  1. Christie did not have a boot on during the Dartmouth game.
  2. CMU's OOC typically consists of CYO Basketball squads, local community colleges, Mt. Pleasant High School, and if they're really feeling ballsy maybe a D2 or NAIA squad. This year they really stepped up their scheduling.
  3. I forgot the exact year but the last time NIU beat us in AA was shortly after the turn of the century
  4. Brock and Fagan are practicing today per @UBCourtside
  5. I think they have an intern or somebody on staff count or estimate the number of people.
  6. Amazingly CMU has a better NCSOS on Kenpom than us, which is quite the break from the past 7 or so years when they would consistently be in the lowest decile of D1. My hypothesis is that at some point the Mt. Pleasant CYO and junior varsity high school basketball teams said enough is enough.
  7. It's like that for every big game. Last Bona game we had here was on a Saturday and it took forever to get out. Certain lots should be right turn only when leaving like the Stadium lot. I think we're a bit limited on what can be done on the concession stand side, but on a positive note we do accept credit cards. Also not sure if everybody knows but there are concessions and two men's and two women's restrooms upstairs.
  8. I don't know enough about some of the individual competitor sports (track, swimming, etc) but for the others: Baseball (RIP): 46-40 all time, but we suck and dropped the sport Bona, I guess Men's Soccer (RIP): 24-9-3 all time, see above Buffalo Women's Soccer: 16-14-2 all time, we lost this year, recently we won more than we lost Push Men's Tennis: 39-19 all time, haven't lost to Bona since 08-09 but haven't played them recently. Bona also hasn't had a winning season in a decade or more. Buffalo Women's Tennis: 16-21 all time, but Bona hasn't won since 2000, and hasn't won a match since 2015 (3 straight 7-0 shutouts) Buffalo Softball: 20-15 all time, both schools are pretty bad but we're a little less bad Buffalo Volleyball: our media guide doesn't list an all time record but we dominate the series and Bona dropped volleyball
  9. Funny you say that. Our softball team is terrible and we destroyed them last year, and split the series in 2013. We're 20-15 against them all time, despite our softball team playing in a lake and having zero resources. Maybe you're reading my comments as an insult. I'll leave you to decide how to interpret my comments and motivations. Last I checked, the MAAC doesn't have any Final Four teams or NIT Champions (though they do have 1 or 3 runner ups, depending on if you count MAAC schools before they joined).
  10. The part of your post that's missing: Both men’s and women’s basketball teams. Bona ladies have only won h2h in 2015-16, and even then UB might have pulled out a win if they played at the end of the season. Don't think UB has been clearly better than Bona men over the past 5 years. It's been close as you point out. However you cannot discount that UB won in a one bid league. A slip up in March means a full season's worth of work sends the team to the NIT or worse. A hot performance gives the underdogs a chance to make history. UB women were a "last 4" in and made the Sweet 16 a few years back, and last year may have been in the WNIT if they didn't win the conference. They came within striking distance of upsetting UConn and heading back to the Sweet 16. Don't like the rules, drop down to a one bid conference. The MAAC would be eager to bring in a school with such a prestigious athletic and academic pedigree as St. Bonaventure.
  11. The stuff from my freshman year doesn’t fit anymore...yikes...I had the newer true blue shirt on. We heard that down near us too. I got his number wrong too (I thought it was 32, oops) but it was closer than 34. To be fair, I didn’t grow up around here and didn’t know OJ as a football player (and not an alleged murderer) until later in life than I should have. I also didn’t scream it at the top of my lungs at an opponent when it is completely irrelevant.
  12. Are they promoting from within? Off the top of my head, Fox is DOBO but seems to have more of a role than a typical DOBO normally has.
  13. It sucks to admit it, but the better they are, the better it is for Big 4 hoops. You would not have gotten 6k people in AA for UB-SBU if the Bonnies were pulling single digit wins like they were just over 10 years ago. Bonnies fans wouldn't want to watch their team lose, and we don't exactly get a huge crowd when we play teams like Coppin St unless it's a Friday night or Saturday game. Of course, I wish their success is overshadowed by our success, and it would be funny if they lose to other Little 3 programs here and there. Which it appears to be headed that way. Completely agree. I do not know how Lofton only had one D1 offer, he's insanely good. Reminds me of CJ Massinburg. If he holds true to the Massinburg comparison, he'll be hard to beat the next two years. It's been discussed over and over by the former Buffalo News talking heads. It comes down to a few things. -Football makes more money even in our shitty stadium than the remainder of the other athletics programs combined. There is little reason to drop football or go independent at this time. -We do not fit culturally or academically with the majority of A-10 members. We don't fit well in the MAC either, but the MAC is all public universities at the very least. -We can schedule Little 3 schools in OOC for the majority of sports, which we do. -The MAC is improving in basketball. Last year Toledo might have had a shot at an at large bid, and the conference would have had an at large bid if we lost in the MAC Tournament. On the women's side, we've been a two bid league recently, and last year the third "bid" was one of the first four out. -More realistically is to build up our budget and program to the AAC as @UB05 mentioned. The travel would suck and we would be the only flagship in the conference with UConn departing, but the schools are much closer to UB in terms of size, culture, and academics than the MAC or A-10.
  14. I saw this, and wanted to leave it alone, but now that it's here... Find me one place where Bonaventure is ranked higher or more selective than UB. One. It's okay to admit that you paid more for a less prestigious degree. How many people have we put in space? How many Nobel Laureates have we had teach here? How many Fortune 500 CEOs are part of our alumni base?
  15. How absolutely fucked would we be if Mballa did not get a waiver to play this year? He is a core part of this team, especially on defense. Great win by "Geneseo's safety school" now let's take care of MAC play and Cleveland.
  16. This is still amazing for WBB. If you look back at photos taken early in FLJ's career at UB the stands are empty. I'd love to see people need to sit in the 300's for WBB games, but it's going to take some time. FLJ built a culture of winning out of nothing.
  17. On a non-game specific note, Coach Jack needs 4 wins to be the all time winningest WBB coach (number of wins) in UB history. Can possibly get it at home in January against BG or EMU.
  18. I give them the final four because that’s actually impressive, though it was only three wins to get there (whereas now you need a minimum of 4). The hype that they have over an NIT championship 50 years ago is insane. I don’t see Niagara parading around the 1972 NIT runner ups.
  19. Dartmouth came out with a full court press with less than a minute left. If they're playing hard in garbage time, we can too. Don't think Coach Jack was too happy with that last play, however I understood why she did it. That being said, Fair was within striking distance of a triple double, and just missed a double double by one rebound. Though she takes a ton of shots, she does a decent job on defense and getting shots set up for her teammates.
  20. Hopefully they have upgraded the "locker rooms" and stream since the inaugural classic.
  21. Hey don’t you forget who won the NIT in 1805. They wave that banner high.
  22. As long as it isn't the Cayman "Fyre Fest" Classic...
  23. The same Twitter account RTed an account that called UB a safety school for Geneseo. Not the brightest bulb on the tree hahaha
