We tried to play them this year, they said no. Which is funny because we played the last 2 games at their place. I think we should play them every year. It's a good way to have each team pull in a decent opponent and crowd for a home game.

Think about it this way, if we played Bona this weekend and they were 11-1 and ranked going into the matchup, would we have wanted to win that one game more than any other on our schedule? Of course we would. I agree about Reggie not playing into it - would have been weird for him to say "Yeah I really wanted us to win that game because they fired me, they're down the street from us, they're ranked, and this new coach thinks he's hot shit because he did in less than 4 years what I couldn't do in 14."

Nice recap. With UB's success this year (both men's and women's + football) I haven't paid too much attention to the rest of the Big 4 this year. Pretty disappointing to see the other schools struggle this season after such good records last year. If UB stays in the top 25 multiple years, we can build a good college basketball culture in Buffalo. But this is unrealistic - the rest of the Big 4 needs to be at least around the NIT level. There's no reason why any Big 4 team should not sell out most home games given the population of the Buffalo metro area and talent of UB/SBU.
