They play in a high school gym much like Canisius and Niagara but not as nice. It can get loud because the ceiling is about 40 ft from ground level. A nice spot for a gym in Bolivar or some such out of the way town but not for a legit college basketball program.

S what are the keys for the Bulls to win tonight? We all know they can, that's why they play the game; but imo I think they'll need to shoot 50% from the field, 40%+ from 3, play rock solid defense, not get beat in transition, get out in transition for 10+ easy points and hit their free throws. In other words I think there isn't much of a margin for error tonight as Akron has played well in pretty much every game this year.

Eff Akron and their obnoxious fans. Their sense of entitlement is beyond compare. With that said it’s pretty clear they and BG are the clear top 2 teams in conference. Toledo beat them by shooting lights out in a shoot out. Our guys will need to be sharp from deep and Jordan will have to get back to his MAC defensive player of the year play which is asking a lot when so much else Is being asked of him.

What stood out last night was the number of times including as the clock wound down late in the game where we had some momentum, a chance to take the lead and maintain that momentum Jayvon tried to take charge and missed shots some of which I thought were ill advised like a quick 3 from the top of the key.

We had significant trouble with their size, length and athleticism. Jordan was 0 for first half, Mballa, Graves, Johnson all struggled mightily around the offensive hoop.

Extremely lackadaisical first half by everyone from coaches to players. Shot 29% from the field(Jordan 0 for the first half), 6 assists to 13 turnovers will not cut it. Need a helluva lot more intensity and focus in second half

A comment from a fan of the only high school in the conference, Akron middle and senior hs, “ kreed5120 1,389 Posted 14 minutes ago Pinky benched his entire starting lineup for the start of the game. Buffalo starters were getting outplayed by Kent's bench. Both these teams suck.”

That’s what happens when you don’t play with intensity or focus.

Can't tell you how many students I've seen arrive early get their give away and then leave even before the game starts.

Great memories. And after that buffoonish pre game demonstration where they were more concerned with the cheerleaders than playing the game it made it all the sweeter.

13-6 sounds pretty good especially with some very bad losses. A lot to clean up. Shooting again was sub par. But got out and ran after missed shots and turnovers for transition baskets. Segu needs to be a pass first guard and be judicious with his shots. He had a nice step back for a two in the lane off the dribble but otherwise was a drag on the team tonight. Our defense against their screen game was poor. Too many fouls, pick and rolls and open threes. It seems like the players just are not sure how they should defend. Williams in particular found himself in no mans land.

Great penetration dribble by Williams and kick to Segu for the 3! Now that’s what I’m talking about!!!!! And just before that great pass by him to Mballa to break down the zone. Excellent!

My sense of the guys on the team is that they want theirs before passing the ball. It seems to me that guys just hold onto the ball a split second too long before passing. With the delay the defense can catch up and gain better defensive positioning. Most blatant example Segu getting the ball at foul line extended, he had a somewhat open shot but faked to make pass to Graves at top of key with absolutely no one around him. Unfortunately Segu clanked it.

Who knows where this team is going. We’ve seen it all; the good, bad and the ugggggly. The hope is always there. Yesterday’s defensive effort is encouraging. But CMU has never been the gold standard in the MAC. That challenge lies ahead with Akron high school, Toledo, BG, Can’t and perhaps one or two more since we’ve already lost to NI and BSU.

Didn’t see the game. I saw him play in hs. I was unimpressed. He was slow. He wasn’t very good off the dribble. He wasn’t a good defender. But I have to say I was shocked by how he skimmed down, got himself in great shape, became so much quicker and his shot improved significantly. I don’t know where he’s going. But he’s come a long long way.

What's not to love? He is a great recruiter, motivator and coach. Many people like the former diminutive coach for Akron Keith Dambrot said you could not win at UB. Oats proved all the naysayers wrong. A lot of people have said the same thing about Alabama. If he wins there he will be regarded as one of the top coaches in America.

Miami downed Kent tonight so only one MAC team still undefeated and that is Akron high school. They’re blowing the doors off NI. Turner has returned for BG so those two will be strong. It’ll be interesting for sure this year

You’ve gotta be excited about Williams potential. Just a studly offensive performance tonight. However, his defensive game still needs to improve drastically.

Nice bucket by Johnson. But would it not have been better to give up the ball to a teammate for an uncontested basket. The man has glue on his fingers when he gets the ball.

The lack of awareness of what Ohio is doing by the off the ball defenders is astounding. Just played 24 seconds of great D then they fell asleep and let Preston walk in for basically an uncontested layup. I don’t envy Whitesell having to coach these guys on defense. And Williams is a weak defender. He has lazy feet. But his inside game is leaps and bounds better than last year. If he he can develop a pull up J of gets consistent in his 3 ball watch out!

Really bad decision not to give Jordan the ball after his rebound but it worked out with him going coast to coast for the bucket. Hamilton and Conner started hitting their stride about now.
