  1. Lucky for UB they have a Q1 and a pair of Q2 games left on the schedule then. I’m assuming your not predicting they lose all three? edit. I guess those numbers depend on which metric you use.
  2. If the voters watched our previous 3 games, UB would of been dropping, not rising in the polls. The ‘bias’ works both ways.
  3. anyone registered on ASU’s message board? Large pop that I think could be swayed to vote Oats. Pretty sure Nate has Hurley’s vote.
  4. Victor could see out of the back of his head? All those times I gave him bunny ears and thought I was so slick... seriously though, I don’t remember our mascot ever in full buffalo horn ramming position which I can only assume that would be for.
  5. Thx, sometimes people post something so outlandish I don’t bother taking the time to even respond but putting fake news to bed is important.
  6. This week is tough to predict. Normally I’d think a week when UB didn’t play on the road you’d see at best to hold, maybe a small drop. But some teams did leave the door open. My guess, 18. Hope I’m too pessimistic.
  7. UVA, Duke, Mich, MichSt, Zaga, Tenn, VT, TT, Kansas, UNC. That’s 10 teams right there that even if UB won out, they would have to fall on their faces for multiple weeks straight for UB to ever pass in the rankings. I’d put UB’s ceiling at 12 with everything going perfectly.
  8. I’d like Oats to challenge Williams to record an assist before he attempts a shot each game. Think it could do wonders getting him to fit in more with the culture/style of the team.
  9. Torvik, the ranking I put the most stock in, finally has UB crack the top 25 at 17! USF 22, Marquette 34, Cuse 43, WVU 75, Ball St 63, Toledo 67
  10. Thx again for providing another media avenue of coverage. Do you get to ask questions in the post game pressers (yet?). Don’t know how these things work. Since you promote here, can we give question suggestions?
  11. Definitely need to stay on the shooters. In the first half of the Marquette game with Howard out we let the brothers still get looks at three which killed us. A point in the game when their offensive catalyst was out and a team with only 2 other options we still let them get open looks. Toledo is a bit different, in that they shoot the 3 1-5 where Marq had just 3 shooters but the defensive theory is the same, limit help, stay on your man. And if the guy your guarding has 5 inches on you, deny the ball!
  12. Eastern Michigan is actually one of the easier road trips in the MAC. Outside of Akron and Kent every school is further. Pretty sure we bus to most. what happened to JT4? Can anyone else think of a 4 year starter that got worse every year? He went from looking like a NBA player as a frosh to a player that is an afterthought on the offense on a team that needs offense. Weird.
  13. Very unMAC like 5 road wins. The conference cannabalism off to an early start.
  14. Rest of the conference gets started today. Should be interesting how the middle of the pack sorts out. Game I’m most interested in is Central going into Oxford. I expect a home sweep with the East staying perfect vs the West.
  15. “Nobody cares about a game against Canisius! Myself included! And I’m going to post 10 times in this thread to prove it to you!” Your swimming in a river in Africa my friend. My fellow UB fans, keep wanting more, holding the powers at be to increasingly lofty goals, continue laying the foundation for a growing and loyal fan base, etc. But please don’t turn into douchebags ala Syracuse fans.
  16. Penn is beat up right now. If they get healthy it will still go down as a good win.
  17. I liked the bracket buster to an extent, but in the end of the day it was just a way for the best mid majors to cannabolize each other. As far as the all mighty dollar, NCAA’s true god goes, basketball is the one sport they need the smaller programs. I can see football’s top division breaking in two. The P5s don’t need the G5s for interest or money. An NCAA tourney made up of just the power programs would not net the NCAA their billions they currently enjoy. Nor the fan interest and broad spectrum appeal. If the small schools were cut out, and your end of the season tourney had half the teams with barely winning records or worse, would you watch the opening weekend? If the new version of a Cinderella was 16-18 Purdue? A 12-22 Pittsburg? Would a P6 fan pay top dollar for regular season tickets knowing the pool for the tourney took 64 of 90 teams? Small schools need to use their weight in the only sport where they have it. In the FBS, the G5 sold out any chance of winning anything for 1 million dollars a school. I think the basketball side can ask for a few home games.
  18. I would want the NCAA to identify preseason, potential teams across the country who have the highest probability of being bubble teams and use this control over 1/7th of their total schedule to give them a better measuring stick and get programs who can’t find home games a couple in the process. When they snubbed st Mary there was backlash in the sports media. They went from AP top 25 to snub. This would help the selection committee enforce their bias just as often as it forces their hands in the Mid major direction, at least this way it is decided on the court. Don’t see how it would hurt UB, please explain.
  19. So no thoughts on the NCAA taking control of a third of the on conference scheduling. Got it.
  20. The Lansing reporter who refused to rank teams until they played a true road game got me thinking (I fully realize this was a click bait operation, but did bring further to light the problem.) let me know your thoughts so preconference scheduling is basically 5-6 weeks. Finals and schools running tri vs quads do make things a little problematic but not overwhelming. 1st, schools apply and set up invite, neutral tournaments. NCAA funnels all of these into 2 predetermined weeks. A school can only participate in one of the 2 leaving roughly 4 open weeks. 2nd, each school uses two weeks to fill out their own schedule. They can buy all home games, gimmes, travel for their seniors on the road to get them the family game, anything they want. Schedule up/down, home/away, your choice. 3rd, now the NCAA has 2 weeks of games they decide. Let’s say 5 games a year. They will do their best to keep things as regional and local as possible. Odd years, half of D1 gets 3 home 2 away, next year the other half gets the same. Here is where things can be evened out. From a UB playing SU for example. SU knows the NCAA will probably force the matchup. They can buy the game and insure it is at home during step 2, or can roll the dice and maybe wind up playing in Buffalo. UB also assumes that the matchup will be chosen by the NCAA, they can either a) when SU calls ask for way more money, or b) roll the dice and hope the powers at be send SU here. As far as paying for the NCAA scheduled games, the visiting teams send the bill to the host, no profit, just cost of travel. Hence why location will also be prioritized by the NCAA, UB will never be paying for a California school to fly here. problems: obviously this gives the NCAA a bit of power in the SOS department, especially for MidMajors, there would need to be a prerelease of the schedule to give teams feeling robbed a quick appeal process before officially releasing the schedule to the public. A panel made of ADs across the spectrum would need oversight, maybe entirely new panel each year. Also the BIG10 and any other conference who plays 20 game conference schedules would have to bite into their freedom of scheduling quite a bit and I’m not sure what level of protest they would amass but we all know how much pull they have. Anyway, thoughts?
  21. Don’t give your money to SU. The dome is probably the worst venue I have ever seen a basketball game in. Great if you doing a study in male pattern baldness of the collegiate athlete tho. Find some friends and force a Buffalo bar to put the volume on. You’ll enjoy the game more and maybe gain the team some fans.
  22. How do you knock Atlanta as a sports town? Their soccer team outdraws the Bills.
  23. “discovered the quality of our academic programs” made me laugh. I always thought the school was bankrupt and just a cover for elaborate postal scams. Isn’t their med program based on leaches and prayer?
  24. If highest mid season for some reason is more important to you, Bowling Green made it up to #7 during the 62’ season. They finished #8. They stated at #8 in the preseason poll that year as well.
  25. Just off the top of my head Kent st ended at 12 after their elite 8 run.
