  1. Obviously Baylor will win more this year than Kansas. As far as happiness goes, i could be plenty happy with 13mil, and I think most others would be as well, win or lose. Might get POed losing, but it will pass once the $100k check comes every pay period.
  2. I'd wager that Lance is plenty happy with $13mil. Gall will need to make the NFL for several years in order to be that happy.
  3. I still believe that we may have won this trade. We got $$ (still not enough in my view based on the amount left on the contract) and a potentially excellent new coach. To do this in May is an A+. Could it blow up? Sure. I'd say the chances are much greater that it doesn't. Unlike many here, I'm not much of a bettor, but I'd definitely take my chances on a MAC title coming sooner than later.
  4. Surely just reduced and not eliminated.
  5. Finally a bigger buyout. We got burned in the previous ones.
  6. Yes, I figured as much. Giving the head job to someone whose only d1 experience was a couple of years as the recruiter (yes, a very good one) would be unlikely.
  7. I think JQ is fantastic but I don't know that he would've been considered over JW, same for BH.
  8. How was Whitesell the "2nd best assistant"? Wasn't he 2nd in command while Nate was here?
  9. Well, Kansas went from a BCS national championship coach to a coach that has never won a MAC title. Maybe that's why some of these guys left.
  10. Who was that Lance guy? I'm hopeful that 8 months from now we all are saying that. Again, I think this is a potentially great hire (nothing is ever a guarantee). I just hope that the buyout is strong and that we can get a few good MAC titles before he goes to greener pastures. Mediocre bowl wins are far less meaningful than conference titles, in my opinion. This school should be playing for the title in most years now that the football infrastructure has grown. They may not win them all, but they should be playing in 4 out of 5 years from this point forward (same goal should be for bball as well!).
  11. Spot on with both points (although only time will tell on each). Also hope that he's better in game than LL...there was a lot left to be desired in many instances! It's quite possible that we won this trade. Again, only time will tell.
  12. Seems like a good choice. At minimum, it's a coach who surely knows a ton of good football guys, considering the places he's been. Again, I think it's an upgrade...I don't see this coach losing to Albany (or it's equivalent) any time soon. Now let's see who the assistants are and which players stay/go. If they choose to go, adios. If they stay, build on last year and finally win the MAC again!
  13. Also, the $$ isn't absolutely ridiculous in women's bball vs men's/football. The P5 $$ for the latter is just dumb. Women's bball salaries are good money, not stupid money. I hope she's here forever.
  14. Agreed on all. Not sure what it will take to make the last line stick. Coach Jack is the closest to that at this point. Not sure about how the other 2 happen.
  15. Might want the head coaching experience so that he can use it towards the LL type payday.
  16. Linguist would be an upgrade in my opinion. Who would he be able to put on staff in May is the tougher question, in my opinion. Potentially promising possibilities. In the end, kansas changing their coach may pay dividends for UB. LL wasn't the "be all end all" (he's not Nate Oats), and simply the timing of this is the toughest hurdle to navigate.
  17. It's a football field house. Don't kid yourself. Sure, track uses it, but it doesn't have a track in it, unlike pretty much any other school that has an indoor facility. It's incredibly gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but it's a football facility first and foremost. Yep, that Gill season was lucky miracle one after another. In the end, they won MACs, LL didn't...and again, did it without all the niceties that the team has now.
  18. Gill won with far less resources. This UB Football program spends like the government. They've got a football only fieldhouse, fancy locker room with barbers and games and more, recovery rooms, weight rooms, nutrition rooms, video rooms. They Should be winning against teams like akron and bg. If they didn't, they should be instantly fired. $$ is all that matters to coaches and athletic directors. They'll all instantly leave their "beloved" schools for a raise at a moment's notice.
  19. LL must be thankful for the shortened 6 game season, so they can go undefeated in the regular season against extremely bad teams and avoid teams that would've beaten them. Even at 10-3, they wouldn't have been ranked in the top 25. Thanks for all the MAC Championship wins LL. But hey, UB won the bahamas bowl and got a nice vacation for the coaches and UB staff's families.
  20. I don't disagree. But hey "Bulls4Life" and "we bleed UB blue" right? Until something "better" comes along, that is.
  21. Just because they enter doesn't mean they'll leave. But I'm not holding my breath either on this front. It depends on who is brought in and how well they can sell themselves and their vision to the current squad. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a mess, but as of now, it seems like a toss up.
  22. Who else would he put on his staff other than these guys? Whatever, adios to all of em.
