  1. Just heard an interesting tidbit on the halftime show. Second year in a row the semis are all Ohio schools. They are separating themselves from the bunch. Something to be fearful of for recruiting purposes.
  2. Thank you. I value @enrique14150and his views all season. He’s at the games and sees the players firsthand. Obviously when coach and players are in sync you get championship results. I just feel there’s a growing disconnect there. Almost as if Whitesell is trying to force a square block in a round hole.
  3. Most of my criticism falls on the head coach. If you take away two wins against high school teams we were 13-17. Unacceptable. Lots of our loses were blowouts. In his tenure he cannot beat the top MAC schools. Since our title game appearance, with Oats holdovers, we have regressed as a program. My fear is that we will retain Whitesell and the program will continue to plummet. First losing season in 10 years! He shows me nothing in terms of player development. Lots of his high school recruits don’t even see the court (Williamson, Caesar, Mading). Blocker will be a junior, is he ever gonna develop? He misses with transfers. That’s a long list. And players seem to regress under him. Graves is an example. The offense is basically iso ball. There doesn’t seem to be any plan of attack other than go fast and faster regardless of how reckless you are. I have no confidence in this coach. Many have made the argument that this team is young and just needs to gel. Well our best ball came early in the season and we regressed as conference play rolled on. Ask yourselves why didn’t we gel? What were the reasons? What gives you confidence that you can project growth in the future? If Whitesell couldn’t win with Segu, Williams and Graves then he isn’t gonna win with this bunch. Yes in the end we finished roughly where we all expected. But this team didn’t pass the eye test. It’s about the how and why. As per usual, in his tenure I’m left saying we could’ve been and should’ve been better. As for next year, we haven’t heard a peep all season about recruiting. Nothing. That’s a concern. Yea we are returning most of the roster but that doesn’t give me much hope. We don’t have lengthy wings, no shooters and we don’t have a true PG. The longer we stay with Whitesell the further the Bulls brand name fades. And given we play in the MAC East we are looking at being the 5th best team in the conference at best. Behind Akron, Kent, Ohio and Toledo. Is 5th what everyone is happy with going forward? Whitesell isn’t the guy that’s going to get the most out of any roster. Give me someone who has P5 ambition and vision.
  4. Funny we complained about the fouls. Look at the foul calls now. Pretty even.
  5. Well Jack the hack is fouled out. Look, no doubt early on the officiating was questionable. But as the game progressed Akron has shown they just are the better team. We play too out of control for our own good. When we have bigs driving the lane dropping shoulders of course it’s going to be called a charge. We have no answer for Freeman down low. And anytime he is on the floor the game plan for Akron is obvious, post him up and let him work. He’s been drawing fouls. This is just a slow methodical beating.
  6. Coach has to realize this is how the game is going to be officiated and implement an adjustment. For example if the Akron defender is gonna sit back to flop/draw the charge the ball handler has to pull up and shot over him. Or pull up and kick. Stop forcing the issue.
  7. We have to stop driving out of control and dropping the shoulder. Enough! Trimble is hitting the floor every time and getting the call. Make the damn adjustment
  8. Does anyone know why he hasn’t played much? Highly touted recruit barely saw the floor. Just drained a 3.
  9. Bad shots usually equal run outs. This goes to our ongoing issue of bad offense leading to bad defense. Complimentary basketball. Now turnovers becoming an issue. Great basketball. No fire from the head coach trying to work officials. Curtis Jones mia again. No one getting back on defense.
  10. Maybe we will flip the switch in the second half like we did against Miami.
  11. Akron is doing a good job of cutting off driving lanes. Bc of that we can’t force fouls. They on offense are doing a good job of pounding the ball in the paint. Drawings fouls. We’ve gotta tighten up on defense. So far can’t get stops.
  12. Agree but Hardnett has no business driving from the 3 point line to the baseline like that. Reverse the ball and set up a play. Hardnett was equally out of control. Gotta play smarter. Can’t afford too many more mistakes
  13. Ohio trouncing Ball St. Kent might beat NIU by double digits, let’s hope the law of averages kicks in for our game and we pull the day 1 upset.
  14. Ball State showing exactly why we had to be the 5 seed in this tournament.
  15. Toledo looked every bit like a 1 seed today.
  16. I think by this you mean how she can implement her style with her recruits? She doesn’t have to change. She will bring her style players in that fit her schemes. Right?
  17. Did you see the tight replay? The defender hacked down completely on her wrist. Terrible call.
  18. I 100% agree. And it’s not the schools and coaches responsibility. A perfect example was Rondo Segu. Dude, for a mid major player, was a social star. Had many followers. Did he have any NIL deals? Like autograph signings. Or club appearances. Or sponsorships for local businesses. He was the perfect player to be used to market things. Yes we don’t have a booster culture that goes after players like The U does. So it falls more on the player to sell themselves in our case. Our alums don’t have deep pockets. If the players were smart they would take business classes and band together and form their own marketing/promotion agency while in school and playing ball.
  19. I’m sure he will find a decent assistant Coaching gig. He’s well respected.
