ADMA have a friend who is a wrestling coach that needs a job?

That's what I was wondering. Seems like a move you would make if you had somebody lined up. Or maybe it was something petty like Stutzman wanting more support and Alnutt got sick of hearing it.

Word on the street was Stutzman wanted more for his guys, better AT support, better academic support, etc. He was probably a squeaky wheel, but from what I have heard, it was about fighting for the guys, not himself. He had a 2-year contract that was no renewed last season, so I'm guessing ADMA was likely frustrated with the complaints, but if the Olympic sports don't get the support they need, I would want a coach that stands up for that.
