  1. That was the first boom from a few days ago. There is a second boom coming. Really happy to have Lani coming in though. Will stabilize the PG position and she is relentless on D.
  2. No idea what prompted this, but Coach Stutzman has been relieved of his duties. Not sure what ADMA is thinking with this one, but I wish Coach Stutz the best. He was all class and bringing in a really good recruiting class. I'm sure he will find a job quickly, but of all UB athletics problems, wrestling wasn't one of them.
  3. Personally, I'm not worried about seniors. I would rather get juniors that we can help build for a couple years and help mentor the young guys. The reality is, we may just end up with Sabol, AJ, McVeigh and Wilson. That may be our core and I saw improvement from all of them (AJs injury was unfortunate, but I think he has a good ceiling). I think Fulcher and Zaakir are 50/50 for returning. Zaakir has been thru a lot here from the previous staff, coaching change, injuries, etc. He may just need a reset and I wouldn't blame him. I would rather have a full clean slate, no holdovers, get the guys in that the staff wants and put their system in place 100%. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. I would much rather have that than this Frankenstein we had this year, where it was clear not everyone was working off the same sheet of music. We can be successful with the right system, get some NIL in place. We have to remember, Nate Oats left 5 years ago (that was our heyday), look at what has changed since then. His model is going to be really hard to replicated with the current transfer rules, NIL, etc. Would we have been able to keep CJ and Perkins? Maybe they like Oats that much they wouldn't have left, I don't know. We do need to rally behind the group and do what we can and if we have the ability to build a comparable NIL package to other mid-majors we should be peers with, then we need to. If NIL had been around when we knocked off Arizona, don't you think we would have pulled one together pretty damn quick when the feelings were high? It wasn't, I don't think JW pushed it when it became a thing. I heard that GH3 wanted to get one going when he first got hired, but it really didn't get legs until Lembo started. We can lament the lateness, but now that it's here, we need to get on board or get left behind. **END OF RANT**
  4. I was 50/50 if he would enter. I’m perfectly fine with it and I have a feeling the staff encouraged these portal additions. I don’t believe GH3 envisioned any of these guys as building blocks moving forward.
  5. I guess they may as well grab what they can. A very small number of transferring players are going to the NBA, some may play professionally abroad. It is a shame though that the college experience is being diminished. There are definitely players in the wrong situation, I get that and they should be able to find a better fit, but i seriously doubt 800 players are in the wrong situation.
  6. Yep! All perception of what is great. Coach wins ACC Coach of the Year, Fair gets some accolades, but the core is essentially the same (Fair & Wooley still 1-2 punch). They are a year more mature, so yes they are improved, which they would have at UB. I would have expected a Sweet 16 at least, but maybe I had too high of expectations. If you can get to a Sweet 16 at UB, you should certainly be able to do it at Syracuse with a Top 10 player.
  7. I will likely be happy either way. I was thinking more close Buffalo ties, but I'm assuming also high level of talent. I'm not familiar enough with what is out there, but the one that immediately came to mind was Amari DeBerry from Williamsville, currently at UConn. She's 6'6" and would be a major difference maker in the MAC.
  8. No, but it will be interesting to see what Syracuse looks like without Fair. I know FLJ has brought in some players, but their first round of the NCAA would have been a loss, except Fair outscored the opponent 13-3 by herself to end the game. They made it exactly as far as they likely would have had they all stayed in the MAC.
  9. Another Boom for BB! She says Bulls fans are going to LOVE this one! Can’t wait!
  10. Thank you. We will see how it goes. Knees on basketball players are always tough
  11. I'm not seeing any stats from last season. Was he injured or just stuck on the bench? His freshman year he played 101 minutes and 2.6 ppg and 1.5 rpg. 4-star recruit apparently at one time. This is yet another reason why I'm not worried about the stars our recruits receive. Arguably our best player in program history was a late add out of Texas with 0 Division 1 offers, but I would take his heart and desire to win over anyone. He made those around him better.
  12. My recommendation for you would be to just leave the board like many others and then come back when we are competing for a championship. It will be easier for everyone.
  13. We will agree to disagree. I hope you can find a new roommate when Adams moves to his next school.
  14. The grass there was a dark brown. He can come back to UB and be an accountant again since Davidson didn't even have his major.
  15. My argument is that from the time he stepped foot on the court this season, he was out to put up whatever numbers he could regardless of what that meant to the team or the win column. I think he was a turnover machine. I think that once AJ and Sabol started having some growth in their game he intentionally did not pass them the ball. I believe his defense was non-existent. If a player will not buy in to a coaches philosophy, the coach can either suck up a lost season or bench them completely. In hindsight, I wouldn't be surprised if GH3 chose the benching. However, he has hours of video to show his future teams as to how NOT to play team basketball. As to your total minutes item, he averaged 33 mpg this year and 29.7 mpg last year. He missed several games due to injury, so he would likely have surpassed that. I only mention that as you seem to be implying that GH3 failed to not play him enough this year. 22.8% on 3-Pointers with 149 attempts is deplorable for a Senior.
  16. Just to be clear, you are arguing that he wasn't a disappointment and that it was in fact the coaching staff that let him down?
  17. You took the words right out of my mouth. Unselfish players will be the key. They need to act as one on offense and defense.
  18. Let's be honest, if the transfer rules of today were in place when GH3 took over, Adams, Sy and Jo would all have been gone. They figured they may as well stay and do whatever they wanted like the JW system worked versus having to sit out a year. It didn't work, and the odds of it actually working were low. They were really not made for system basketball, so we got to see no system basketball because there were not enough players to buy in. Neither players nor staff adapted so what we got was a 3 win team.
  19. I wouldn't mind another PG option with good handles and passing ability. I think we have enough scoring, but in addition to our rebounding issues, the press was not our friend. I think Lopez will do well, but we need some assistance as well.
  20. There should be a Liberty/GCU rivalry matchup every year.
  21. Coach is familiar with conference so that’s a benefit too.
  22. Gotta like that! There is something to be said for learning how to win and how it feels, regardless of level. Let's hope it carries to Buffalo with him!
