  1. This is long, LONG overdue. But I had heard in the past they wanted to honor him but since he was off coaching during the season, it was difficult to schedule/arrange. Turner Battle and company (Bird, Bortz, Gilbert) were the ones who set this program on the path to competing and winning things. I don't know how they convinced a top 100 recruit to come here, especially considering where the program was at the time, but that was a leap few if any others would make. (Apparently it was over offers at Pitt and Virginia Tech, because he wanted to play for Reggie). And it got the ball rolling for everything afterwards. With all due respect to Wes Clark, who I consider the most talented player they've ever had, CJ, Watt, McCrea, Perkins...Turner is still the guy I want with the ball in his hand running the show at the end if we need a score. Battle (in an article at the time): "me and the other seniors always dreamed of turning this program around." Those are the kind of guys we need for next year. In the world of unlimited transfers and NIL money I realize that's a tough stretch. As for future players to be honored, you have to consider Watt and McCrea since they won MAC player of the year awards. Watt in his senior year was almost unstoppable at times at both ends of the court. CJ is a no brainer someday, probably Perkins as well. Maybe Idbihi. The bar might be too high for Mike Martinho, Calvin Cage, Will Regan. I'll dig out my old Mighty Maniacs shirt for Saturday's game.

  2. Ahh, Mets fan. I get a kick out of his cartoonish exasperation over teams I don't care for (especially the Dolphins, Devils, indifferent about Mets), but I totally understand it being unbearable if it overlaps with your own real passion. I enjoy him and Rico and any of the other wrestling/shock jock-style guys at Barstool because I treat them like the fictional characters that they largely are. Not sure I'd be able to share a 30-minute Uber ride locked in with either though. But then again, I'd take either of them over Nate Geary or Sneaky Joe any day of the week so 😂 Point remains though, Hodgson gets current college basketball as well as anyone today. He's a hustler, he was Nate's bag man, and my guess is he'll be HC at a second tier P5 after two more seasons.

  4. Happy to agree that the refs made a blunder here not handing out matching techs, which was the obvious call. https://youtu.be/an0bVaTjF_Y?si=BpL4dq-dUnwHIU50

  5. I suppose I have a different definition of hilarious, or maybe it's the coach in me. I do find it funny to see someone toss a shoe like that - I just don't find it funny if that's costing them points at the end of a close game. If he got up and pushed back, fine. Because maybe that gets a matching technical (or nothing at all). I thought Hurley was a regular clown for his antics, but at least you could say he was firing up the team/crowd. This was just free foul shots for the other team, after (as you described) THEY were the aggressors. Amongst a sea of demoralizing losses, this was an especially atrocious one because down the stretch, it was largely due to poor foul shooting. ("Poor" being an overly polite way of putting it). I know foul shots at the end can be tougher under pressure, but they're still foul shots, something you can control for being good at.

  6. Are you eating his contract? Do you want Alnutt hiring the replacement?

  8. He's an encyclopedia of baseball knowledge but acts like a child when his team (which happens to be my team) does anything remotely bad. He's predicting they go 32-130 this season, which is 18 less wins than a team that signed something like 3 free agents and has an owner that is attempting to move the team. And is worse than every other team in the history of MLB since 1900. To Frank every player is washed up until they sign elsewhere, then they're an all star. FWIW the three top pitchers he whined about that signed elsewhere or were traded are injured and returning in June (Scherzer), injured and returning in August (DeGrom), and may or may not be available on opening day (Verlander). I get that it's all part of his shtick and Barstool needs the clicks so he says outrageous stuff. I'd just rather listen to him go through random baseball anecdotes and history than watch him scream into a microphone about a 5-4 loss in April. And there's so much screaming that it isn't worth it for me to follow the other stuff IMO

  9. BrooklynBull I am not saying it keeps 10,000 people away. But UB Stadium is a problem. Buffalo football fans grew up with great site lines in Rich Stadium and the new Buffalo Bills stadium is getting MLS stadium stacked seating straight up like the old Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. Especially with today’s younger generation why leave home or the dorm room if the television viewing is better than UB Stadium? It’s a problem especially that outdated video board doesn’t help either. I would buy the largest video board for that end zone like Sahlen’s Field if I was UB athletics. That at least buys UB athletics some time until they can raise the money to remove the track and I would take out the bleacher seating for chair backs straight up as stacked and as high as possible to improve viewing at UB Stadium in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

  10. Was probably in the 1980s. Re: Building a new stadium in the same location, regardless of whether it has a dome, wouldn't justify the cost, as large events like the Super Bowl and Final Four would never happen. Anyone remember we hosted World University Games? The traffic was ridiculous. We don't have enough hotel rooms and the airport is not big enough. Forward thinking would be Bills/Bulls stadium project in Amhest.

  11. There are a bunch of players I'd consider over Segu like Yassin the Dream, Calvin Cage, or Mitchell Watt.
