  1. this basketball is barely watchable. if I weren't a fan of one of the team's I'd have changed channels long ago.
  2. What an ugly, ugly game. Missing easy shots we make every time. Thankfully Kent State seems to be bitten by the same ugly-bug.
  3. I think Satish is somewhat on board with investing in athletics. Mostly because I think he's seen over the past 5 or so years that successful basketball and football programs do wonders for national awareness of the university and will almost certainly result in recruiting benefits (for regular students). Put it this way. UB is #28 in public universities in the US. #25-30 are: Penn State, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Buffalo, Illinois-Chicago, NC State. Ask any person in the US regardless of their spots fandom and they will ALL know Penn State, NC State, VT, and Minnesota. Almost none of them will know Buffalo. The reason? Well known and regarded athletics programs. Having a successful athletics program that gets national attention is huge for recruiting students, faculty, and staff as well as building school pride which results in greater alumni donations.
  4. Graves has been amazing. Team is playing hungry. Ohio is also absolutely TERRIBLE. Also astounding how Harris has gone from leading the conference in 3PT % last year to being second worst on this team this year ahead of only Jeenathan.
  5. UB fell victim to the repuation or lack thereof of the MAC this week. Toledo was a Q1 win on the road that will help in the NET and with tournament seeding but not much with AP voters because...well...Toledo doesn't SOUND like a good win unless you follow mid-majors which most voters don't. Rename Toledo, Indiana (a team 1 behind Toledo in the NET) and the Bulls jump a couple spots. That's life as a mid-major in conference play. Wofford and Cinci are gaining votes on UB. They'll need to get a couple wins but larger margins (20+ this week) in order to keep staving them off IMO.
  6. uhh...I have. The track makes me disconnected from the game. I do not enjoy watching games there. I'm glad you do. However, many people in the community do feel this way, as you admit, and that's a problem if we want people to actually come to games.
  7. Honestly, out of all the capital projects possible for the athletics department, making changes to alumni would probably be bottom of the list. Not that it couldn't be better, but I think that money would be better spent on making the football stadium not a terrible place to watch a game, or on training/practice facilities which will help lure recruits. Top of my list would be a dedicated basketball facility for practices, training, etc. State of the art.
  8. Still here. Listen, I love this team and this season. The way i vent during horrific performances like the first half is that I post my frustrations with other fans who can identify. If you can't handle that, the forum has the option to hide my posts.
  9. Yes, but to be fair, they were slow on defense from the first whistle. I'm sure the fouls have an impact, but it's not like they came out gangbusters and have had to tone it down.
  10. Actually, they're one of the best defenses in the country.
  11. Meh. I don't care if the ref's were perfect. UB still wouldn't be close to winning. They've been baaaaaaaaad.
  12. Perkins has been, by and large, dogshit this game. Hell, he's been like this the last few weeks except the game he came off the bench in the 2nd half. Something going on with him.
  13. Meh, both teams play in front of the same refs. If you're a top 25 team you need to be able to adjust.
  14. He has time, but if Williams can't figure out that he's a too-skinny PF or SF and keeps trying to be fucking Steph Curry out there with the handles and 3s, he has no future with this program.
  15. Yup. The 2nd half of the season is showing what UB is. A very good mid-major that might be able to win a game or two in March, but probably not top 25 long term.
  16. Perkins doing well at impersonating a fucking traffic cone on defense.
  17. What really worries me is that this team has had the same issues for the last month+. Most game, same things. Too many turnovers, get cold shooting really easily, extreme swings in defensive intensity and focus...and I just haven't seen them improve on those issues much.
  18. Absolutely horrid in literally every facet. If they can't get up for this game...just the same stuff over and over.
  19. From as bad as they've played all year to maybe as good as they've played. What a rollercoaster of a game.
  20. UB generally pressuring the ball a lot on D and forcing CMU to make bad passes. That's what they need to do, because if CMU gets open looks, they WILL make them.
  21. So which team will we see in the second half? An angry one that is pissed off that CMU is disrespecting them in their own gym, especially with Austin's step over CJ? Or a team that slides back into lax defense and poor movement on offense like the 2nd half vs. BGSU?
  22. He should want to rip his team's heads off for most of that first half. Probably the worst basketball they've played in years.
  23. Paul Peck: Other than better effort, what else has changed for UB? Yes, and I'm the terrible person for bringing up effort when they're obviously in la-la land on D the last few games...
  24. Well they finally figured out there was a game today.
  25. Getting run out of our own building. I better not say the E word or people will have a meltdown though.
