UBinMD
Kent State jumps out to an early 7 point lead, hits (5) 3-pointers but UB finishes down 6 after the 1st quarter. Needs some better perimeter D and hitting better shots. We should be able to stay in this one.
promotherobot
Just an awful performance so far. Terrible shot selection, awful ball security and no hustle on rebounds.
UBinMD
Really embarrassing effort at home to start conference play. We are a really poor shooting team. If you don’t at least hustle and play D, this is what you get.
UBinMD
We can’t even make layups, good lord. Giving up 11-13 from 3 for Kent St

Seemed like everything there was challenge by the player to do all the things to lose a game leave shooters open, poor communication, weak passes, feeble box outs, poor shot selection or not shooting. And once the hole was dug turn everything on its head and almost win. For the first time in a while Lewis-Williams played like freshman. Inconsistent with securing the ball 5TOs. Only taking 3 shots the entire game as the secondary scorer. Freshman Davis had by far her best game of the year when the ball went to her after halftime. Ogden’s and Rana’s inconsistent shooting was agin on display.Rana did make a few 3s the second half but Ogden was 2-13 1/9 3p The other two freshmen guards Wangolo and Lopez played tough defense when they got in the game during second half. Neither had a offensive impact but the communication picked up when they were in Watson made this is a respectable game but counting on daily 30pt performances is not ideal. If they only put together 3 decent quarters this could have been a come from behind win. Young team they have a quick turnaround game on the road Saturday can only hope they flush this one and get ready for CMU

Figured Kent coaching staff knew how to defend from watching film. Kent players doubled and pressured Watson and Lewis-Williams and she never adjusted and Watson was able to adjust somewhat and had a better second half. Davis did have a good game on the boards but she was the only one. Do not understand why Coach Burke does not get Ogden to play under and around the basket to help with the rebounding. Ogden again in a funk with her shooting. Looks like we will continue to have a tough time with many of the other MAC teams. Also the defensive effort in the first half was not good with no pressure on Kent from the three point line. They did play better defense on the perimeter in the 2nd half but if UB’s shooting does not improve it could be a long year. Hope this coaching staff can make adjustments now that they have film on how many of these MAC teams will play us. If Davis gets in foul trouble we don’t have any other player with any low post presence. To UB’s credit they came out in the second half and played better on both ends of the floor.
