  1. What a crazy game. Here I am saying Ball State is going to be UB's biggest test in the MAC, and now, I don't know what is anymore. JT4 was a monster on the boards.
  2. All I have to say is Nick Perkins looks so different with the new hair, it looked like he had a little bit of a new pep in his step too. He played fantastic in the second half. What a overall fantastic balanced scoring and rebounding game. Lots of guys stepped up tonight. Jeremy Harris yet again coming alive in the second MAC game just like last year against Ball State. He looked absolutely amazing tonight and he could not be stopped. Massinburg with a quiet 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 0 turnovers. He was great tonight. Javon Graves 13 points, 12 rebounds, 0 turnovers, in 28 minutes. One of his best games so far this season. Dontay Caruthers, super productive off the bench, perhaps one of his best games of the season. 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals. Overall, I could not express how proud I am of the team tonight. Unafraid of this Toledo team.
  3. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/25707658/buffalo-test-vs-toledo-point-march Article featured on ESPN.com about tonight's game. It has been a while since one could honestly say that Buffalo needs no introduction in college basketball terms, but that's certainly the case in 2019. The Bulls are 13-1 and ranked No. 19 in the nation. Nate Oats' up-tempo team gets good looks both at the rim and from beyond the arc. CJ Massinburg is an outstanding scorer (ask Jim Boeheim) and, at 6-foot-8 and 250 pounds, Nick Perkins is a handful for any opponent. We've been over all of this, and UB is for real. Now the question is: Just how far can this for-real team go in the NCAA tournament come March? The Bulls have played road games at West Virginia, Syracuse and Marquette, but the tests will keep coming in Mid-American Conference play. In fact, the MAC is currently ranked No. 9 in Division I at KenPom, marking the league's best showing in the past 15 years. UB is helping that number along, of course, but the rest of the conference is doing its part. Speaking of one historically strong MAC team, Toledo plays at Buffalo at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday on ESPN+. The Rockets are the defending MAC West champions, and most of that team has returned for 2018-19. The game against Tod Kowalczyk's group figures to be the first of several stiff challenges facing the Bulls as they seek to defend their MAC title. Toledo's led by Jaelan Sanford, who opened the season with a 30-point performance in a true road victory at Oakland. When he's not busy scoring from both sides of the line, the 6-4 senior also is an accomplished passer. Still, the Rockets are more than just Sanford. Nate Navigato might be the best perimeter scorer Buffalo has seen this season. At 6-8, the senior could be a tough assignment for Massinburg (6-3) or even Jeremy Harris (6-7). Navigato has been thriving in catch-and-shoot situations all season long. Toledo spreads the floor, shares the ball and makes you defend the 3. If you think that sounds kind of like Buffalo, you're right. Then again, it also sounds like Marquette, the one team that has beaten the Bulls so far. One last thing: Expect to see points put on the board. Buffalo's known to prefer a fast pace, and the Rockets have scored 80 or more points eight times in the first 14 games. Toledo's coming off a loss to Ball State (another threat to the Bulls), and Sanford & Co. will be looking to get back on track with a true signature victory. Should be a good one.
  4. No point in arguing with someone who has outdated opinions on the ranking system and doesn't like change and goes with whatever opinion AP ballot voters have.
  5. Ed, then stop reading his work and his articles then. It's not hard to do. You're just finding something to get flustered about.
  6. He's proving a point and expressing what many people are thinking but don't have the stones to say. Power 5 teams that have the luxury and taking advantage of their status, practically get to play all of their OOC games at home and on a neutral courts that are usually dominated by their fans anyway. I myself, agree with him on many levels.
  7. https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/adifs6/user_poll_week_10/ The folks on reddit have us at #18. Obviously this doesn't mean anything, but, I always like looking at other opinion's from people in separate fan bases. Also, I sort of agree with the #18 spot.
  8. This is a fair guess. I would think we're moving up. We should be somewhere 17-19.
  9. Not disputing he might be a good coach, but, a head coach at D-1, he is quite mediocre. Also, I'm not dismissing that he has had some success at D-1, but, I just don't think he is a coach that was/is able to get the absolute most out of his players. There's just something lacking with him. One could only wonder what UB would have been like had Bobby Hurley come to UB in 2004 and what they would have been able to accomplish from that point on. I think Reggie could make to be a good assistant in D-1, perhaps be a head coach at the JUCO level. But him as a head coach for a D-1 school? I don't think it's ever going to get better for him. Just my take on things.
