  1. Gabe Grant and Antwain Johnson had some contributions today.
  2. I love the athleticism from this team. When CMU closed in the second half, UB just stepped it up. They have to bring the same effort against Toledo.
  3. Much needed. Now keep it going. One game at a time.
  4. Central gets to the foul line and they shoot extremely well from there. A good 3 point shooting team but below average from 2. Their defense is also below average. The Bulls should outreound the Chippewas. Bulls 90 Chippewas 83
  5. I look at Mballa as kind of a Mitchell Watt with a mean streak. I don’t mean that he’s a psycho or anything. He just looks like he hates losing, he hates getting called for a foul, he has a swagger when he swats one. He has to improve his foul shooting, and a decent outside shot would be gravy.... he’s got a ways to go, but I would be surprised, if he isn’t the Bulls’ guy to go to in the not too distant future.
  6. In other words, the Bulls play incredibly bad up tempo. Yes, I’m with you on that.
  7. 1. Bulls are turning it over 13.5 times per game in conference thus far vs 12.4 per game last year in conference for the entire regular season. 2. Playing for themselves - totally subjective. 3. Agree that they chuck them - air balls, clunkers, and to be fair - several in and outers. They rely on the 3, but are poor shooters. They lack height - they are a short team, and yet they convert over 50% of their two point attempts. But they continue to take more than 34% of their field goal attempts from 3 in conference (hitting 28.6%). Not good. 4. Bulls are ranked first after 10 games per kenpom in tempo in conference. Perhaps they should consider slowing it a bit because uptempo is chaos for them so far in a bad way. 5. Totally unacceptable. 6. Agree. Hope Mballa fills the void. 7. I would give Whitesell one, at most two more years to straighten the ship. Another coaching change at this point would inevitably mean another major shake up of the roster. Alnutt’s indecisiveness in the transition process handicapped Whitesell in his his ability to recruit and stymied any chance of stemming the exodus of recruits who had already committed to UB.
  8. Didn’t see the game, and after reading the comments here and looking at the box score I don’t plan to watch it. Trying to squeeze some positives out of another loss: Bulls won yet another battle on the boards. Grant had a good game - at least on offense. Mballa is going to be a really special player. If he ever develops an outside shot, he is going to be an absolute beast. Got to get ready for Friday and bounce back in convincing fashion.
  9. Game should be another nail biter with many turnovers. I think the Bulls will turn it over less often than E Michigan. The Bulls have shown games where they are great from the foul line. Hope this is one of them.
  10. Statistically, Jordan (38.5%) or Segu (36.5%) are the top sharpshooters from 3. If Jordan gets it, they foul him...not good for UB. By default, Segu should be their first choice. Here are the percentages for other Bulls from 3: Williams - 29.3%, Johnson - 26.6%, Grant - 25%. (Graves is currently 34.8% ). In conference at the half way point the Bulls rank 10th in 3 point and free throw percentage.
  11. Graves was anointed “Player of the Game” by the in-house announcer with 4 minutes remaining in a close game - a game that had J Turner consistently scoring at will down the stretch. It’s as absurd as it can get. Graves actually had a very good game, but who pays the people who make these silly announcements? I’m going to the O St game at Mich on Tuesday with my daughter. She assures me that it will have considerable annoying, pointless noise and silliness in addition to the actual game.
  12. I don’t see the Bulls winning it all. It could happen, but the odds are remote. There are at least 4 teams that have a better chance, but not a single team is so intimidating that it couldn’t fall flat in its first playoff game in Cleveland. Lot of parity this year.
  13. Jordan has shortcomings - epically poor at the foul line, has a tendency to get out of control with the ball, but he plays relentlessly on defense, is shooting 38.5% from 3 (tops among UB) and 50.4% from 2 (third best). His assist rate per kenpom is currently 101st in DI. Flawed? Sure, but he hasn’t failed in all respects IMO.
  14. When Huger had BG foul Jordan in the backcourt, I thought it was brilliant - it didn’t look so great when Williams got the rebound off the miss, but he was fouled and also missed the front end of the 1and1.
  15. Bulls 8 blocks and big edge in rebounds. Only took seven 3 point shots. Keep it up. No letdown. Whitesell doing a masterful job of rotating players.
  16. It doesn’t matter squat who the favorite or the underdog is. Have faith in the coaches and their game plan, and hope the players execute it. Game should be close. A large and noisy crowd can’t hurt. Go Bulls!
  17. ESPN+ carries ESPNU for me. But I am a Spectrum cable customer. Not sure if a ESPNU game would be blocked, if I didn’t have cable. When I go to Apple TV and use the ESPN app, I see the whole gamut of games, including ESPNU.
  18. ESPN+ costs about $2.50 a month with a 2 yr subscription. I watch a ton of college basketball games that would be otherwise unavailable, so it’s worth it to me.
  19. Akron entered the game shooting 47% from 3 in conference games. Bulls held them to under 27%. Bulls kicked their ass on the boards and shot extremely well from the free throw line. They won by 3. What does this show? This is going to be a grind. Every game is up for grabs. The Bulls will be competitive in every one. Bowling Green is here on Friday. I hope the students are back because the Bulls can use all the help they can get. Go Bulls!
  20. Care to elaborate? Mballa has 5 TOs. Brock none.
