Sportsfan
Both teams are legit and look to be headed back for a rematch in championship game. BTW, interesting that both programs hired within when their headcoach retired / went to Power 5. Stability of the staff's seems to be paying off for them. Bluebird96
Toledo ranked #23 in last Sunday’s AP poll before beating CMU yesterday to finish the regular season 11-1. Miami (OH) even received 1 vote in the rankings at 9-2, playing Ball State today. Will be interesting to see if either one ends up in the final Top 25 poll depending on the outcome of the MAC championship game and their respective bowls. UBinMD
Isn’t Miami (OH) in the championship against Toledo? On a sad note, especially for Buffalo, they couldn’t even get 82 teams to 6 wins. Is this what we have to look forward to for college football? Glad it worked out for JMU and Jacksonville St since they should get that experience, a 5 win Minnesota team, not so much

If Toledo wins and then wins their bowl game I would think they’d have a decent chance to finish in the Top 25 at 13-1. If Miami manages to beat Toledo and then wins their bowl game to finish 12-2, it will be interesting to see if they crack the final rankings. Would be great to see the much-maligned MAC have a ranked team to finish the season!

Could be a death knell look at where we are now after being ranked.

Well, Miami did in fact take home the MACC trophy, but in doing so knocked the MAC out of Top 25 contention (at least for now). Current AP poll has M-OH 30th with 31 votes just ahead of Toledo with 22 and then LL’s Jayhawks with 8 votes.
Blue03
I know this isn’t what the thread was initially talking about, but the starting QBs for Toledo (Finn) and Ohio (Rourke) have both entered the transfer portal.

How perfect is that for what college football has become? So are these guys forgoing their bowl games and screwing their teammates for the POSSIBILITY of getting to a bigger school and MAYBE getting to the NFL? Isn't that really what the portal is designed for when you leave a successful team and are a starter? Similarly 8th year player (seemingly since he is the 3X Sunbelt Conference POY) Grayson McCall is also looking for a greener pasture. Do these guys think they are going to Ohio St to be their new starting QB? Where exactly do they think they are going? As a bitter fan, how are the players that didn't go to the Camellia Bowl last year doing in the NFL this year? Anyone have their stat lines?
