  1. It is easy to look like you have a killer instinct when you have a team filled with power conference level talent. The talent on last year's team was a step well above the MAC. And even they suffered two losses in the MAC.
  2. Just play the game as a unit and they will roll to a win.
  3. It's funny how I literally offered praise for him and you can't admit that one thing he did was a complete failure. Who here is the one that is sensitive?
  4. Got it. You call them the team the New York Bulls and think it was a huge success. While everyone else realizes White did some good for UB, in spite of his marketing failures and that the athletic department is better off despite the money he wasted on the failed marketing which actually hampered local support. Oh, but that’s right, you attribute the lack of support to be a conspiracy by someone behind the powerful new medium the newspaper. Yeah, that’s it...
  5. Don't work for UB. Never have. I have been around enough programs to know that there is ebb and flow and that kids will have uncertainty. The program isn't off the mark with where I thought they would be. Fans are notorious for thinking their new players who didn't see a lot of minutes are going to be high impact and continuing winning ways. We do realize that the players we graduated were not your typical MAC players, right? They are playing in the pros for a reason. That is a lot of pros to have on one roster. The MAC doesn't get talent like that on one team but maybe once a decade. If that is what's happening, then I agree. There is no place for that. And frankly, I would be surprised if UB had people monitoring the board. Don't they have more pressing issues to attend to? I have to give the benefit of the doubt here and think that Kevin was engaged in some other things (possibly twitter or some other channel) and they told him to act like a media member if he wants to keep credentials. And that would be reasonable. Media have standards they need to maintain. It is fair game to call out coaches as a member of the media, so I don't think Kevin did anything wrong that should put credentials at risk, based on his post. (Though I completely disagree with his bias.) Of course, people, including members of the media, should be free to be critical of the program. Otherwise, they are simply a PR arm. But it is possible that's how they viewed these fan publications. Simply pro-UB rags that will push the party line. And if they weren't really considering them Media but simply PR, I guess it would make more sense. But it probably isn't good practice to give media credentials to anyone that promises to give you good press. I don't know anything about what they are doing, or not doing, or what their goals are in the short or long term. I am not in coaches meetings or in practice. But I have faith in the staff and the players. I am not going to sell just because the stock took a short term hit. This is when I make the most money. I have been through it before.
  6. I agree with this but there has been a trend where the posting of highlights online (especially after losses) is used as a way to signal to other programs that they might be interested in transferring. It is showing off their talents for other programs who might want to backchannel a contact to see if they are interested in a transfer. Sure, it might simply be players wanting to feel good about themselves. But it also could be them feeling good without taking responsibility for their role on the team. It isn't a good thing when a players doesn't feel the significance of a team's loss. But, personally, I am indifferent to it. It might not be anything to read into and I admit that I don't understand the kids' social media culture with posting everything about their lives...
  7. The NYBI slowed the progress. White made great hires. That is absolutely true. 100%. His marketing was always a bust. He burned through more cash than he raised. But the success on the field from his hires lead to future interest which we have benefitted from immensely. I don't really have a problem with White. He did some good and did some bad. Most people don't realize the bad but that is fine since he is long gone. He hired coaches that brought winning and that has benefitted us and it's best to focus on the positives as we move forward. Thank you Danny White for bringing in coaches than won.
  8. Ha ha ha you're still defending it? It is comical, and sad, that people think the public distinction is significant. The NYBI was a complete failure. The fact that they gave it a name which included the work "Initiative" was even worse. It let people know it is was a gimmick. Did White extend a personal favor to you that makes you feel loyal to him? You know, you don't have to defend the failure to be supportive of the man, right? He has moved on and is doing very well after learning from his mistakes in Buffalo.
  9. You know it is comical... In this very thread I have been called: A conspiracy theorist for my comments about the previous staff and their behavior on their way out the door Someone who doesn't know anything about what has gone on in the athletic department or with the basketball program because I state that the "Gonzaga of the East" was simply a marketing line for recruits. And now I am being called an employee of the Athletic Department. Which is it? Do I work for the athletic department or do I know nothing about what goes on in the athletic department? The reality is that all of those bullet points are completely wrong about me. I would gladly circle back in the future and see what you think of the program when people aren't jaded from a loss. To the other points... Is Kevin a member of the press or someone who simply wants free tickets to the games? The line between media and fan sure has been blurred in the last few years. And that has probably been a good thing for UB. A lot of people have been able to start publishing their own material on UB and overwhelmingly it has been great to have UB fans pose as media. I would say it is a bad thing if UB is trying to play both sides of the fence and treat positive press from fans as media and negative press from fans as not really media. Not sure what their standards are for establishing media credentials. I have never had them.
  10. That is not true. I mean, sure, it is true in the sense that he wanted to succeed and worked hard to succeed like every program and coach in the country does. But otherwise it was simply a marketing line for recruits to make them feel like they were getting in to the hot new thing.
  11. The NYBI was a complete and utter failure. White was too prideful to admit it but he knows it wasted a ton of money and didn't get any of the results it was suppose to get. It alienated people. It is why at his new job he changed his whole marketing strategy to be a complete 360 and marketed UCF as the local hometown team and pushed the local city only. Something that would have been much more beneficial for UB.
  12. Oats didn't have that vision. It was simply a line he told recruits. He never was committed to it and he knew it wasn't realistic.
