  1. You think UB was interviewing replacements for Mo before Alabama even played Michigan in the semifinal? Since you're the most identity-obsessed poster here, care to give your review of Mo's time here? Or does that not fit your narrative?

  2. I believe the direction college sports is taking might make me lose interest. The frequent turnover, with players transferring to different schools every year, doesn't sit well with me. While I understand the idea of leaving if the coach departs or is fired, or if you want to play your last year as a graduate student at a new school, I'm not a fan of players switching to three schools in four years or utilizing a seventh year of eligibility. If we lose Boldin and Sabol, I'm probably going to just watch the pros but maybe that is just me.

  3. Is our lack of a Raising Cane's hurting our recruiting? My 24 page analysis will be finalized shortly

  4. Any good coach at a lower level should seriously consider Buffalo. We have resources, getting a new Performance Center and let's be honest, the MAC is not a tough conference and is winnable, which could put them back on the map and then get poached like LL, Oats, etc. It's not that far in the past. Just my thoughts.

  5. Watson (77.4%) and Rana (87.9%) are pretty solid. Ogden is ok at 70%. Davis (56.9%) and KLW (64.8%) need to continue to improve on that. This stat, however, doesn't show the lost opportunities of the missed front end of 1 and 1s, which really leaves a lot of points on the court. Our inside presence is really starting to do well, so they are going to get to the line a lot and we need to cash on.

  6. I’m really hoping we go the Leipold route and hire a lower division head coach that has had success. Like other posters have said, our best seasons in history have been with coaches from that mold (experience with winning as a head coach). Really not much to add on what other posters have said, I just really think a lower level successful head coach is the way to go I would be really disappointed if we hired Polian, seems like such an uninspired hire, a mediocre if not downright bad coach at Nevada and couldn’t even hang onto a special teams coordinator spot at LSU.

  7. I hope it's Jim Zebrowski or Dino Barbers

  8. Coach Mo probably tripled his salary. Set himself up to take a better job in three years if 'Bama does well. Recruiting class was one of the worse on paper. We haven't improved in any areas, IMO

  9. Starting to get a feeling they picked Polian weeks ago and all the unsolicited "HEY WHAT ABOUT BRIAN POLIAN?" tweets are just his idiot St. Francis friends trying to drum up support He's white and Catholic, so I'm sure UB Horns Up will be creaming himself UB Basketball and Football both coached by nepo babies - what a world

  10. This reminds me of when Lance was hired. I was playing golf with a fellow who is in the Michigan HS Hall of Fame as a coach. I asked him if he thought a D3 guy could make the transition to FBS successfully. His answer, "A good coach will always be a good coach". I vote for option 2 mentioned previously.

  11. I think if we keep Boldin and Sabol that's a great look for GH3. At the same time if we lose one or both of them, it's not something I'd place solely on GH3 because it's the nature of college sports and the mid-major life right now. Normally, I'd say it's a bit unfair to give someone credit but not place the blame on them if it goes the other way, so I see the fault in my logic in this. My best guess as it stands now is Boldin will be gone and Sabol will be here for another year, have a Curtis Jones type sophomore season, and then transfer.

  12. My preference is #2. We have good resources compared to where they are coming from, so that should be a step up and they have proven to be able to build a program and win. I'm not ready to go with the untested guy again and just a coordinator/position coach. Oats was a successful HS head coach that won, LL was a successful DIII coach that won. Hurley changed our mentality as a program, but wasn't a great coach. His contribution was bringing in Oats. FLJ was a failed D1 coach who came in, learned from her previous issues and took that program to another level. In our recent history and the most successful time in UB history, the coaches are proven winners in the #1 seat.

  13. Btw, I have it on good authority that Brian Polian almost landed the Bowling Green Head Coaching job before Scot Loeffler got the position. Polian was one of their top candidates. So if he was interested in BGSU, I'd think he'd be willing to come back home. He's obviously the son of Bill Polian. Grew up in Buffalo, attended Saint Francis High School. Has been an assistant on UB twice, was the head coach at Nevada and Special Teams Coordinator at Notre Dame and LSU. He's a person that would take the job and stay here to turn things around for the long haul in my opinion.

  14. I think Maurice Linguist leaving is a saving grace for UB. It's pretty clear he wasn't going to turn things around heading into next season. He was most likely going to have another disappointing season and possibly fired. Now, he can claim he left on his own terms to join a historic program and re-build his resume to possibly get another head coaching job down the line.

  15. You're right that it didn't take 5-6 "offers" since a few coaches outright told them they weren't interested before that point.