  10. Well, look what he's doing to Canisius. I'm not saying he has been 100% of the problem to their downfall this year. But, the fact that Molson and Reese have been so incredibly bad this year, is a real indication of something....and I'm not sure what really. I thought those 2 were going be like Khalil Dukes and Matt Scott from Niagara last season and tear the MAAC apart. And it's the absolute opposite. I don't know, maybe Witherspoon just doesn't have what it takes to coach D-1 basketball? Despite some successful seasons, it just seems like he reeks of mediocrity and does holds rosters back.
  11. My god, I can't believe bought into such a click bait, attention seeking thread. There is no story here. Move along please.
  12. We offered him 3 weeks ago, and in that time, there's been no sources confirming that, so, I'm going to have to say his recruitment is still open.
  13. Why is everyone so quick to say that Tyree NEEDS to go to a bigger school. It could cost him. He is a good QB, especially in the MAC. But for him to go to a school in the SEC, that could be bad for him. I think he's too raw for a school of that magnitude. Obviously he's doing what he thinks is best, but, is it really the best option? Draft scouts know who he is and if he stayed at UB and has a much better year his senior year, his draft stock is going to look really good. But if he goes to a big school, and does awful, he more than likely ruins his chances at a better contract and better position to go to a team that he'll compete as a backup or even a starter. All I'm saying is, if Khalil Mack can do it, so can Tyree.
  14. You're right. I feel like the offense this year could have been much better with him.
  15. What a pathetic defensive performance. Can't rebound the ball, can't guard Howard. $0 points for Howard in the second half alone. This was just flat out embarrassing. There's no excuse for it anymore, we are a good enough team to beat Marquette. Shot the ball like shit, missing free throws, it's just silly. This was just not a good game for us. They need to learn from this loss, use it all motivation. Become stronger, become faster. Onto Canisius.
  16. I can't speak for everyone, but, there comes a point in time where I get so burnt out from anything football. From watching high school games, NFL, and college, by the time December rolls around, that's basketball and hockey season for me. Don't get me wrong I'm still going to watch and be excited and holler. But, I'm semi-checked out of football. Some others could probably relate. Doesn't help the football team that UB basketball is #14 and red hot lol.
  17. They aren't going 10-8 in conference with a full roster. If they go 13-0 OOC, and say, 14-4 in conference, they would still have a high chance at an at-large.
  18. Stubhub also has 2 scalped season tickets in section 113, great seats, 60 bucks each......
  19. I can tell you right now that all the 100 level seats are sold out. The only tickets you'll most likely be able to buy at this point are GA and 300 level, call the ticket office to make sure.
  20. At least we haven't been rocking those ugly dark gray jersey's. I hated those last year. I even enjoy the heck out of the white jersey's we wear with the blue striped trim on the sides, those are super slick. But I would like to see the blue jersey's as they are very nice.
  21. I think an important factor of this game is containing Markus Howard. In both of Marquette's losses this season, Howard had 18 points in each game, shooting 12-37 from the field. We need to shut him down. He's by no means a big guard standing at 5'11" 175 pounds. Jordan, Caruthers, and Graves need to be on him all game. The problem is, he's so darn shifty and quick. This will be by far the biggest test this season for Jordan or Caruthers. We just need to out muscle him like I know we are able to. My other concern with the game is to continue established paint dominance with Perkins and McRae from the second half against Cuse. We need to shut down the Hauser brothers and we need to out muscle them. Hopefully we see the great rebounding from last game translate into this game as well. Offensively, I think they just need to continue to move the ball as well as they have, and get good look shots off. I think we may see a little better offensive performance considering they play mostly man defense, unless they switch to a zone. We also really need to just be smart with the ball and avoid as many turnovers as possible. And we should be afraid to get inside and force some fouls. We're going to need other guys to step up like Graves, Caruthers, and McRae. We need a team performance tomorrow to stay with Marquette, they may be the best team we play this year with the quality wins they have and it's safe to say they are the best team in the Big East (St. John's is 11-0 with a weak OOC schedule). Needless to say, I think we are able to win this game. All phases of our game need to be out on display.
  22. What's asinine about the title? The NCAA has a history of snuffing teams with quality wins or are ranked? Also, it's a good win. Syracuse struggling or not, to go to the carrier dome on the road when SU was just ranked last week, is big and the NCAA and the world takes notice. Beating them does add to our resume to get an at-large bid. Also, Mark Gaughan wrote the article, who has been covering men's basketball for a while. It's not insulting when it sums up what UB needs to do to compile an at-large resume. If they beat Marquette Friday, they will pretty much seal a chance, unless they fall apart during conference play. R-E-L-A-X
  23. For anyone who wanted to re-watch the game last night who didn't tape it or doesn't have cable, found it on YouTube.
  24. One thing Oats has praised them both on is I guess they are both huge gym rats and are always in the gym. Williams and Segu are both so raw but have a ton of athletic ability that the sky is the limit for them. I have a feeling over time, they could be real special players.