  13. It is easy to feel that way after a bad loss but the season will ebb and flow. The Bulls will turn out some great performances again. Ball State isn't a bad team, a loss to them isn't shocking, it is simply how the team lost that is shocking. So right now fans are depressed and wondering what went wrong. But I am confident we will see a different result when we see them at Alumni.
  14. Yes, your reaction isn't logical. We were spoiled the last year but all college basketball teams have head scratching losses and inconsistencies. Just last night UVA lost to BC. The program that the OP says is so great just lost last night to Drake and is no better than UB right now despite not having the turmoil our Bulls have faced. I don't know a single program where the fans haven't said they lost a head scratcher of a game they shouldn't have this year. It's not like we have more history and better recruits than UConn where Hurley is in his second year and suffered a confusing lose to St. Joe's. All teams have a few of these. There is a reason why we didn't run the table last year in the MAC despite being significantly better than every team. The team took a step back as they rebuild and they are still one of the best teams in the conference. That is what happens when you've got a great program and your coach is doing a good job. Seriously, last year's team finished the OOC slate with one win over an NCAA at-large team. And it looks like this year's team could do the same (DePaul is in the running for an at-large). The only difference is a few setbacks early in the season. The sky isn't falling. The program is in good hands.
  15. The post wasn't about the job being done this year. The whole purpose was to make the claim that Jim shouldn't have been hired. That is the whole reason for citing old states from another program over a decade ago. This is a person who is going to rail against the staff any chance they get. But you don't have to believe me (or the others) you can simply sit back and watch it unfold anytime the team has any setback.
  16. "Coach B" because you say the name so often if would be too cumbersome to have to say his full first or last name. It is idiotic to try to draw any conclusions from a few games in a new coaches tenure. Even worse to try to make any inference into recruiting following a turbulent off season where your slime ball boy was trying to burn the program down on his way out the door and telling recruits to avoid UB. Anyone who continues to side with those slime balls in the way they handled themselves is not a friend of the program. They actively worked against UB. And not the way a rival program does (if you want to say Bama is a rival program) but the way a vindictive weasel does who is trying to extort something they want. Your boy wasn't hired and we are better off for it. No matter how much you try to undermine the work by this staff.
  17. How does the Hungarian league rank? Some of the Eastern European countries are really good and others are really weak. I don't know which side Hungary sits.
  18. Going to the Final Four is a great accomplishment for Mosher. But he still is having a rebuilding year. Even with the stability in his program. It is foolish to think that the coaching change didn't impact recruiting and the ability of the team to come together with all of the uncertainty and short notice for planning. But of course you blame him for the recruits jumping ship even while your boy was actively telling recruits to not go to Buffalo. Anything to make your boy look good, right? This is all about trying to make it seem like UB missed the boat by telling your boy to get loss, right?
  19. I know that the Blue and White theme and the UB branding on this site might confuse you into thinking this is a place where people want to talk about Alabama. But this other site is actually what you're looking for. ====> https://www.tidefans.com/forums/forums/basketball.5/ Glad to help you out.
  20. Oh... so now you're willing to ignore one season of results for a coach? Why is that? Because they are... in rebuilding mode? Yeah, who is more likely to be impacted by rebuilding, a coach who took his team to the Final Four on a surprise run and then got a huge boost in recruiting or a coach who took over a program where the previous staff of slime balls told all their recruits to jump ship and go elsewhere? Just admit you formulated your conclusion first and went looking for evidence to try to support your conclusion. At least then you're being honest and we can take you seriously.
  21. Even that would be wrong. Loyola is not doing any better than the Bulls and they didn’t have the turmoil. take a look yourself... https://loyolaramblers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2019-20/indianapolis-exhibition-/boxscore/4976 https://loyolaramblers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2019-20/coppin-state/boxscore/4979
  22. FFS. Your team has to give you a reason to cheer for them? You know that means you’re not a fan. Fan is short for fanatic. You’re just a casual observer if you need a reason to cheer for the team. and that is the whole premise of your post. “We cheer when they have winning seasons and are nationally ranked.” “We cheer when there are a bunch of Bonas fans there and we hate them so we will cheer against them to try to ensure they lose.” You’re not a fan if you’re asking them team to give you a reason. You’re suppose to be the one that makes them play better at home. I would argue you’re the problem. If they come out without fire it is because they come out to see that there are people like you pretending to be fans but not offering any support to the players and instead sitting back judging them demanding they give you a reason to care about them.
  23. I stopped reading here since this post is clearly nonsense. Loyola was not a good program before Jim. They had one winning season in the 15 years before they hired him Jim. That was three different coaches tried to win at Loyola in that time. Jim has three winning seasons in his seven years there. He also was playing in the Horizon Conference with Butler who made the NCAA finals. Jim made the program respectable and lates the groundwork for the promotion to the Missouri Valley Conference.
  24. Yeah, it is almost like he only had a few months to fill a lot of scholarships that were expected to be filled with talented recruits who were told by the previous alone balls that they should avoid Buffalo because those very coaches were leaving. It really is a wonder why he didn’t bring in a lot of high impact players when most were already committed. a real head scratcher...
  25. You’re right. and it seems the team plays worse at home (exception being the Bona game). I have seen this happen before with some teams that don’t get a lot of hype for their home games. They show up to the gym and the game doesn’t feel like a game and the team just isn’t up for it. But then they do well on the road because when they go on the road they are going with a purpose and know they are there for one reason. it is like they are just rolling out of bed from playing video games and going over to the gym for a game before getting back to what they are doing. But when they are on the road they are there to win.
