Is UB even chartering flights for interviews? It seems like a huge waste of money with the technology available today. Interview online then when they have their guy splurge for the flight in. In fact Earlier today people we’re marveling atvthe idea bama could fly Oats in via private jet.

A lot has changed even since Oats was hired. Interviews leak, or at the very least rumors surface. For instance Beilein to Niagara has been around for days before they finally announced it

This isn’t true. First, he always had the Alabama job (he got on the damn private jet lol) and second, he was liking posts after he landed based on time stamps. I honestly won’t care if we end up with someone else but I 100% believe he takes the UB job if offered. Oats himself has stated he’s waiting on the interview

That’s pretty messed up. Might be sour grapes but I don’t want Hodgson if he’s flying with Oats to Tuscaloosa. What does that say to the kids he’d be trying to keep in Buffalo?? edit: if they’re telling oats they’ll be done in a week and a half, they’ll likely have our new coach named by early next week at the latest.

Why are you so sure he didn’t have a plan? It’s not like he can interview people before the coach leaves. Who’s to say Alnutt didn’t have a list ready to go and is currently interviewing candidates?

This is why im leaning towards a known commodity with good connections. UB’s “brand” is still at an all time high. A new coach should be able to cash in on that while the iron is hot

Not surprising, but Can’t fault the kids. If Hodgson can’t stop the bleeding with the rest of the recruits I’d rather take the search national and get the most qualified guy.

Hopefully the players look around the room and see that all the talent is sitting right there if they stick together. Forlorn hope maybe, but they have the ability to keep the train moving if they want.

I like your optimism, but yes I think he was blowing smoke. Saying he’d only leave for a dream job, telling his agent not to call him etc. Sorry but when a bottom rung SEC team is a dream job then him and I have different definitions of the term. Seems like he would’ve left for any P5 gig, and of course those offers would be coming after the season UB had. Hawkins getting the offer literally hours after he took the job is just crazy and shows how ready he was for this move. I don’t harbor ill will for what happened today, just how they happened.

He had it changed to Alabama theme before it was even announced, and hasn’t said a thing aside from 30 seconds of phone interview and a small piece through the athletics department. We were sold a load of crap by him. I don’t blame him one bit for leaving for $2.4 million per season, but the way it all went down is definitely showing he was full of sh*t all this time
