  1. Finally playing with intensity from the tip! Love to see it! Good ball movement as well. I like Mballa attacking the rim
  2. You’re exactly right. It’s the thing that bothers me the most about this team. The lack of tenacity that they play with. Why not play hard from the jump?
  3. I disagree, despite all that it’s a single digit game against a very good Bonnies game
  4. Way too much negativity. Despite shooting poorly, no contribution from Nate, and getting out rebounded we’re right in this game! We’ve held onto the ball vs a great defensive team, on their court! The rebounding numbers will even out, shots will start to fall, and Nate will get his. We’ll pull this game out in the second half
  5. Wish I could find a group of tickets. Would love to make the trip
  6. Just saw that, 27th in the AP. Hopefully by the end of the year, even with a loss to us, they’ll finish in the top 25
  7. I think it depends on what you mean by actual coaching. Neither Hurley nor Oats were a head coach at the Collegiate level prior to UB. I don’t think that’s a prerequisite for getting the position. If you’re a basketball mind, have good energy, connect with your players, and recruit well you can be a damn good head coach.
  8. We’re currently going down the Hurley coaching tree. Hurley to Oats to Whitesell. The benefit of that is continuity of style and the retaining of players, which is ideal for a mid major. If we have continued success, I believe that it makes sense to continue that continuity. Either with somebody on the staff or, I know this is an unpopular decision but my personal front runner, Hodgson. Even if we were to fall down the CBB hierarchy, I still don’t think the options above are out the window. Reason being, I don’t believe that the issue is the style that we play. I believe that the issue would, in that situation, be coaching. But let’s say that we don’t see a good option on the current staff or in Hodgson. Why did we choose Hurley? It seems to me that although he didn’t have a coaching pedigree, he had a top tier basketball pedigree. He had a vision for playing a fun brand of basketball. And on top of that, and maybe most importantly, he coached with intensity and had the ability to connect with his players. I think those are the qualities that we need to look for in next coach. Regardless of why this coach is being hired.
  9. While I do believe that the talent is there, there is something that is very odd about this team. I don’t know if it’s lack of leadership, coaching, or cohesiveness, but I have yet to see them play a full 40 min game hard. They seem to lack fire until they need to turn it on. And that irritates me. It’s the one thing, above all, that I used to love watching this team play. The grit, the defensive intensity. They don’t seem to know where teammates are or are planning on going. Which is why turnovers are so prevalent. Going in to the season I had incredibly high expectations for this team, but in both wins and losses they’ve seemed lack luster. And unless there’s a gut check from coaching and senior leadership I don’t know if that’s going to change. Although, I hope that I’m wrong and they wipe the floor with the Bonnies and everyone else in the MAC!
  10. I, unfortunately, don’t think that our high usage of isolation basketball is going to be conducive for winning basketball games. Especially when our efficiency is middle of the pack. Superb ball movement leading to open shots for Segu, Williams, and Jack would be ideal.
  11. Kentucky is now 10th while Michigan is 20th in the latest AP poll
  12. Let me be clear. This is not being created to bash Whitesell, nor is it asking for him to be removed as head coach. Personally, I believe that he should be given the next two years, minimally. Merely, I am not familiar with our assistant coaches and was hoping that some of you guys, who may have opinions on this, would be able to provide me who you feel, on the staff, would be best to continue the program if Whitesell were no longer Head Coach. As well as why you feel that individual is right for the job. Look forward to reading the responses!
  13. UNT looked like the hungrier team that half. Out rebounding us. They move the ball well on offense too. One thing we don’t do great. They’re forcing Williams right which is neutralizing him. Need to make some adjustments in the second half, otherwise we’re in trouble. We’re the more talented team but they definitely outplayed us in the first half
  14. Mballa has to stop jacking up 3’s. If he’s open and it’s in rhythm, awesome. But he has consistently tried to create his own shot. That’s not his skillset. Catch the ball at the free throw line, make a quick move, and get to the rim
  15. Jack is a poor perimeter defender. That’ll be a problem this year. Hopefully he makes up for it with his 3 point shooting
  16. I tell you what, you really miss a Perkins in a game like this. He had the quickness to switch and would be strong enough to move Dick off the low block
  17. They’re just faster than we are. Look at Michigan’s offensive sets in comparison to ours. Night and day.
  18. Looks like we’re having a difficult time switching on D. Lack of communication. Jack is slow laterally too. I hope he’s not a detriment on defense.
  19. Camp’s passing may have the thing that I noticed most at the game. What court vision
  20. Was at the game. Wow. They looked incredible. They played with tenacity the entire game. They never let up! They’re going to be a fun team to watch. I’m expecting big things
  21. Zed Key with the game winner. We recruited him right?
